"A black scorpion? What kind of black scorpion could drag away our young miss?" the old man said, looking at Flora Bloom and her two companions. "I suggest the three of you stop arguing and just come with us quietly. Our young miss is kind. Maybe she’ll even let you go once she wakes up."

Flora Bloom found the superpower users refuting her amusing. ’They’ve probably never seen a black scorpion that large, so they simply don’t believe me.’

’If the people of the Argent base are completely unaware that such large evolved creatures exist, then these giant lifeforms are indeed a major threat to the safe zone.’

Flora Bloom and her companions exchanged a glance and chose not to resist. ’It’s better to enter the safe zone with these people than to go through the official inspection and spend a day in the quarantine zone anyway.’

’Considering the old man’s Superpower Level, he must hold a high position in the base. This could save them a lot of trouble.’

And so, the old man and his group of superpower users escorted the trio and the unconscious little girl, walking unhurriedly toward the base’s main gate.

However, Flora Bloom had underestimated the base’s external security checks. As she and her companions followed the group to the entrance of the Argent Safe Zone, they were stopped by heavily armed guards.

"Steward Thorne, hold it right there."

Flora Bloom was shocked. ’This gate guard is a Middle-level Superpower User. Not only that, the guard next to him, though only Level 3, is a Dual Ability User. He has a Level 3 Earth Element superpower, but his second ability is so weak it’s not even Level 1 yet.’

’It’s very likely the guard himself doesn’t even know his second ability has awakened.’

Sure enough, the man trailed behind the Middle-level Superpower User and whispered timidly in his ear, "That’s Mrs. Thorne’s cousin. Is this really a good idea?"

Lin Tian’s brow furrowed. "The stability we have in the Argent base was hard-won. Are you trying to undermine its security, Steward Thorne?"

An energy approaching that of a High-level Superpower User suddenly erupted from Regan Thorne. The explosive Fire Element Energy instantly made the air around them sizzle.

Yet even amidst the explosive Fire Element Energy, Lin Tian held his ground, a shroud of purple flames enveloping him and protecting him from the blast.

"Don’t think you can look down on everyone just because your Adler family is powerful! The Adler family doesn’t have Lex Adler anymore. Let’s see how long you can stay smug!"

Lin Tian paid him no mind. Instead, his purple flames surged. Though they couldn’t break through the outer blast of fire, neither could the explosive flames penetrate his violet shield.

"If word gets out that the Thorne family is trying to undermine the base’s security, it won’t do your family’s standing here any good. Are you sure you want to openly oppose us?"

Regan Thorne’s aged face contorted into an ugly scowl. A crowd was gathering at the gate, and as one of the five great families of the base, the Thorne family was extremely concerned with its reputation. He was only a steward; he couldn’t let the situation escalate.

Just then, the junior guard beside Lin Tian, Gavin Todd, approached Regan Thorne. "Elder Thorne, we really can’t break the base’s rules. How about this? We can let you and the other members of the Thorne family enter directly. After all, we know who you are, so we can consider it a courtesy to your family. But these three... we can’t let them in. You know what happened with the Wallace family. If something goes wrong, people in our position can’t bear that responsibility."

Regan Thorne’s expression shifted multiple times. One of the superpower users at his side tugged his sleeve. "Steward Thorne, the Young Miss has been out for a long time. If we don’t head back soon, the Master will start to worry."

"Steward Thorne, these three are the villains who harmed our young miss. The Thorne family is taking this matter very seriously. The Master will send someone to retrieve them in twenty-four hours."

Regan Thorne retracted his flames. He knew that even if he attacked again, he wouldn’t be able to seriously injure this Lin Tian. A Mutated Fire Element superpower naturally countered others of the same element. Even though his own Superpower Level was higher than Lin Tian’s, he couldn’t inflict significant damage, merely hinder his movements at best.

Although Lin Tian possessed a Mutated Fire Element superpower, confronting a Fire Element user a full level higher than himself consumed a great deal of his spiritual power. His face was a little pale as he said flatly, "We are only responsible for quarantining new arrivals to prevent infected individuals from infiltrating the base. Once their quarantine period is over, they are no longer our concern."
