Chapter 409: Chapter 409 - What a Shame

"I...I see. I’m not sure what to say. This is...this is a lot to process," Remarked Satan, a shaken look on his face.
Yeah, I can’t blame him for being taken aback by this, I still haven’t come to terms with it myself. A few hours had passed since all the Vampires retreated, and just now, Izzy and I informed Satan about what happened with Frielektra, how she sacrificed herself by forming a Contract with me to save my life.
I’m glad I’m still alive, I definitely didn’t want to die, but...I just can’t feel good about surviving like this. Frielektra gave up everything to save me, and I can’t help but feel incredibly guilty about that.
"I’m sorry...if I was stronger, she wouldn’t have needed to sacrifice herself in the first place. If you’re going to blame someone for what happened, you have every right to blame me," I replied as I bowed my head to him.
"No, I disagree with that. It was my choice to make," Spoke up Frielektra inside my head.
Even so, I...
"Hey, come on, Argent...you don’t need to apologize. The only reason you got so badly injured in the first place was because you used your body to shield me. So, if anything, this is my fault," Responded Izzy, as she placed her hand on my shoulder.
"She’s right...lift your head, Argent Stryker. You are not to blame for this, and I have no intention of doing so. If anything, you deserve my gratitude...thank you for protecting my daughter, even at the cost of your own life. And I’m certain that Frielektra would not have formed a Contract with you if she did not want to...it was a decision she made, and I shall respect that decision. It would be an insult to her if I didn’t," Said Satan, before clenching his fists slightly.
"See, he’s of the same opinion. You have no reason to harbor any guilt, I simply decided to save your life of my own accord, that’s all there is to it," Added Frielektra.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m more grateful than I can put into words, but still, it just doesn’t sit right with me that I had to be saved at the cost of your freedom.
"If there’s any way to undo a Contract and separate us, I’m more than willing to do so. Is there a way?" I asked Satan.
"No, I don’t believe there is. Since Contracts are rare, I can’t say for certain, but as I understand it, when a Contract is formed, the physical form of the one who bestows the Contract disintegrates away, so even if there was a way to separate their consciousness, there won’t be a body to house them," Satan replied with a shake of his head.
Right, Frielektra’s body did fade away when she formed the Contract with me.
"Seriously, cheer up...you didn’t do anything wrong, and besides, it’s not like she’s gone," Pointed out Izzy.
"She’s right. She exists within you now," Nodded Satan, before adding, "All you need to focus on is making sure that she didn’t make a mistake saving you. With this Contract, you’ve now gained immense power, the power of the Plasma Dragon King. Use that power to protect Izzy, to eliminate any threats to her."
"And that goes both ways, you protect me and I’ll protect you," Smiled Izzy as she lightly bumped her shoulder against mine.
"I will...you have my word on that," I replied without hesitation.
"Good, I trust that you will stay true to those words. Train hard to master your newfound power as quickly as possible...I’m sure we will not wait long before launching our counterattack. Those damned bloodsuckers...we’ll wipe them off the face of the map," Growled Satan with a seething look on his face, immense rage and hatred in his eyes.
"Yeah, I very much agree with that sentiment," Nodded Izzy in response, the purple energy flowing out of her right eye intensifying slightly.
"Even if the one directly responsible for this has already perished, none of this would have happened had they not attacked us unprovoked. A mistake that they will soon come to regret, and the last mistake they shall ever make," Declared Satan with a look of determination.
"I must say, I’m quite touched, to see them so emotional on my behalf," Remarked Frielektra cheerfully.
You sure are taking this well, aren’t you? Wanna take over for a bit and talk to them? Actually, on that note, whenever you feel like taking over, please tell me, I won’t hesitate to hand control over to you...well, depending on the situation, at least.
"I appreciate that, and yes, if you wouldn’t mind, I’d like to speak with them for a while."
Alright, then, let’s switch control.
"It won’t be as frequent as before, but we can still speak to each other from time to time," She said to Satan as she took control of my body.
"Huh? Wait, is that you, Frielektra?"
"Yes, it’s me. And really, this isn’t that bad a situation...we Dragon Kings are used to spending extensive periods of time in hibernation, and this feels very similar to that. And I can always switch control of this body with Argent if I want to, so really, not much has changed...well, I suppose we cannot have sexual intercourse anymore, so there is that. Hm...but then again, maybe we can. You could anally penetrate-..."
Yeah, uh, I’m gonna have to stop you right there. Sorry, but that’s where I draw the line, I’m absolutely not comfortable with that.
"No way! I don’t want my father inside Argent’s butt!" Protested Izzy immediately, looking a bit horrified.
"I very, VERY strongly agree with that," Nodded Satan without hesitation.
"Well, if all three of you are objecting to it this strongly, I suppose that’s that. What a shame," Sighed Frielektra in disappointment...
