Chapter 416: Chapter 416 - Counterattack(Part 1)
"Pretty wild that my first time in the Light Continent in under these circumstances. More importantly, that’s a whole lot of Lesser Vampires," I remarked warily.
"Their numbers may be vast, but I doubt they’re going to be too much of a threat," Responded Satan, as we hovered in the air outside the border of the city the Vampires were in.
Today’s the 21st of Quintilis, 2021, and we were currently in the Light Continent, in the nation at the center of the continent, Lux. We were right outside the Capital of the nation, a city called Aotrom, where the Vampires had taken up residence in.
It’s around 10 AM right now, we wanted to launch the attack early so that we’d have the chance to wrap up the battle before the sun starts to set.
"The Elder Vampires are probably in the castle in the middle of the city. We should just fly right over the swarms of Vampires and Lesser Vampires and head straight for it," Suggested Lucifer, as she cracked her knuckles.
"Isn’t there a chance that they’ve spread out across the city?" Pointed out Argent warily.
"Yes, but I’d say that’s unlikely. They no longer hold the advantage in this battle, so I believe it’s highly probable that they will concentrate the core of their forces in one place," Replied Satan after mulling it over for a moment.
"I guess that makes sense...and I’ll be able to confirm it once we get close to the castle. Thanks to my Contract with Frielektra, my Radar Skill has gotten sharper...I can sense how powerful any beings within its range are, so if all four of the Elder Vampires are in the castle, I’ll be able to tell," Remarked Argent, a gleam of determination in his eyes.
"Alright, then...without any further ado, let’s get started, shall we?" I suggested as I glanced around at the others, who nodded affirmatively.
We then shot forward through the air, making it past the border as the rest of our forces charged in on foot, an army made up of the fighting forces of all five nations of the Dark Continent.
There were twelve of us who would be facing the Elder Vampires, while the rest would handle the Vampires and Lesser Vampires.
Those twelve included myself, Satan, Lucifer, Vorph, Izzy, Terrastra, Aereeze, Ilex, Argent, Lumena, Tania and Prysm.
We’d divided up into four groups of three, one to handle each of the four Elder Vampires. Now that we have a working counter against their moonlight barrier, we don’t have to worry about going up against their full power...otherwise, we wouldn’t have included Prysm in this, and Lumena and Tania would possibly have been excluded too.
The plan was for myself, Satan and Aereeze to take on Dracula, while Argent, Izzy and Prysm would target Caera. Lumena, Pavorphobus and Lucifer would go up against Lavinia, since Lumena’s smoke form would make her immune to the Vampire’s toxic blood, and the other two would be able to deal with it thanks to their regeneration.
And finally, Ilex, Tania and Terrastra would take on Jagger. Ilex and Terrastra are both powerful long-range fighters, and Tania’s abilities as a support option are second to none, I figured they’d make for a good match-up against Jagger’s primarily close-range attacks with his Unique Ability Senescence.
Pavorphobus was a bit disgruntled that we didn’t assign her to fight him, but the fact is that she isn’t the best match-up against him. And she understood that, so while she wasn’t happy about it, she grudgingly accepted it.
Anyway, as we flew into the city, several Vampires and Lesser Vampires began to fly up towards us, before many of them were promptly shot down by the rest of our forces, while Lumena and I formed black holes below us to swallow up the ones that managed to evade the attacks and close in on us.
As we made it deeper into the city and away from our forces, Satan began firing off Obliteration blasts to further fend up the Vampires and Lesser Vampires targeting us.
The Vampires were launching their blood-based attacks, but they just got swallowed up by our black holes well before they could reach us.
So far, so good, and the castle’s well within sight now...
"Do you sense anything yet?" Lucifer asked Argent, as we steadily closed in on the large building.
"Yeah, I do. No doubt about it, I’m sensing four distinctly powerful presences in there. And there’s one that’s especially powerful towards the back of the building, I’m guessing that’s probably Dracula. Not sure about the other four, though...also, I can sense eighty Vampires in there, twenty around each of the Elder Vampires," He informed us, after taking a moment to focus on his Radar Skill.
"I see...yes, I did feel like we were seeing too few Vampires out here, that explains it. And almost all the Vampires I noticed targeted the twelve of us instead of going after the rest of our forces. It seems the Elder Vampires have decided to stake this battle on themselves, they must be hoping that they’ll be able to defeat those of us who target them. It’s not a bad strategy, if they do manage to kill us, it won’t be too difficult for them to wipe out the rest of our forces," Surmised Satan in response.
"Except, they likely haven’t accounted for my counter Magic Item against their moonlight barrier. And I seriously doubt they’ve managed to make any significant enough improvements to it to negate my nullifying item," Spoke up Lumena.
"And even if they have, I should be able to unravel it...I’ve done it once, and I can do it again," Stated Tania confidently.
"Alright, Satan, Aereeze and I will head to the back of the building and target Dracula. The rest of you, stick together and head for each of the other three one by one, and whichever group we assigned to target the one you first encounter, attack that one while the others then head off to the next Vampire," I remarked, before Satan, Aereeze and I split off from the group and went on ahead...
