Chapter 359: Chapter 357: Why Are You Here
He didn’t know how to mend their relationship.
He knew he no longer had any right to question or control her, but he couldn’t stand seeing her treat another man so well!
He had heard every single caring word she’d said to that other man earlier.
It had been a long, long time since she had treated him that way...
Again and again.
He told himself over and over to let her go, to let them both move on, but the moment he saw her, his emotions spiraled completely out of his control!
’She called Aaron Wyatt "husband" earlier.’ The memory felt like a bee sting to his heart, the pain swift and fierce.
’They’d only been divorced for a little over three months. He hadn’t been able to move on from the marriage, from their relationship, yet here she was, calling another man her husband and even wanting to sleep with him.’
’So, in a little while, would they have a child together, too?’
’How was he supposed to accept that?’
’Forcing the issue would just make their relationship worse.’
’Winning her over with kindness? Impossible.’
’What on earth was he supposed to do?’
Leona Grant turned his head away, pained, a tight knot of anguish clenching in his chest.
He let out a long sigh, a look of sorrow and helplessness clouding his stern features.
Ten minutes later, Annabelle Linton was ready.
The dress Leona Grant had found for her was red—an asymmetrical, one-shoulder design that left one shoulder bare.
She had a way of looking stunning in anything she wore.
She walked out, her expression blank, and ignored Leona Grant.
Leona Grant watched her, lips pressed into a thin line, unsure of what to say.
As Annabelle Linton opened the door, Mrs. Yates emerged from the other lounge—the one Annabelle had been in earlier—with a group of people in tow.
A sharp glint flashed in Annabelle Linton’s eyes.
’So she knew who was trying to frame her. Just as she’d expected.’
Mrs. Yates’s eyes widened in shock when she saw Annabelle Linton emerge from the neighboring lounge. "What are you doing here?" she demanded.
She then shot a glance at the attendant, who looked nervous and gave a slight shake of his head.
Annabelle Linton regarded her coolly and said with a meaningful tone, "What I’m doing here is none of your business. But you? What are all of you doing here?"
"I..." Mrs. Yates was suddenly at a loss for words.
’According to the plan, they were supposed to have locked Annabelle Linton in with President Lewis. Then, given President Lewis’s lecherous audacity, he would have certainly made a move on her.’
’Annabelle Linton was a helpless woman with no strength to speak of; she would be no match for President Lewis. After a few minutes, the deed would be done. That’s when she would burst in with a group of people to catch them in the act, utterly destroying Annabelle Linton’s reputation and making Leona Grant completely disgusted with her.’
’But what was this? What was happening now?’
Just as she was fumbling for words, President Lewis stumbled out, clutching his forehead. The moment he saw Annabelle Linton, he started spewing curses. "You bitch! You just had to do things the hard way, didn’t you? How dare you hurt me! You’ve got a lot of nerve!"
A cunning gleam flashed in Mrs. Yates’s eyes as she chimed in, "Annabelle Linton, didn’t you just come out of that room? Now President Lewis is saying you injured him. What’s going on?!"
Annabelle Linton, of course, wasn’t about to admit to anything. This was the very reason she’d made sure to take her belongings with her. "How should I know? Just because he says I hurt him, that makes it true? By that logic, if I say you’re an idiot, does that make you an idiot?!"
"You..."
"Hey, you little bitch! You beat the hell out of me and now you’re just going to deny it? Is that it?" President Lewis raged. "Well, I’m not fucking done with you! We’re going to get to the bottom of this! Check the surveillance! Check for fingerprints! I’ll get the truth one way or another!"
