Chapter 456: Chapter 455: Why Didn’t the Fall Kill Her?
Annabelle Linton was wearing her seatbelt, so she only scraped her forehead before passing out against the steering wheel.
Leona Grant watched, dumbfounded, as Vivian Yates’ body hit the ground.
’This dream is nothing but accidents!’
Of course, they were all "accidents." All the suffering Annabelle Linton had endured in her past life was being replayed in this dream.
Vivian Yates lay on the ground, covered in blood, as a crowd immediately swarmed around her.
Leona Grant looked at Vivian Yates with a hint of schadenfreude. ’How dare she try to ram Annabelle’s car?’
She went over to check on Annabelle Linton, who had only fainted.
Then, both of them were sent to the hospital.
’One dream, and I feel like I’ve been to the hospital countless times,’ Leona Grant thought.
Annabelle Linton was, of course, fine. The car had excellent safety features, the airbags had deployed perfectly, and thanks to her seatbelt, she escaped with nothing more than a scrape on her forehead.
Vivian Yates, however, was a different story. Her body was riddled with shrapnel. She had managed to shield her face the moment she was ejected, so she wasn’t disfigured, but the rest of her body was covered in injuries. She still hadn’t woken up.
Annabelle Linton got out of bed to check on Vivian Yates. Just then, the Leona Grant from the dream burst through the door, glaring fiercely at her. "Annabelle Linton! How could you be so cruel as to crash into Vivian’s car? How could you be so malicious?!"
The real Leona Grant watched her dream-self and wanted to curse. ’What the hell is wrong with this idiot? Does she have a screw loose?’
Hearing this, tears welled up in Annabelle Linton’s eyes. "It wasn’t me... I didn’t hit Vivian. It was her, she..."
"Are you trying to say she hit *you*?!"
Annabelle Linton nodded. "Yes, it was her! I was driving perfectly fine, and she’s the one who hit me!"
"But you were clearly in the wrong lane!"
"That’s because I was making a turn..."
"Enough!" the dream-Leona cut her off harshly. "From this day forward, I, Leona Grant, want nothing more to do with you! You think you’re untouchable just because you have Grandpa backing you, don’t you? Hah. Fine, I won’t divorce you. But I can still kick you out! Get out! Get the hell away from me!"
After she finished speaking, a servant threw two suitcases over to Annabelle.
"From now on, get out of my sight!"
With that, Leona Grant slammed the door shut.
Annabelle Linton was escorted out of the hospital by several security guards, unable to even get a glimpse of Leona Grant.
The real Leona Grant watched this scene unfold. She remembered how, in the previous dream, she had stayed up all night caring for Annabelle. Her intuition told her that things were definitely not what they seemed.
Annabelle Linton cried for a long time outside the hospital entrance. Then, she wandered aimlessly for what felt like an eternity before finding some money in her suitcase and getting a room somewhere.
The real Leona Grant then found herself where her dream-self was.
Her dream-self stood before the floor-to-ceiling windows, hands clasped behind her back, her figure tall and imposing.
"President." Chase walked in. "Vivian Yates has woken up. Her injuries are quite serious this time..."
"Why didn’t the crash just kill her?" the dream-Leona sneered. "Didn’t I have you modify that car to be a piece of junk? How did she only get off with those injuries?"
"To answer your question, President, it was the worst piece of junk we could make. The problem is, Madam’s car is too well-built. It absorbed most of the impact."
Hearing Annabelle’s name, the dream-Leona’s expression softened. "How is Madam?"
Chase answered respectfully, "Madam has checked into a small inn. You don’t need to worry. I’ll arrange for one of her friends to go look after her tomorrow."
Leona Grant said nothing.
Chase hesitated for a long moment before lowering his head and saying, "President, I actually think you could have kept Madam with you. It’s not a guarantee that she would be in danger by your side. I’m afraid she’s truly heartbroken this time..."
