Chapter 84: Chapter 78: Condescending Poison Bastard

As he was leaving, the Heavenly Demon’s voice rang in the old man’s ears, "When my wife arrives, ask her to attend the meeting as well." Then he disappeared. The old man sighed and muttered, "These two, father and son, will be the death of me. Can’t even let an old man rest in peace."

He also disappeared and reappeared in his chambers, where he wrote 13 letters. He called his servants and ordered them to deliver 11 of the letters to the Demon Monarchs. When the servants had left, he summoned one of his Demonic Spirits. It was a crow with three eyes that burned with black flames. He stroked the bird’s feathers and tied one of the remaining letters to its right foot. "Take this to the Yin and Yang Elders. You know where to find them," he said.

The bird screeched and flew away, phasing through the ceiling as if it didn’t exist. The old man summoned another Demonic Spirit, this time a pitch-black bow and three arrows. He rolled the letter and attached it to one of the arrows. He went to the window, nocked the arrow on the bow, pulled the bowstring back, and whispered, "Tang Mi-Yeon, Lady of the Divine Demonic Cult." His eyes glowed with a bloody light, and he released the arrow. There was a sonic boom, and the arrow disappeared.

Now that everyone necessary had been informed, he made his way to the Heavenly Demon’s Palace. His servants, masters of qinggong, were fast. The Demon Monarchs would have received the letters and be on their way by the time he reached the Palace. He walked leisurely, as if he had no care in the world.

When he reached the Palace, it was empty. He sat on the first throne below the Heavenly Demon’s throne. A few minutes later, he sensed two very faint presences in the Throne Room. The Yin and Yang Elders had arrived. Soon after, he heard a commotion and muttered, "The problem children are here." He was right. A group of 11 people entered the Palace, bickering with each other.

One of them, a woman in slightly skimpy clothing, said, "Why is the rat bastard here with us? I thought only the Demon Monarchs were to attend."

A man in green robes, presumably the rat bastard she was referring to, replied, "The Heavenly Demon appointed me as a Demon Monarch. Are you questioning our Liege’s decisions, you slut? Did the Yang Qi of the men you drained mess with your brain? Oh wait, my bad. I forgot you traded it for that chest of yours. If you had come to me, you wouldn’t have had to do that. My clan has plenty of medicines to help a tiny chest."

The woman got angry and was about to make a move when another person, whose gender was unknown, stopped her. They were wearing a mask and clothing covering every inch of their skin. "Leave it. Playing with snakes will only result in you getting bit," they said.

The man in green robes said, "You should be careful as well, Demon with a Thousand Faces. Playing with sluts is also very dangerous. I hear they carry all kinds of diseases these days." 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦

They all started bickering until a shirtless man with a body so huge it would put even Woong to shame yelled, "ENOUGH! Stop bickering like little children. Need I remind you where you are or whose presence you’re in?"

The group shut up almost instantly. The huge man knelt toward the old man and said, "I greet Master."

The rest of the Demon Monarchs also knelt and greeted, "We greet the Demon Patriarch."

The old man said, "Yeah, yeah, just stand up. Dong-Hoya, what is wrong with them? They are the infamous Demon Monarchs, but why do they act like children? Even my grandson is more mature than them."

The Demon Monarchs didn’t react outwardly, but they understood what the old man was trying to say. He wasn’t scolding them; he just needed an excuse to bring up his grandson. But why? They were aware of the Heavenly Demon’s plan, and if the old man was openly acknowledging one of the Little Demons as his grandson, it could only mean one thing: the Heavenly Demon had chosen an heir. The old man was preparing them so that they wouldn’t be surprised later.

Of all the Demon Monarchs, four of them had direct descendants in the plan, but only two had survived and become part of the ten Little Demons. All the Demon Monarchs glanced at them, the man in the green robe and a woman in white robes with a sword hanging at her waist. But they ruled out the woman because they knew that her grandson was dead last among the Little Demons. That meant the poison bastard’s grandson was the chosen heir. Clearly, the man in the green robes, the Head of the Tang Clan, infamous by the title Poison King, had also come to the same conclusion. It was very evident because of the blooming smile on his face. The rest of the Demon Monarchs saw that he was glancing at them with a look so condescending that they could practically read his mind.

But they didn’t have to because he sent them a sound transmission, "My grandson will be the next Heavenly Demon. Take that, you suckers. If you insult me once again, you will be insulting the grandfather of the next Heavenly Demon."

The old man could see that all the Demon Monarchs, even the shirtless man, were clenching their fists. And even though they were trying to hide it, he could clearly sense the Killing Intent toward the Poison King that they were trying to rein back in. He realized that the poison bastard must have sent them an aggravating sound transmission. He thought, "But what did he say that angered them that much? I swear that their entire bloodline has a special talent for angering other people. Whether it be the poison bastard, his daughter, or her son..."

His train of thought was broken when the Heavenly Demon entered the Throne Room.
