Chapter 239: Five Mountains
While the disciple selection process continued, Albert and the others flew toward their next home. Flying was one of the standard ability that a cultivator had, so all of them had their own cultivation spell. Though, Albert and Gin learned directly from Su Yue, allowing them to be able to fly like a normal cultivator.
"Do you know anything about our Master or our peak?" Shi Lan asked.
Albert shook his head while Gin explained. "We just came out of the mountain after our training and went here to gain some experience."
"Oh?" Shi Lan glanced at Gin for a moment before nodding her head. "Anyway, I’ll give you some information about the Five Elements Mountain, since you don’t seem to know much."
"We appreciate it." Albert accepted it without hesitation.
"If we take a look at the world, our Five Elements Mountain is considered a hidden power, with strength that is equal to top influences in this world.
"If we take a look inside our Five Elements Mountain, this place has seventeen hills and five big mountains. Those seventeen hills are where the Outer and Inner Disciples are as normal Elders will be stationed around there too. Of course, if any Elders from the big mountains ask you to live with them, you can move out from there and live together with other Core Disciples. And different from the hills, the mountains have rich energy.
"As for the Five Big Mountains, they are for the first, second, and third elders as well as the mountain master and the disciplinary hall under the great elder.
"Master Li Mu is the second elder. Basically his status is equal to the first and third elders and only under the mountain master and the great elder.
"Master Li Mu is exceptional as an elder that wields wind, lightning, light and dark elements. The first elder is known to be an Elemental Array Master while the third elder has a unique ability for those who like gardening or alchemy.
"This generation mountain master is truly powerful as he can wield five elements with all of them being Grade 8 Elements. That’s why the competition to become the mountain master’s disciple becomes fiercer this time around. Anyway, that’s not important for you. I just want you to remember that many forces are most likely observing you since Master rarely accepts disciples. Just know that and don’t make any rash movements. If you don’t know anything, just ask Master for advice.
"That’s all I guess? The rest will be explained by master." Shi Lan stopped her explanation while recalling whether she had forgotten any details.
Suddenly, Gin asked, "Is there any difference between all peaks?"
"For mountains? Not really. They’re rich in energy... Just don’t go to the mountain master’s peak as they’re heavily guarded and most elders live there. Ah, right. I forgot to mention about martial arts.
"Basically, we have a Martial Art Tower and other stuff in both Fire Peak and Water Peak. It’s just the name for Mountain Master’s peak and Great Elder’s Peak. First, second, and third elders have Wood, Wind, and Lightning Peak. But that’s just the name, there’s nothing special other than that.
"Anyway, you can get some contribution points by doing some missions and exchange those points with Martial Arts or resources. Of course, being an Inner Disciple or even Core Disciples gives you more benefits."
"I see." Albert nodded in understanding while Gin asked another question. "One last question, how about the rules? We don’t like to do unlawful things."
"Oh? The rules are simple. First, don’t betray the Five Elements Mountain. Second, disciples can’t cause harm to each other than inside either the sparring arena or life-and-death arena. Third, you shouldn’t disclose the information that you know from the Five Elements Mountain, especially the Martial Arts. That’s the gist of it. More complex than that, you won’t know that you’ve broken a rule."
’Life-and-death arena.’ Gin narrowed his eyes. ’To think it exists here... The arena where the elders of your enemies will come at you by exploiting any excuses that doesn’t make senses.’
"That’s good enough for now. We’ll just experience more and learn as we explore this place."
"Alright. We will arrive in two breaths."
They nodded while Albert went to Gin and asked in a low voice. "I’ve been hearing this, but what’s wrong with the measurement system? What’s Jin? Breath?"
"Ah, basically, 1 jin is 0.5 kg."
"Kg?"
"..." Gin suddenly looked at Albert in disgust as he asked, "You can’t be... from the few countries that uses british units, I mean British Imperial System?"
"What’s wrong with that?" Albert tilted his head in confusion.
"Well, let me make a simple calculation." Gin scratched the back of his head. "1 jin is 0.5 kg, equal to 1.3 lbs. 1 li is 0.5 km or 0.3 mile. Breaths... Even I’m not that verse with this one. Just your normal breaths, I guess?"
"Well, I don’t know if I should change my own system or what?" Albert felt all these conversions were a headache. "Anyway, I got the gist of it. I will just see whether I will do the conversion or just follow their system."
"That’s up to you as long as you don’t show it openly."
"That’s easy anyway." Albert nodded. "But I guess we found more trouble than we originally expected..."
"Yes. I’m afraid that Wen Qing will be targeting us. But I think Li Mu should be able to handle it. The one we should be careful of is Gu Fei. I believe his elders or relatives’ favorite phrase is ’Courting Death.’ I’m sick of reading the same line over and over again when reading novels."
"I don’t understand what you mean, but I know Gu Fei is dangerous."
"Yep. Basically, we need to assess the situation first before going around. I’ll take care of that."
"Bonkichi and little salamander can do it too..."
"There it is, our Wind Peak." Shi Lan suddenly broke her silence again, pointing forward.
There was a huge mountain that pierced through the sky. Its area alone was two times the size of the Lust Kingdom’s capital city, but more importantly, Albert, with his Bonk Eyes, could see the ridiculous amount of energy coming to the sky, specifically the top of the mountain.
