Chapter 524: Chapter 524: Borrowing a Knife to Kill

The three women at the card table watched Caleb Summers groveling on the floor, kowtowing and begging for mercy. Their expressions were filled with derision.

Before Zara Walsh could speak, Autumn Sawyer, who was sitting beside her, suddenly chimed in. "Is this for real? Does a daughter who would screw over her own father actually exist in this world? You two aren’t just putting on an act to fool us, are you?"

Hearing Autumn Sawyer’s words, Zara Walsh’s expression turned cold. Her piercing gaze locked onto Caleb Summers as she said icily, "If you dare lie to me..."

Before Zara Walsh could finish, Caleb Summers frantically waved his hands. "I wouldn’t dare, Miss Walsh, I wouldn’t dare! How could I possibly lie to you? Everything I’ve said is the absolute truth!"

"That damn girl, Nina Summers, is an ungrateful wretch! Not only does she refuse to acknowledge me as her father, but she also injured her own brother. I disowned her long ago! I never thought she’d have the audacity to pull a fast one on you, Miss Walsh!"

Caleb Summers’s only thought now was to sever all ties with Nina Summers. ’If I had known Nina would cause this much trouble, I should have been ruthless back when Mindy Walsh died and let Nina go with her mother!’

Autumn Sawyer sneered. "Your daughter isn’t just bold," she said faintly. "She actually dared to con Miss Walsh out of her ring!"

"You probably don’t even know, do you? That ring was a Pink Diamond worth hundreds of millions. You could sell off your entire family, and it still wouldn’t be enough to pay for it!"

Hearing those four words—"worth hundreds of millions"—the muscles in Caleb Summers’s face twitched violently, and he was instantly drenched in a cold sweat.

’That damn girl, Nina Summers... How could she dare?!’

’That wretched girl!’

Terrified that Zara Walsh would hold him accountable, Caleb Summers immediately kowtowed loudly, his voice trembling with fear. "Miss Walsh, please rest assured, I may be her biological father, but that’s where the connection ends!"

"From this day forward, I will no longer acknowledge her as my daughter! I will absolutely not shelter her. Once you catch her, you can beat her or kill her as you see fit. I won’t hold you responsible!"

"If killing her isn’t enough to vent your anger, then sell her to a bar to be an escort! Let her sell her body to make money for you, and let those johns teach her a good lesson! If the police find out, I, as her next of kin, will find a way to help you cover it up. I’ll just say she’s naturally depraved and did it willingly!"

Caleb Summers’s words were utterly merciless. Even Autumn Sawyer, listening from the side, was secretly aghast. It was as if Nina Summers wasn’t his own daughter, but the person who had murdered his father.

However, upon hearing Caleb Summers’s tirade, Zara Walsh couldn’t help but frown. ’He makes it sound so simple. Does he think I *don’t* want to grab Nina Summers?’

’Nina Summers conned me out of a Pink Diamond worth hundreds of millions!’

’I want to catch her and cut her into a thousand pieces!’

The problem was, Nina Summers wasn’t giving her any opportunity to do so.

For some time now, Zara Walsh had her bodyguards staked out near the Summers Villa, closely monitoring the Summers family’s every move. The plan was to snatch Nina Summers the moment she stepped outside.

But to her surprise, Nina Summers never left the house, giving the bodyguards no opportunity to make their move.

The Summers Villa was covered inside and out with security cameras, and the surrounding walls were topped with layers of electric fencing. Sneaking in undetected to kidnap Nina Summers was practically impossible.

Just as Zara Walsh was preparing to throw caution to the wind and have her men storm the Summers’ home, she received another piece of unbelievable news—

Melody Summers’s mother, Winnie Summers, had, by some stroke of dumb luck, gotten a position as a department director in the Reconstruction Division!

After learning this, no matter how furious Zara Walsh was, she no longer dared to have her bodyguards force their way into the Summers’ home.

Winnie Summers’s position was a sensitive one. If something happened to her family at a time like this, the authorities would undoubtedly launch a full investigation. Zara Walsh had only just been released on bail. If she stirred up more trouble, she feared even the Walsh Family wouldn’t be able to save her... and she had no desire to go back to prison.

Unable to find a breakthrough with Nina Summers, Zara Walsh had desperately begged Brandon Walsh to make life difficult for Caleb Summers. She figured that since Caleb was Nina’s father, she could force Nina to submit by making his life a living hell.

But it wasn’t until Caleb Summers showed up at her door today that Zara Walsh finally understood: the father and daughter had become bitter enemies long ago.

’No wonder... No wonder Nina remained so calm even after Caleb lost his job. She showed no signs of submission whatsoever.’

’In fact, if what Caleb said was true, Nina would probably clap her hands in glee to hear that he’d lost his job!’

Realizing this, how could Zara Walsh not understand what had happened?

’She had fallen for that little bitch Nina Summers’s plot to kill with a borrowed knife!’

Once she’d figured this out, Zara Walsh was so furious she could feel her teeth grinding.

She glared at Caleb Summers and said coldly, "Fine. If the situation is really as you’ve described... I can consider giving you a chance to live."

Hearing this, Caleb Summers looked as if he’d been granted amnesty. He bowed and kowtowed twice more with a loud THUD, THUD, saying gratefully, "Thank you, Miss Walsh! Thank you, Miss Walsh..."

"But I have one condition," Zara Walsh said, cutting him off. She lifted her foot and pressed it onto Caleb Summers’s left shoulder, leaning down to speak in a low voice. "Find a way to get that Pink Diamond Ring back for me. If you do, I’ll consider letting you live."

’No matter what, getting the ring back is the top priority. If it’s really gone...’ The thought alone made Zara Walsh’s heart ache at the loss.

Caleb Summers’s expression froze. He looked up, gauging Zara Walsh’s expression, and stammered, "Well... Miss Walsh, it’s not that I’m unwilling. I’m just afraid... I’m afraid that little brat won’t listen to me..."

After all that had happened, Caleb Summers had no confidence he could persuade Nina Summers. He understood now that she was no longer the sweet, doting daughter he remembered. Her recent actions seemed calculated to drive their entire family to ruin!

So, Caleb Summers gave Zara Walsh a sycophantic smile and suggested, "Miss Walsh, why don’t you just deal with her yourself? She’s been afraid of pain ever since she was a little girl. If you capture her and torture her, I guarantee she’ll give up the ring!"

Hearing his words, Zara Walsh frowned again in displeasure. ’If things were really as easy as Caleb says, why would I have wasted so much time on him?’

She had spent the past few days racking her brain for a solution, but the conclusion was always the same: no matter what she tried to do to the Summers Family at The Metropolis Residences, there was a high probability she’d end up implicated herself.

The Walsh Family’s influence was not what it used to be, so Zara Walsh didn’t dare act recklessly. She never wanted to see the inside of a prison cell again.

Zara Walsh pressed down harder with the foot on Caleb Summers’s shoulder, forcing him flat onto the floor.

As she ground her heel into his shoulder, she snarled, "Cut the crap! I’m telling you to get the ring back. You can’t even handle a simple task like that?!"

Caleb Summers felt as if his shoulder blade was about to snap. He let out a wail. "Agh! ... I-I can! I can do it! Miss, don’t worry, I’ll make that little bitch give you back the ring!"

Zara Walsh sneered and removed her foot from his shoulder.

As Caleb Summers struggled back to his feet, she lifted her leg again and kicked him squarely in the face.

The pointed toe of her high heel visibly deformed the flesh of his cheek. Caleb Summers sucked in a sharp breath of pain and collapsed, his head ringing.

From above him, he heard Zara Walsh’s chilling voice. "I want to see my Pink Diamond Ring by tomorrow night. If I don’t... you can get ready to collect the corpses of your wife and son."
