Chapter 238: Vicious Cycle
"This is..." Wen Qing was shocked when Albert showed several elements. This was the guy she scorned earlier for not having any achievement under his belt. It turned out he was the most talented one.
Still, there was one thing that puzzled her mind. It was the crystal’s result. The crystal always produced a result that they could read. This was the first case that she couldn’t understand anything from the crystal.
When she glanced at Li Mu and saw him crying, she was shocked beyond belief.
However, that shock turned into confusion when Li Mu suddenly shouted at the top of his lungs to the point he released all his Spiritual Energy just to send a voice message.
"Shi Lan! Come over here immediately!" Li Mu shouted.
"What is this loud voice?"
"It’s too loud."
Many people were covering their ears as they didn’t understand what Li Mu was planning to do.
However, a few people recognized the name in Li Mu’s mouth. That name had made a great impact after all... as Li Mu’s disciple.
In just three minutes, a beautiful blue-haired lady descended from the sky. Sweat covered her forehead and she looked exhausted, but she still maintained her demeanor as to not show any tiredness like panting.
"Master." She clasped her hands and gracefully lowered her head, greeting Li Mu.
"Can you bring them to our peak first?"
"I don’t mind, but is that alright?" Shi Lan tilted her head in confusion before observing Albert. She thought there must be a reason for Li Mu’s request, so she wondered what was special about them.
Li Mu nodded and said, "They’re going to be your brothers and sister. I’ll tell you what happens when I’ve finished my job here."
"Understood, Master." Shi Lan was startled to hear she suddenly got three juniors, but it was certainly joyful news, considering Li Mu rarely accepted disciples.
She then walked toward Albert and the others and politely nodded to them. "Hello, brothers and sister... I am Shi Lan, Master Li Mu’s first disciple. Although I want to talk with you guys a bit more, I’m afraid we need to skip the pleasantries and head to our home. I wonder if you can follow me?"
Albert nodded as he also remembered what Gin told him. He clasped his hands and said, "Then, we will ask Senior Sister’s guidance."
"Uhm?" Shi Lan widened her eyes before chuckling. "Hahaha, anyway, let’s go."
Gin could only facepalm. Even though he had taught many things to Albert, it was hard to apply everything. Albert should have said, "We’re grateful for Senior Sister’s kindness," because Guidance was usually used for a fight or lecture.
Shi Lan must think Albert had a weird talking style.
However, before they left the area, Wen Qing shouted, "Stop!"
Li Mu frowned and walked between Shi Lan and Wen Qing. "What do you want?"
"This is not fair! Are you going to hog everything here?"
"What do you mean hogging everything? Didn’t I give you those three? As you said earlier, they’ve their own achievement under their belts while mine is diamond in rough. That’s all." Li Mu smiled. "Three for three. Isn’t that an equal trade? It was you who couldn’t see their potential, Wen Qing."
"Li Mu, you..."
Li Mu ignored her and told Shi Lan. "You can leave. I’ll take care of the situation here."
"Understood." Shi Lan nodded and immediately brought them to the sky.
Wen Qing tried to stop them, but Li Mu kept preventing her from doing anything she wanted.
Meanwhile, Feng Xue stood next to her father as the latter whispered something. "What do you think about them?"
"Their talent exceeds mine. It’s my complete loss. However, this is not the end of the journey. A talent can be polished by the teacher, but life and death situations will make them shine. No matter how others compare me to them, I shall shine in my own light." Feng Xue answered with a calm expression. She would be lying if she said she wasn’t jealous. However, she was aware that there was a sky above the sky. Hence, the only thing she needed to do was to surpass that sky by her own effort and talent.
"Good. So, I think you know what you need to do?" The City Lord whispered in a voice that only she could hear. "If you can, have them as your friends. If you can’t, don’t be their enemies. There might be conflict between the two Elders, so create a backup plan."
"Don’t worry, Father. I’ll not disappoint you." Feng Xue nodded.
"Good." The City Lord smiled and patted her shoulder.
Feng Xue looked at the disappearing figures in the sky while clenching her fists.
Meanwhile, there was one more person that had been shamed to the fullest in this selection process.
He was none other than Gu Fei, the man who looked down on them. In fact, the entire situation was caused by him.
If not because of him approaching Albert and Gin and talking bad about them, Wen Qing wouldn’t be involved. She would even get one of them.
But because Gu Fei looked down on them and Wen Qing used it as an opportunity to teach the others that they could do nothing without talent, it ended up as a backfire, causing all this mess.
In the end, Wen Qing even created a spark in their relationship. As for Gu Fei, his fate would be worse.
At first, he thought he could rely on Wen Qing to suppress others, but due to this, Wen Qing would realize he was at fault. And his life under Wen Qing’s tutelage would be filled with hardship.
Hence, there was only one thing that he could do.
He thought, ’Those bastards. If not because of them... I will kill them before they can grow anymore. I need to contact my uncle and brother to kill them. That way, I will be one of the best in this generation.’
If Gin knew about his thoughts, he would shake his head, wondering how they needed to die just because they followed the procedure in the selection process.
Without them realizing, Albert and the others had been trapped inside the never-ending murdering cycle.
