Chapter 470: Chapter 469: I Really, Love You So, So Much 2

Leona Grant looked at her. His eyes always welled up whenever he saw her, and this time was no exception.

He smiled, a warm expression spreading across his flawless face as he greeted her softly, "Annabelle Linton."

"Yeah." Annabelle Linton smiled back, now able to face him calmly. "What are you doing here?"

In the past, they would do nothing but bicker and fight whenever they met. So this... ’how would you describe it?’

A moment of harmony between them? You could count those on one hand.

Hearing her question, Leona Grant smiled and took out a small cake box. It was something he’d bought earlier when he passed by a pastry shop.

Annabelle Linton didn’t have much of a sweet tooth, but she always bought this specific cake to try. ’He was glad he still remembered that one, pitiful detail about her.’

"I passed the pastry shop and bought your favorite cake. It might not be the freshest anymore, but... I hope you’ll take it anyway."

Annabelle Linton gave a faint smile and took the cake. "Thank you," she said, her smile gentle.

It wasn’t a perfunctory smile, but a genuine one. It lacked her usual icy distance, though it wasn’t exactly warm, either.

Silence fell between them for a few more seconds.

Knowing him as well as she did, Annabelle Linton was sure he had something more to say to her. She didn’t leave right away, simply lowering her gaze, lost in thought.

After a moment, Leona Grant suddenly smiled. "I came to wish you a happy marriage."

Annabelle Linton looked up at him.

"Congratulations on your marriage, Annabelle Linton."

Annabelle Linton still found it a bit strange. ’Did he really have to wait this long just to say something like that?’

But she didn’t say anything more, simply smiling again. "Thank you for the well wishes."

A brief silence followed.

After a moment, Leona Grant looked at her, a glimmer of light in his deep-set eyes. He asked softly, "Annabelle Linton, do you still hate me?"

Annabelle Linton froze, her eyes instinctively flying up to meet his.

He was as devastatingly handsome as ever—the kind of handsome that could make a person fall for him with a single glance.

’If she had to choose one person to be with, she would definitely pick Aaron Wyatt over Leona Grant.’

’A man who could offer constant warmth versus a man who could hurt you at any moment—who would you choose?’

’But in terms of sheer magnetism and charisma, most people would probably prefer someone like Leona Grant.’

’Aaron Wyatt was a gentle, steady stream, while Leona Grant was a passionate, roaring fire.’

’Not everyone is content with a quiet life.’

’Due to the circles they moved in, life with Leona Grant was certainly more exciting than life with Aaron Wyatt. But the thoughtfulness Aaron Wyatt possessed was something Leona Grant could never hope to match.’

’Do I hate him?’

Annabelle Linton looked at him, a faint, distant look in her eyes.

She had loved this man, hated him, loathed him. She went from wanting to kill him in the beginning, to refusing to even speak to him, to now facing him with composure. She didn’t quite know what had changed within her to make it possible.

But it seemed her feelings for him had been undergoing a slow, subtle transformation all along.

’Do I hate him?’

’It was as if the passage of time had washed away all the unpleasantness between them, leaving only a feeling that resembled the comfort between old friends.’

And somehow, after everything that had happened, she found she could let it all go and face him with a peaceful heart.

Leona Grant’s place in Annabelle Linton’s heart had always been a special one.

Whether in love or in hate, it was special.

’Looking back, what was there to hate, really?’

’There was nothing to be done about what happened in their past life. Besides, the man standing before her now knew nothing of it. There was no point in dwelling on it.’
