Chapter 459: Chapter 459 - You Can Go Now
"No!" Exclaimed one of the other Adventurers.
"H-He’s dead. This...this can’t be happening..."
"You damned Monster...!"
"I believe I gave you more than enough warnings. And besides...of course I’m going to kill someone who’s trying to kill me, that’s just common sense," I stated bluntly.
"You...you won’t get away with this!" Snapped the Fire Magic user, unleashing a massive, blazing wave of flames towards me.
A large, crackling bolt of lightning and several spears of ice came shooting in simultaneously, before I expanded my Magic Eater and swallowed them all up.
I then turned my gaze to the left as the other Adventurer with Physical Magic came charging in towards me, letting out roar of exertion and leaping forward as he closed in, his axe raised high.
I swiftly tranformed my left hand into a dagger as he swung the axe down, a sharp clang ringing out as the blade of his axe slammed against my dagger, the impact jarring my forearm slightly.
Hm, while I am significantly stronger, it’s not to the extent where their attacks have no effect on me. They are capable of hurting me. Their coordination and teamwork is average at best, and that’s being generous...if they were more cohesive as a group, they might stand a slight chance of defeating me.
The Adventurer then quickly raised his half-melted shield up as I fired out a blast of blue flames, which erupted powerfully as it collided against his shield and sent him hurtling back through the air, before a roaring fireball came barreling in towards me from the front, while ice arrows and lightning bolts shot in from my right.
I swiftly raised Magic Eater to my right and swallowed up the ice and lightning, before unleashing a concentrated sphere of blue flames forward from my mouth, canceling out the fireball ahead of me.
"Alright, then. If you refuse to listen to reason, I have no choice but to kill you. Anytime you feel like retreating, go for it...I won’t attack or give chase," I remarked, letting out a sigh as I stood up and stretching my arms out, before cracking my neck with a tilt of my head.
I then raised Magic Eater above me as the Fire Magic user launched himself up into the air with pressurized bursts of flames from his feet and unleashed a scorching blast of flames down towards me, swallowing it up before my gaze darted across to either side as lightning and ice attacks came zipping in towards me.
The attacks collided against each other as I swiftly spread out my wings and flew up into the air, the Fire Magic user’s eyes widening in alarm as I shot straight towards him, grabbing his throat with my right hand before he could react, a choked gasp ringing out.
"Give up and run, or fight and die. Your choice."
"D-Damn, you...!" He uttered through gritted teeth as he began to charge up flames in his hands.
"The latter, then," I remarked, transforming my left hand into a dagger and whipping my arm across, slicing through his neck and severing his head before he could react.
A spray of blood burst out of the stump left around his neck as his body went limp, his head plummeting down and hitting the ground with a thud, before rolling away.
I then tossed his body away as several streaks of lightning came shooting towards me from below, to my right, right before a several spinning disks of ice zipped up from my left.
I rapidly swooped down to the right, weaving around the lightning before transforming my right hand into a blade and driving it forward as I closed in on the Lightning Magic user, plunging the blade into his heart, an agonized wheeze ringing out before he collapsed onto his knees and fell over as I pulled my blade back out with a sharp twist.
As more ice disks then came spinning towards me, I flew up and above them before zipping towards the Ice Magic user at full speed, before quickly flying up as a large ice pillar covered in spikes rapidly rose up towards me as I closed in on her, before unleashing a blazing wave of blue flames down towards her.
She quickly raised a wall of ice in front of herself, but my flames vaporized it in a matter of seconds, a brief scream of pain ringing out before quickly fading as my flames incinerated her body.
A clatter then rang out, I turned my gaze that way to see the Physical Magic user stumbling back shakily, having dropped his axe, a look of immense fear on his face.
The Enchantment and Healing Magic users also looked stricken with fear, none of the remaining three Adventurers showing any signs of wanting to continue to fight.
"Good, looks like you’ve finally gotten it. Now, leave," I stated, the Healer snapping out of it and nodding quietly before grabbing the Enchantment Magic user’s arm, meeting his gaze before they began to walk away, the Physical Magic user hurrying after them.
Hm...actually, before they go...
I then flew over and landed in front of them, the three of them flinching and shrinking back in terror.
"N-No, please..."
"Calm down, I’m not going to kill you. I just have a few questions, answer them and you can get back to leaving. First off...all seven of you are-...sorry, were...-S-Ranks, right? Does that mean you’re among the strongest in this world?" I inquired.
"N-No, we’re not. We’re-...we were all recently promoted to S-Rank, th-this is our first Quest as S-Ranks. W-We’re among the weakest S-Ranks, we’re not all that much stronger than the strongest A-Ranks at the moment," Answered the Healer nervously.
"Right, that makes sense. You all do appear to be fairly young. Are there any S-Ranks as strong or stronger than I am?"
"N-Not individually, no. A-At least, not that I know of," She shook her head in response.
"I see. Tell me, after you leave, will more Adventurers come here to attack me?"
"Um, yes, almost definitely."
"Tch, guess I can’t stay here, then. Let’s see...oh, this Dungeon will disappear if I leave, right?"
"Huh? Y-Yes, we killed all the other Monsters in here, so if you leave, there’ll be none left in this Dungeon, and it’ll disappear."
"Okay, then. Here’s what you’re going to report...you came across an immensely powerful Monster at the top of this Dungeon, and despite suffering casualties, you managed to defeat it. Once I leave the Dungeon, I have no intention of attacking anyone, at least not unprovoked. But I won’t be left with much choice if I’m a target for elimination. So, as far as anyone else is concerned, I don’t exist, got that?"
"I, uh..."
"Okay, let’s make it simpler. If anyone comes after me, I’ll hunt the three of you down and give you slow, painful deaths. And then, I’ll track down everyone you know and love, they’ll suffer the same fate. I can assure you I’m not bluffing, I have all the information I need to find you if it comes to that...Elise Soods, Argyle Wint and Podrick Nillson," I read out their names from their stat screens I’d gotten using Appraisal, all three of their faces going pale.
"Y-You can read our minds?" Stuttered the Healer in shock.
I see no reason to correct her.
"Yeah, something like that. Next question, can I pass for a human? Do you have any way of telling humans and Unique Monsters apart?" I asked her, retracting my tail and wings.
"Y-Yes, every city, town and village have detection barriers set up around them, we’ll be alerted instantly if any Monsters cross those barriers. There are also physical barrier to keep Monsters out, b-but those aren’t strong enough for Monsters as powerful as you are."
I suppose that rules out blending in with humans and living under the radar, I’ll have to find a cave or something to live in instead. Right now, I just want to be alone...maybe that’ll change in the future, but for now, I have no interest in interacting with anyone.
"Alright, final question. Are there any other Unique Monsters currently in existence, besides me?"
"N-No, not in this nation, at least not as far as we know. I-I don’t know if it’s any different in the other nations."
"Hm...a small follow up, tell me about the geography of this place."
"Huh? Uh, well...this is the nation of Hyuma, most of the population is made up of humans, but there are also Elves, Dwarves and Demi-Humans, each of those races have their own nations on this continent too."
"And the name of this continent, plus the names of the other nations in it?"
"The continent is called Kreisylia. It’s a massive island that’s isolated from the rest of the world. The Elven nation is called Levef, the Dwarven nation is called Ward and the Demi-Human nation is called Faunall."
I know most of this information is probably in my System, but this is easier than reading through whatever amount of text. Alright, I think that’s enough.
"Okay, thanks. You can go now, as promised."
