Chapter 455: Notice of Going Premium

Lalala, after a four-and-a-half-month free period, our book *Loyal Dog* is finally going premium! Time to celebrate~

This book was first published on June 12th of this year, so it’s been over four months. As you all know, every book has to go through the process of moving from free to premium. I won’t waste any more time with fluff; let’s get straight to the questions~

1. Didn’t you say it would be free? Why are you charging for it now?

Anyone asking this question deserves a massive eye-roll. Did I ever say it would be free forever? Why on earth should I write for free?

Regarding the fees, any normal reader knows that there are basically no completely free books on the platform. If everything was free, how would the app make any money?

Besides, my editor originally wanted me to go premium around Chapter 320. But I figured many of you are students like me, so I fought to let you guys read as much as possible for free. I kept writing, and now we’re here, over a hundred thousand characters later. So for that reason alone, can you please not say things you shouldn’t? Okay?

Also, writing a novel is really not easy. It takes me an average of two hours to write a single updated Chapter. Think about how long it takes you to write a school essay. Now consider that I’m writing a novel that needs to connect past and future plot points. I don’t need to explain how difficult that is, do I?

I release at least three Chapters a day (except for the week before last), which takes about six hours. Just imagine a student with the same schedule as you trying to squeeze out those six hours. And most of the time I release four Chapters, which is eight hours...

On top of that, my health isn’t great. I have acute enteritis and other issues, so I can’t stay up late. But to write this book, I’ve had frequent nosebleeds, dark circles under my eyes, eye pain, and stomach pain so bad I needed an IV drip... This is something I’m writing with my own physical health as capital. So honestly, I feel it would be an injustice against heaven and myself not to charge for it.

To put it another way, would you work for free if your boss didn’t pay you? If you want to eat, can you get food for free without money?

Don’t lecture me. Come talk to me when you’ve learned to give without expecting anything in return. We’re all human here. Try to see it from my perspective.

I’ve seen so many authors provide free content for a long time, only to be hit with one-star reviews and personal attacks from readers when they finally go premium. It’s truly disheartening. I don’t want to see that kind of brain-dead behavior in my comment section. Yes, I said brain-dead.

For every one of those people that shows up, I’ll flame every single one. It’s your problem if you’re not all there in the head, but don’t get in other people’s way.

Of course, for the babies who act cute and grumble a little, this author still adores you~ I have a special soft spot for sweet girls (mwah~). At times like this, I’ll just have to pat your chest and comfort you (wicked grin). [Note: this only applies to people who have fan value, even if it’s just one cent’s worth.]

To the babies who can’t afford to keep reading, I’m truly helpless. Thank you for accompanying me this far. But please, leave quietly. Losing a reader is the last thing I want to see 。゚(゚´Д`゚)゚。 (sobbing).

2. A-la-carte or subscription? The price question.

A-la-carte.

In simple terms, it’s five cents per Chapter. You have to buy them one by one.

Oh, and let this author clear something up for you all. Sometimes you’ll see other authors’ books cost 10 book coins or more per Chapter. You might think the author is overcharging, but that’s not the case.

The pricing rules for an app are all the same. If they charge more for a Chapter, it definitely has more words.

Here on Vance, it’s one cent per 200 characters. So, this author’s 1000-character Chapter costs five cents (I can’t even publish a Chapter if it’s under 1000 characters). I’m explaining this for two reasons. First, I don’t want you to go embarrass yourselves elsewhere. Really, it’s cringey to see people make that mistake. Even if you don’t know, I don’t want my babies to become a laughingstock in others’ eyes.

Second, if a Chapter sometimes costs a little bit more, this is the reason why.

So please don’t ask me to lower the price or anything like that. I’m just giving you a friendly reminder, really.

3. Update schedule.

Today, there will be an update burst of 20,000 characters, which is twenty Chapters (damn, that’s a whole month’s worth of stockpiled Chapters...).

After that, updates will be around four or five Chapters at a time. If I can’t manage that, please be understanding, for the sake of how long this author gave you free Chapters, and for the fact that I’m a student. Thank you so much. Of course, I will definitely do my best.

Umm... I can’t set a fixed update time. My writing schedule is really unpredictable, so I won’t make any promises.

To the babies who can’t stand slow updates, I’m sorry. If you can’t wait, then don’t read. I’m doing my best. Let’s not hurt each other~

4. System issues.

This thing can be a real pain sometimes. Lag, eaten comments, updates not showing up—that’s all its doing.

Everyone gets sensitive when money is involved, I understand that. If there are any issues in the future, like being charged twice or the system overcharging, please provide evidence of the amount (QQ Reading has payment records). You’re welcome to find me in the group chat. I’m not interested in any money beyond what I’ve earned. This matter will be handled publicly in the group.

Also, for a five-cent Chapter, my contract gives me 0.015 cents. Do you think I’m so desperate for money that I’d cheat you out of 0.015 cents?

5. Plot questions.

Umm... This book has a detailed outline. Let me tell you about the plot.

This story is written mainly around the male lead, so the plot follows his circumstances.

The book is divided into three volumes.

Volume One: Falling in Love.

Volume Two: The Wife-Chasing.

Volume Three: The Struggle for the Throne.

Volume One is now complete.

Personally, I think the upcoming plot is more exciting than what’s come before, and it will also be shorter. This book won’t be a super long one.

6. Fan Value question.

I’m sure you’ve all seen that many of our babies have titles like "Apprentice," "Acolyte," or "Disciple" after their usernames. Yes, those are only for people who have spent money.

Conversely, if you don’t have one of these titles after your username, it means you’re reading a pirated version. As long as you spend even a single cent of real money, you’ll get a Fan Value icon. If you don’t have one, don’t run your mouth. I work my butt off writing here, and you read it on a pirate site? Don’t expect me to be nice to you.

That’s right. People who steal a look at someone else’s hard work without paying—I feel it’s my duty to spit on the grave of your dead integrity. This is the official comment section for the legitimate version of the book. All you piracy dogs outing yourselves, either stop reading or shut up. Otherwise, I will flame every single one of you that shows up.

Maybe you’ll say I’m not respecting you, that just by reading you’re supporting me, and here I am saying something like this. Sorry, but hell yeah I’m going to chew you out.

Your boyfriend says he loves you, but in the end, he won’t marry you, won’t spend money on you, won’t take care of you, and doesn’t treat you well. He just says he loves your "shell." What’s the use of that? Would you want that kind of trash?

Well, I wouldn’t want it. So, people with no Fan Value, stop cluttering up the comment section and bringing everyone down.

Also, the fan rankings will clearly remember how much money you’ve spent. So... heh.

Oh, and one more thing: using check-in vouchers and such doesn’t count toward Fan Value. It really doesn’t help me at all.

I’m not saying all this because this author is being dramatic. I’ve just seen too many people like this, so I’m saying it just in case. My cool and reserved babies, please don’t get impatient with me~

Ah, that’s all! Anyway, I hope everyone can support me~

All you babies who support me, raise your paws!

For the sake of the 470,000 free characters you got before this went premium, I’m begging you, please be a little more patient~

If there’s anything I missed, come ask me~

(This afternoon, I’ll post the list for the comment-stacking event and other things in the comment section~ This Chapter costs ten cents, so if I posted it there, you all wouldn’t be able to see it~ (laughing-crying emoji))
