Chapter 493: Circular Wave Spell

Accelerating her own speed through wind magic towards the necromancer at the soul weaver rank, Scaly felt somewhat smug about overtaking Verdell who had started his descend towards the ground ahead of her.

A smugness that lasted for exactly two seconds before the realization that she had no way to slow herself down suddenly hit and she desperately attempted to unfurl her wings and use her wind magic to slow herself down and prevent something like what had happened during her escape from the powerful toad monster from happening again. Understanding that there would be little to way for her to get out alive if she ended up being knocked out in the middle of a ten thousand strong undead army.

Whoosh~

"Huh?"

BAAANG!

And with the confused sound of the older necromancer below her looking up in shock followed by horror upon sensing the wind blowing down on him from above, Scaly’s large body crashed directly into the unsuspecting frail necromancer whose magical barriers provided no resistance against her falling down on top of it- or it did provide a bit of resistance before crumbling beneath her weight. Partly due to her wind magic unintentionally weakening the magic barrier that had been protecting the older necromancer in her vain attempt to slow her own descent.

His already frail old body providing no resistance as he was directly killed when she crashed into him from above. Increasing her level from 33 to 34 in the process.

But more surprisingly than the sudden death of the lead necromancer of the undead army, Scaly found herself completely uninjured as she landed on the ground. The magic barrier of the necromancer having provided her with a soft cushion to slow down her fall before the necromancer himself took the last bit of the rough landing off her shoulders and sacrificed his life to ensure she landed safely on the ground.

The only negative to the landing being the new paintjob her scales got thanks to the cushion that was far from intact beneath her, something that she wasted no time cleaning up with a bit of water magic before her attention abruptly shifted towards a bright light in sky not too far away from her. Looking closer only to discover that this bright light emerging in the sky above was none other than Verdell who had turned himself into a dwarf shaped ball of fire that plummeted downwards-

BOOOOM-!

And only a few seconds later exploded in the back of the undead army, causing wave of flames rising more than seven meters into the sky to surge outwards from where he landed. Vaporizing a vast number of undead and skeleton alike in the process before the dwarf in question emerged from a small crater where the weaker necromancer had once stood.

This kind of entrance was a bit too much compared to her rather embarrassing entrance. Even if both had ultimately succeeded in taking care of the necromancer they had been assigned to, Scaly felt like she had lost to this dwarf in terms of appearance this time around...

No, this is only the beginning! Why am I thinking about being outdone by this dwarf!? In the end, I killed the necromancer faster than him even though the necromancer I’m dealing with was stronger!

Shaking her head in annoyance at her own thoughts of admiration towards the epic entrance of Verdell, Scaly shifted her attention towards the undead all around her that had entered a state of shock following the death of the necromancer who had bene controlling them-

Bang! Craack~

[Gained 6622 Exp]

Not wasting a second after her attention returned before she directly smashed the skull of a nearby skeleton still in a state of confusion. Destroying it in a single move that immediately seemed to wake the surrounding skeletons and undead up from their dazed state as they all began swarming towards her recklessly without any regard for their own safety. A situation that the monsters at the frontlines also found themselves facing, as the undead and skeletons that had been moving in formation and slowly grinding away at their numbers suddenly sprung forth in a reckless manner disregarding that completely disregarded their own wellbeing.

Had the monsters under the control of the dungeon core not already been ground down to the point where only a little under twenty percent of the original number was left by now, this would have allowed them to push back and potentially overwhelm the undead army.

Unfortunately, in the current state where they were outnumbered 1 to 5 and with their S Rank monsters far outnumbered by S Rank undead and skeletons, they stood no chance when the undead army descended into madness and ran wild without any regard for their own life.

Of course, to Scaly and Verdell, the shift in the battle between the monsters and the undead didn’t matter much, as both were busy fighting for their life amidst the vast army of undead, with Verdell having an easier time compared to Scaly, as his landing had cleared out a path out of the undead army that allowed him to at least keep some distance between himself and the undead who were now chasing after him in the hundreds.

Scaly, who had already cleared out a fair number of undead without using any magic after her landing, took the opportunity before she was overwhelmed to take to the sky again in preparation for testing out her large-scale magic for the first time on this vast army of undead-

Whoosh~

Whoosh~

Whoosh~

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Unfortunately, compared to battle she had fought so far, she wasn’t exactly safe after getting into the air, as there was no lack of skeleton archers and mages within the undead army below. Not to mention unique undead being capable of flying after her or using their own special kind of magic to try and shoot her down.

The only positive was the fact that the powerful undead and skeletons at the S Rank that could pose a real threat to her if they came at her in large enough numbers were preoccupied at the frontlines fighting off the S Rank Monster.

After shaking off the undead beings that had flown into the sky to chase after her and created a significant distance between herself and those skeleton archers and mages below, she finally took the opportunity to start conjuring up the magic she had come up with for dealing with a large number of enemies at the same time using her water magic as the foundation.

Soon enough, causing a vast sphere of water to silently form above her head. Growing without pause before reaching some kind of limit. After which she silently commanded the water sphere to drop towards the ground below-

Ruuuumble~! BAAANG!

Watching in awe as the sphere of water crashed into the ground below and directly cracked the ground itself before popping like an oversized water ballon, causing the vast quantity of water inside the sphere to surge outwards.

This could be considered the time where this little experimental spell of hers truly took effect, as from above, she silently used her magic to manipulate the vast quantity of water below into forming towering waves that surged outwards in all directions with a terrifying might that left no undead caught in the surging tides standing... And even if these undead somehow managed to survive being swept away, the terrifying currents within the water would directly tear them apart. Leaving them no path of survival as the circular wave of water spread outwards from the very core of the undead army.

And because of this terrifying level of destruction, it caused an equally vast quantity of experience to flood in as thousands of undead, both powerful and weak alike perished in the face of this terrifying spell. Leaving behind only a path of destruction wherever the water passed.

The only detriment to this powerful water magic that she attempted for the first time against this vast army of undead, was the fact that the mana required was downright terrifying.

Not only requiring a vast quantity of mana to conjure the initial sphere of water that was dropped from above, but requiring even more to conjure up the waves of water that swept outwards from the water when it landed on the ground along with the current that tore apart anything caught within the water, a cost that only increased the further outwards the wave of water spread. Forcing her to ultimately cut off the connection and allow the terrifying wave of water to crumble before it could bury the entire army of undead.

Still, though it was a pity she couldn’t wipe out the undead army in a single move, this one little experiment had finally given her a large-scale magic spell of her own. A spell she decided to name the circular wave spell.

Even if the mana cost of said spell was a little terrifying...
