Chapter 157: 2.37 Eerth (2)

"This is getting annoying," Celeste muttered as her face scrunched. "I should have found someone by now. I’ve covered almost the entire planet."

She walked slowly through the crowd of people, trying to focus through all of the noise.

"Athena, I love you but there are days when this gift is too much." Celeste whispered.

Through all the chaos and noise, she finally heard "Kory" in someone’s thoughts. She quickly turned invisible and followed a human with glasses and dark hair walking with an orange and white cat on his head.

’Why can’t I sense his magical ability?’ Celeste thought as she followed him.

After about five minutes of walking, Celeste failed to realize she’d walked away from everyone else in sight, and suddenly the cat leapt on her head.

"Got ya! Why are you following us, goddess?!" the cat demanded telepathically.

"Woah! Why are you so hostile toward a goddess? You’re a companion and a human with magical abilities on a planet that has no ability users. Why wouldn’t I be interested in you?"

"Calm down Kory." Shawn said nonchalantly. "You don’t always have to literally jump to conclusions, ya know?"

Kory sat on Celeste’s head and licked his paw. He jumped back over to Shawn before saying, "Well, she was definitely following us. How can you be so oblivious sometimes?"

"Me?! I was the one who told you I think someone’s following us." Shawn said jokingly.

"Uh... Hello? I’m Celeste... it’s nice to meet both of you." Celeste said shyly.

"Oh! Hi! I’m Shawn and this is my super protective companion Kory. Sorry if he scared you. What’s a goddess doing on Eerth anyway?" Shawn asked cheerfully.

’I guess he’s super nice? Humans have always confused me the most.’ Celeste thought.

"I’m actually here because someone told me that you and your companion could use abilities and they wanted to meet you. They originally lived on this planet but they moved to Exteria." Celeste said politely.

"Exteria? Never heard of it! What’s so great about that place that someone from Eerth would move there? Eerth is awesome!" Shawn bragged.

"Probably because he’s not cool like us and can’t use abilities," Kory said while rolling his eyes and laying back down on Shawn’s head. "Wake me up if you need me."

"Did he really just fall asleep that easily?" Celeste asked in amazement.

"Yup, sure did! He’s funny. Anyway, why do they want to meet me? Do they need my help or my powers or something?" Shawn asked kindly.

"It’s actually... complicated. On Exteria, there is a large group of people who formed a party and they can all understand companions." Celeste tried to explain.

"Basically, the leader of the party can link with me and all of us can talk to one another. Koda included. Oh! Koda is Connor’s companion."

"This sounds like a trick or a scam. Why would you just randomly follow me to have me meet up with this random non magic using humans?" Shawn said as he turned the other way.

"Not everyone we brought to Eerth with us is human!" Celeste blurted out and quickly covered her mouth."

"Yeah, ok," Kory said with a big yawn. "I bet you have all sorts of really cool creatures like Nexus does just sitting in this Connor guy’s house waiting to sell us on some great planet with vampires, daywalkers, and all sorts of other things.

"Vampires... yes. Daywalkers? No." Celeste said nervously.

"You really have a vampire with you?" Shawn asked excitedly. "Is it a cursed one or a noble one? Because if it’s a cursed one... I swear I’ll kill it!"

"Noble! Definitely noble. It’s from the Original Ashwood vampires on Exteria, not the other cursed ones."

Shawn paused for a moment and asked for a moment alone with Kory.

"Sure, I won’t listen, on Athena’s honor." Celeste said as she disengaged from their link.

******

"Well Kory, what do you think? Do you think she’s actually a goddess?"

"Seeing as how she just turned invisible again, I’d say yes. How else could someone turn invisible and hear our link?"

"Well, do you want to go meet them and hear them out or do you want to keep traveling and doing our own thing? They’re lucky they found us. We were just heading out."

Kory looked around and thought about it for a few minutes.

"I guess we can hear them out. I just hope they don’t have a bunch of idiots with them. I can’t stand idiots."

Shawn laughed. "I know. But you know what they say, if you run into a goddess on Eerth, it’s considered good luck!"

"Only you say that Shawn," Kory said while licking his paw.

"I forgot you never got to meet my parents. They always said it. Anyway, let’s head over and hear them out." Shawn said with a laugh.

"Goddess lady..." Kory said.

"Helllllllllllllllllllllooooooooooooooooooo," Shawn yelled.

"I can tell she’s still here? Why can’t she hear us?" Kory asked.

"Go jump on her head. That will get her attention!"

Kory leaped onto Celeste’s invisible head, causing her to jump.

"Ahhhh!" she screamed.

"Ahhhh!" Kory and Shawn screamed back.

"What in the world is that man and his cat doing?" a random person noticed the commotion.

"No idea hunny, let’s just stay away from the crazies today," the other said as they walked away.

"You scared me!" Celeste stated the obvious.

"Well you weren’t listening to us." Shawn laughed. "How else were we supposed to get your attention?"

"Good point. Sorry, when I swear on Athena’s honor I won’t listen, I don’t listen!" Celeste exclaimed.

"Well, take us to whomever you want us to meet please!" Shawn said enthusiastically. "Kory you ready?"

Kory jumped back to Shawn’s head and Celeste grabbed their hand, teleporting them outside of Connor’s house.

"Nice house. Is this where the other human lives?" Shawn asked kindly.

"Yes, but I must warn you, there’s a demon and a succubus in there with them. They’re also married, super young, and super friendly. They won’t be able to understand Kory yet. It’s a long story." Celeste admitted.

"Hey! I thought you said this group of people could all understand companions." Shawn said, disappointment brimming from his voice.

"They can! I promise. It’s just, our party leader, his wife and child won’t be back for another two weeks so we’re all off visiting separate places, doing our own thing per se." Celeste said proudly. "They’re also gods and goddesses."

"You mean there are four gods and goddesses in your group?!" Shawn exclaimed. "That’s amazing! How did that happen?"

"Well, Sora, our party leader, was born half-god and half-Uthra, he married Brie, who passed Athena’s trial of the gods, and once they were both gods, they had a child." Celeste became animated, joyful and ecstatic when talking about the Lockhearts.

"Ok no one can lie that well. She’s clearly telling the truth. Sora must be the key to them all being able to understand companions. Let’s go meet them." Kory purred.

"Alright, lead the way!" Shawn exclaimed.

"I swear, they’ve been mentioning our names a lot more recently," Sora told Brie as they watched Xander open a portal to another realm.

"Nice job buddy!" Sora said while clapping.

"Great job sweetheart!" Brie whistled.

Athena smiled as Xander closed the portal and ran toward his parents.

’It’s only a matter of time before that child opens the secret realm,’ Athena thought joyfully.

"I’m glad Tej finally approves of us seeking our enemy’s location. Xander and Hope’s bond grows stronger each day!"
