Chapter 511: Bone Construct

Looking back at the terrifying monster that had suddenly burst out of the ground beneath the leading necromancer before finding said necromancer now standing on the head of the towering being hidden by the purple colored miasma that hid its massive body from view, Verdell could not help silently swallowing as he realized that this powerful necromancer wasn’t looking towards the massive mist serpent, but had instead shifted her attention towards him.

Along with her earlier words, Verdell understood that this necromancer wanted nothing more than to command that towering creature beneath her feet to attack him.

Rumble~

Fortunately for him, she didn’t get the opportunity to do so, as the mist serpent seemed to recover from the shock of the towering miasma covered being and angrily surged forth filled with killing intent. The unique ability of the purple miasma to counter the mist that made up the body of the mist serpent having clearly drawn the full wrath of this powerful monster and made it entirely forget about the dragon and dwarf it had been chasing after only a few seconds earlier.

BANG-!

And only a short time later, the two massive beings clashed violently with each other, causing waves of mist and miasma to scatter and roll across the large battlefield. Plunging everything into a sea of two opposing colors. One belonging to the purple miasma of the one under the control of the lading necromancer while the other belonged to the mist of the mist serpent.

The clash between the two affected an area so large that the group of adventurers that had originally settled in as spectators found themselves forced to retreat to avoid getting caught up in the spreading miasma and mist. None of them were planning to touch either of the two, especially the purple miasma that looked toxic.

But even though they were forced into a retreat, the group of adventurers were happy with the current situation, as the necromancers of the Eternal Life Sanctum had now been forced into going all out to try and fend off against the mist serpent that had originally been focused on attacking the dungeon guardian construct protecting the dungeon core.

If both sides destroyed each other, that would be for the best, though even if the necromancers of the Eternal Life Sanctum ended up successfully taking down the mist serpent, the cost of doing so would undoubtedly leave them unable to do anything to the dungeon guardian construct that was now standing firmly before the dungeon core. Blocking anyone who was daring enough to get too close.

On the contrary, the necromancers might need to start worrying about a potential retaliation from the monsters under the control of the dungeon once the battle with the mist serpent came to an end. After all, it was only right for an enemy to hit them when they were down, much like what they had originally planned to do to the dungeon core when it had been forced to pull out its dungeon guardian construct to fend off against the mist serpent.

If not for the fact that the battle between the mist serpent and the being still shrouded by the purple miasma was of too high a level for them to recklessly participate in, they would have already jumped forward to hit the necromancers while they were down and lend the mist serpent a hand in taking down the necromancers.

After all, though the battle seemed equal from the initial clash, it was also clear that the purple miasma seemed to have a suppressive effect on the mist of the mist serpent. Making it difficult for the mist serpent to utilize its greatest power against the miasma shrouded creature under the control of the leading necromancer.

And while the adventurers retreated to a safe distance to observe the terrifying battle from a safe distance, Scaly finally felt that the mist serpent had shifted its attention away from her. Giving her the chance to stop herself midair and turn around to watch the battle between the leading necromancer and the mist serpent like the rest of the people, monsters and undead alike had done.

At the end of the day, there was no way for anyone other than the dungeon core to interfere with the battle currently playing out and the dungeon core clearly had no intention of lending either side a hand, as both could already be considered enemies in the eyes of the dungeon core, who wanted nothing more than to watch the two of them tear each other apart from the side.

The adventurers might be strong enough to join, but the risk of doing so was clearly far too great, as they had essentially settled down to watch the battle from afar like so many others.

Although... Different from everyone else who were unable to see what was hidden beneath the purple miasma, Scaly could see what was hidden beneath- or more accurately, she could inspect the one hidden beneath the miasma.

[Miasma Devouring Bone Construct (Mountain Breaking Lizard Template), lvl 211]

[Description: A unique bone construct invented by an ancient lich that can take countless forms depending on the template used for the bone construct and the quality of materials in the construction of the bone construct. From the weakest bone construct barely comparable to a newbie adventurer created by junior acolytes who only recently became necromancers to massive creations with strength above the SS Rank.

The Miasma Devouring Bone Construct not only follows a unique bone creation process involving the death energy rich miasma or mist, but also follows the mountain breaking lizard template, a monster the size of a small mountain that is known to be one of the only lizards capable of surpassing the dragons in terms of physical strength. Originally, the mountain breaking lizard is an SS Rank Monster, but special circumstances can allow it to surpass the SS Rank. In this case, the unique miasma devouring bone construct served as a catalyst that allowed the template to evolve and surpass the SS Rank.]

Reading through the description of the monster or rather bone construct hidden beneath the purple miasma, Scaly’s first reaction wasn’t surprise or shock. Instead, it was anger. Anger at the daring words within the description that stated a lizard could be superior to a dragon in any way.

Although she herself had once been a lizard in the past, that was the past, she was now a full-fledged dragon and had long since shed her identity as a lizard.

Even if the evolution choices seemingly wanted to pull her back down whenever she evolved. Flooding her with countless unique lizard evolution that she had a feeling she would encounter when she evolved again in the future...

That aside, her original intentions of trying to fish in troubled waters and use the fight playing out between the mist serpent and the leading necromancer from the Eternal Life Sanctum shifted slightly because of this information, as she silently decided that the first target when an opportunity presented itself wouldn’t be the mist serpent, but instead the bone construct under the control of the leading necromancer.

Not just because her feelings had been somewhat affected by reading the description of the bone construct under the control of the leading necromancer, but also because she realized that targeting the bone construct first meant that she would also be able to kill off the leading necromancer alongside the bone construct.

In other words, a two for one deal that would make up for it even if she wasn’t able to put an end to the mist serpent by first targeting the bone construct and the leading necromancer, something that was worth it given how targeting the mist serpent might result in her being unable to kill the bone construct and the leading necromancer... And two were undoubtedly worth more experience than just one target.

Feeling satisfied with her plans on what to do, Scaly realized that she had nothing to do while waiting for the two sides to exhaust one another.

Targeting the monsters, undead and skeletons below was an option, but she had a feeling doing so wouldn’t be the greatest idea, as she might end up drawing the anger of every observing party and turn herself into an enemy of everyone at the same time. Leaving her little to no chance at killing the leading necromancer using a bone construct that directly looked down on dragons.

Unknown to her, this action ended up drawing far more attention to her from the spectators that had seen how everything played out from start to finish- or more specifically, it drew more attention to the dwarf on her back, as everyone below believed that everything that had just happened was part of his plan to force the necromancers to pull out their trump card and take care of the mist serpent.

As for the person in question... He was nervously watching everything play out with a hard kept composed expression on his face. Never having felt so exposed as he was at the moment, as even those powerful adventurers far above him in terms of strength were now looking towards him filled with awe...
