Chapter 1646: 1646. Be a bit tougher on yourself

But asking her to give up, she felt somewhat unwilling.

"Since I was a child, my mom told me that the only man worthy of me was you, Adam Jones. I thought so too. Watching those clueless fools appear by your side, I never felt any sense of crisis. I knew, with your taste, they weren’t qualified to catch your eye."

She smiled as she spoke, and when praising herself, she showed no guilt, confident without being excessive.

"Don’t laugh at me, but I’ve always viewed them from the perspective of a lawful wife, even though there’s nothing between you and me until you married Elly Campbell..."

At this point, the confidence in her eyes slightly dimmed.

"Even though you neglect and look down on her, she is the only person who makes me feel a sense of crisis. I encountered a woman who could stand on equal footing with me. I knew that even if you didn’t like her, one day you would, and sure enough..."

She laughed again, "She left for four years, yet entered your heart."

Her laughter was somewhat self-deprecating.

Adam Jones did not want to reminisce with her about these things and directly interrupted her.

"So, you quietly went against her? If you’re so confident that you’re on equal footing with her, why not face her openly instead of making these little moves behind her back?"

His deep eyes narrowed.

Johnson Fefferman wasn’t bothered by his accusations, and even after being found out by him, he felt a sense of relief.

"After ruining her, then ruin me next?"

Adam Jones asked again.

Johnson Fefferman smiled, not answering.

"That day at the South Garden Hotel, I found your drugged incident quite suspicious. Although Charles Stevenson and others are lecherous, they’re not brainless. They know whom they can toy with and whom they cannot. Even if one person doesn’t know, it doesn’t mean everyone present is unaware."

"The drug, you took it yourself."

Johnson Fefferman nodded, completely unafraid to admit it, taking another puff of his cigarette.

Adam Jones continued, "When I took you to the hospital, you took the opportunity to turn off my phone. Elly couldn’t reach me and had to come to the ward, where you intentionally let her see that scene."

Johnson Fefferman nodded again, a slight smile on his face.

"Sometimes, looking back, being so hard on myself that day was quite risky, but tasting your flavor wasn’t a waste."

Adam Jones’s face darkened.

Without fearing him, Johnson Fefferman continued, "I just didn’t expect she would trust you so much. Whatever you say, she believes."

"So you deliberately brought up that day’s matter in front of her again."

Adam Jones said in a steady tone.

Johnson Fefferman silently acquiesced.

There was a moment of silence between the two. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦

When the last bit of her cigarette burned out, she finally spoke:

"I know, after what happened to me that night, you would definitely settle accounts with those few people, the Stevenson Family, the Brown Clan, the Gresia Family, the Churchill Clan. Though they may not measure up to the Jones, if you provoke them too far, they will unite. Even if it’s a desperate gamble, it’s better than waiting idly for death."

"By then, you would only mutually suffer with them, and by that time, the Campbell would have enough trouble of its own and wouldn’t care about you."

Johnson Fefferman spoke about his original plan.

This coincided with what Adam Jones had thought.

"When Jones fell into trouble, I could take the opportunity to intervene. A marriage between the Jones Family and the Fefferman Family would go further."
