Chapter 428: Chapter 428 - Counterattack(Part 13)

It really worked...I honestly wasn’t expecting it to. I figured I’d have to end up fighting him directly and try to overpower or outsmart him somehow, but I’m glad it didn’t have to come to that.

His Unique Ability is way too broken, my chances against him in a one-on-one fight would be slim, at best, no matter how much Satan managed to wear him out using his Berserker ability.

That’s exactly why I wanted to avoid a head-on battle, and I got what I wanted. Alright, then, time to finish this.

I then sent several slime tendrils slithering down his throat, before branching them out into razor sharp spikes inside him, violent spasms and shudders of pain erupting across his body, trails of blood trickling down the corners of his mouth through the slime flooding the inside of his mouth.

It didn’t take more than a few seconds before I hit his core, a sharp cracking sound echoing out inside his body, around the right side of his waist, as one of my slime spikes pierced right through it.

His body seized up in agony as I fatally damaged his core, before a look of acceptance and resignment appeared in his eyes as his shoulders slumped, his will to fight completely gone.

"Wh-what...what an anticlimactic conclusion this is. Truly a humiliating way to die," He sighed wistfully, as I released my slimy restraints and he collapsed onto his knees.

Yeah, he’s definitely not going to attack anymore, I don’t sense a shred murderous intent or the will to fight from him anymore, seems he’s accepted his fate.

"Yeah, well, you brought it on yourself, you know. You could’ve been satisfied with taking over the Light Continent, you had half this world under your control...but you got too greedy. And because of that greed, you’ve now lost everything," I remarked, as he let out a slight chuckle.

"Yes, you may be right about that. But I never saw it that way...it was simply what my pride dictated, nothing more. I suppose our pride was ultimately our greatest weakness," He replied as blood poured out of his mouth, the light starting to fade from his eyes.

Eh, same difference, greed or pride, they’re both deadly sins. Huh, I wonder if the seven deadly sins are a thing in this world? I suppose it doesn’t really matter.

"Honestly, it’s kind of a waste...if you had allied with us like the Demons and Dragon Kings did, you could’ve prospered alongside us. But instead, one of the three great Demonic Grade races has been driven to extinction," I remarked with a wry smile.

"That’s all easy to say in hindsight...but we never would have agreed to such an alliance, our kind has always perceived humans in the same way your kind perceives livestock, it’s simply an instinct to us. Hm...it appears my time is almost up," He responded as blood streamed down his eyes, before he met my gaze and added, "One last thing, before I perish...tell me, how is it that you know of my original name? All those who knew of it have been dead for centuries, that information should have been lost a long time ago."

"Well, I suppose there’s no harm in telling you," I replied, taking a glance back at Satan, who was still unconscious, before turning my attention back to Dracula and explaining, "See, I’m from another world...specifically, I was reincarnated into this world with my memories of my past life in a different world intact. And in that world, you were a fictional character. And that character’s real name was Vlad Tepes, also known as Vlad the Impaler. Hm...actually, I think he might have been a real person, if I remember right. And there were a lot of fictional versions of him written in stories, loosely based on the real historic figure. Or something like that, I don’t know, I wasn’t exactly a big history buff or anything like that."

"Huh...I must say, that has to be the most bizarre thing I’ve ever heard. And yet...I sense no deceit in your words, none whatsoever. What a truly asinine final conversation this is," He sighed with a shake of his head, before his eyelids slowly began to close as he slumped over, collapsing onto the floor with a thud.

I extended out a slime tendril and cautiously poked at his body, before turning him over and feeling for a pulse...hm, nothing.

He’s really dead. It’s finally over.

I let out a sigh of relief before taking a seat on a large chunk of rubble and stared up at the sky, a pleasant breeze blowing across the area...hm, I wonder if the others are done too?

I know the other Elder Vampires are a fair bit weaker than Dracula is, but I don’t know for myself just how strong they are. I haven’t fought any of them, heck, I don’t even know what any of them look like.

Hm, I’m fairly certain that they can handle it, but I am a little worried. Maybe I should go check on them, just in case...it certainly wouldn’t hurt, and I can’t rule out the possibility that at least one of the groups are struggling against their opponent.

I then stood up and walked over towards Satan, before leaning down and smacking his face, trying to wake him up. Dracula really nailed him on the chin, probably gave him a nasty concussion, he’s out cold.

Well, thanks to his regeneration, I’m sure he’s fine now, just gotta wake him up...smacking him isn’t working though, so I might have to try something a little more drastic...

He sat up with a start as I dropped a ball of water down towards him, which struck his face with a loud splash, eliciting a startled gasp from him as he looked around with a bewildered look on his face.

"Wh-what’s going on? What happened!?"

"Hey, relax, man. It’s over, Dracula’s dead, we won," I informed him with a thumbs up, before nodding towards the Vampire King’s corpse.

"Oh...I see. I don’t remember anything...tch, this is why I hate using my Berserker ability, it leaves me with no recollection of what I did while in that state," He sighed as he got back onto his feet and dusted himself off.

"You did great, you managed to land some solid hits on him and wore him down, which let me snare him with my slime and finish him off."

"I see, well done. With Dracula dead, this conflict is finally over," He replied with a sigh of relief.

"Mhm, it sure is. But the battle’s likely still going on out there, so we should go find the others," I suggested as I stretched my arms up.

"Yes, good call, we shouldn’t let out guards down just yet."
