Chapter 336: Chapter 319: Would You Believe It If I Said We Saved Your Young Lady?
"Ah!"
The girl summoned every ounce of her strength for the most bloodcurdling scream of her life. She thrashed and struggled, but she couldn’t escape the jaws of the monster dragging her underground.
Before her companions could even react, the girl had vanished without a trace. When they finally did, the three of them shrieked in terror and scrambled toward the base’s main gate.
Whatever was moving underground buckled the concrete road, churning up chunks of stone as it tunneled a path straight toward Flora Bloom and the other two.
It seemed to have set its sights on the three humans who weren’t fleeing.
The girl’s screams didn’t stop. Even while being dragged underground at high speed by the unknown monster, her cries remained piercingly loud, which made it obvious she wasn’t an ordinary person.
Flora Bloom focused all her attention on the disturbance underground. Just as the massive object reached their feet, a huge black pincer suddenly shot out from below, sending stone fragments flying.
The pincer’s body was covered in coarse black bristles, and its tip gleamed with an oily black sheen, looking incredibly sharp. It was obviously poisonous.
The pincer’s target was clearly Flora Bloom, but she had no intention of letting a poisonous weapon harm her. The axe in her hand was a product of her father’s Gold Ability, reinforced once again after he broke through to the Middle Level.
With a loud CRACK, a single light swing from Flora Bloom’s axe unexpectedly shattered the pincer.
"SKREEEEE!"
The thing underground let out a piercing shriek, and a moment later, the girl’s body was thrown out from below. She was tossed high into the air, her trajectory aimed right where Flora Bloom was standing.
Flora Bloom was already five months pregnant. Although her belly was only the size of a grown man’s head, the pregnancy had nonetheless robbed her of her former agility.
She wanted to roll aside to dodge, but the movement would put too much pressure on her baby. Even though she knew her own body could take it, she didn’t want Polly to experience the slightest bit of external discomfort.
"Cynthia Grant, hurry up and catch her!"

Flora Bloom quickly moved to the side, urging Cynthia Grant to catch the girl with her vines.
"There, I caught her! Jeez, whose little monster is this? Let go of me!" Cynthia Grant had used her vines to catch the girl and set her down in a clear space, but when she tried to pull them back, she found the girl clinging to them for dear life. Her face was ashen, as if she were trapped in a nightmare, and she wouldn’t loosen her grip.
"Help, save me, save me!" the girl pleaded, her voice soft and sweet. A moment later, her voice grew weaker and weaker until she fell silent, her small body curled up on the ground.
Cynthia Grant retracted her vines. Just as she was helping the girl up to leave, the ground began to shake again.
Another pincer shot out, identical to the last one. That was the left, this was the right.
"Looks like we can’t leave until we get rid of this menace, huh?" Flora Bloom sighed. As she spoke, Vert’s eager form suddenly appeared in the sky above.
It saw the churning earth below, catching glimpses of a crustacean-like carapace, and let out an excited CHITTERING sound.
"Master, it’s a scorpion! So nutritious! So nutritious!"
Feeling Vert’s excitement through their mental link, Flora Bloom prompted with exasperation, "Just deal with it quickly. We still need to get into the safe zone today!"
Receiving its orders, Vert’s wings emitted a "BZZT BZZT BZZT" sound as it dove. A pair of enormous, jade-white scythes deployed in less than a second, and in one motion, clamped onto the big-pincered culprit and dragged it out from underground.
A black scorpion the size of a taxi was dragged out from the ground, clamped in its scythes.
The black scorpion, now missing one of its large pincers, let out a pained SQUEAL. Its entire body thrashed and coiled in a desperate struggle, but Vert’s scythes were like steel, unmoving. No matter how much it struggled, it was useless.
Vert flew down, carrying the black scorpion, and landed on the ground some distance from Flora Bloom. It raked its two jade-white scythes across the scorpion’s back in quick succession. The sound of the scythes scraping against the carapace was a series of ear-splitting screeches, like metal grinding on metal.
The loud GRINDING sounds were enough to give Flora Bloom and her companions goosebumps, and to top it off, the scorpion’s back was completely unharmed aside from a few white scratch marks.
Vert seemed to realize it couldn’t harm the black scorpion this way. So, clamping the scorpion’s sides with its jade-white scythes, it flipped the creature over, exposing its belly.
