Chapter 332: Chapter 317: The Matter of Mooching a Meal (Part 2)

Ethan Monroe took the opportunity to pour himself another glass. With repeated toasts, the men quickly polished off three bottles of white liquor.

Drinking was a common affair for the members of Flora Bloom’s team. Besides white liquor, they would also occasionally have some beer, yellow wine, or red wine. But Jed Holden was clearly not a regular drinker. After chugging glass after glass, he took one wobbly step, missed his footing, and stumbled, falling onto the concrete floor behind him.

Superpower users had strong bodies, but that didn’t help them sober up. He swayed back and forth, trying to get up, and it took him a good while to find his balance.

Flora Bloom had left the table early with the other women. This was a common occurrence since they moved into Villa No. 3. The dinner table would inevitably turn into a drinking table, and the women would eventually leave to rest, leaving the men to vent the stress they’d accumulated since the apocalypse began.

After eating and drinking his fill, Jed Holden was escorted back to Sepherdine’s villa by Ethan Monroe and Mark Sterling. Only then did he realize that he had been so focused on the food and alcohol that he had completely forgotten about his mission.

When Sepherdine smelled the reek of alcohol on Jed Holden and saw the soup stains splattered on his chest, he asked, "So, did you finish your report?"

As Jed Holden hesitated, unsure how to answer, Sepherdine leaned in and sniffed him. "You even had a few drinks? I knew I was right about them. That Flora Bloom and her group not only have plenty of food, but they even have luxuries like alcohol."

As a subordinate, Jed Holden knew his behavior was inappropriate, but the food at Flora Bloom’s place was so plentiful and delicious that he couldn’t help himself. Back on his own team, meals were rationed to two a day, and he never got to eat his fill.

"Captain, uh, I forgot to report to Old Lynch."

Sepherdine stared for a moment. "Look at this pathetic state you’re in. Don’t you dare forget tomorrow!"

Jed Holden lowered his head in shame. "Yes, sir! I will complete the mission tomorrow!"

「The next day.」

Jed Holden went to Villa No. 3 early, intending to report to Sherman Lynch and discuss matters like the base’s personnel planning, but he was told that Sherman had gone to the training grounds to lead a session for the base members.

Just as he was about to leave, Flora Bloom strode out of the villa, moving as fast as the wind. Seeing him standing in her way, she asked, "You’re here?"

Even though Flora Bloom was clearly much younger than him, he felt a deep sense of reverence for her. Jed Holden timidly lowered his head, not quite daring to meet her eyes.

"Y-yes, I’m... I’m here." Initially, he hadn’t had a good impression of Flora Bloom and had even resented Sepherdine for sending him. But now, for some reason, he felt a faint flicker of anticipation.

’It’s noon. I wonder if they’re having lunch?’

Sure enough, just then, Jade came chasing out of the villa holding a large bowl of chicken soup in one hand and a steamer of meat buns in the other. "Flora! Drink this chicken soup before you go!"

Flora Bloom stopped in her tracks and shot Jed Holden a harsh glare. Before Jed could even figure out what was happening, Jade was already beside them.

"Here, take it! You’re getting further along, how can you eat so little!" Jade said earnestly, staring at Flora Bloom as she handed her the chicken soup. "Hold it and drink!"

"Mom, I’m really full!" ’Good heavens, my appetite has gotten bigger with the pregnancy, but I just ate half a chicken by myself for lunch!’ The chickens she raised in her space grew incredibly fast, influenced by the Space Spiritual Energy. A chick hatched from an egg could be fully grown in just a week. Moreover, they were one to two times larger than an average domestic chicken.

On top of that half-chicken, Flora Bloom had also drunk plenty of chicken soup and eaten lots of vegetables for vitamins. The moment she saw her mother, Jade, turn to go back to the kitchen and bring out something else to feed her, she had decided to make a run for it.

But she never expected that in the short time it took to greet Jed Holden, her mother would catch her again.

"Young Holden, you’re here too. Are you looking for our Flora?"

While Jed Holden was awkwardly trying to figure out how to respond, Flora Bloom took the chicken soup with one hand and grabbed him with the other. "He’s here to see me about something," she said. "Mom, just give me the buns and soup. I’ll eat and talk slowly, how does that sound?"

Jade gave her a look that said, ’That’s more like it,’ then smiled at Jed Holden before finally leaving.

Flora Bloom breathed a sigh of relief and immediately pushed the chicken soup and meat buns into Jed Holden’s hands.

"They’re yours now! Eat them quickly, my mom’s going to come back and check!"

Just then, Yuemao, The Crown Prince, and Limao suddenly appeared out of thin air. "Sister-in-law."

"Sister-in-law."

"Boss Flora!"

That last form of address earned a fierce glare from Flora Bloom. "Yuemao! Watch your mouth! You can call me by my name, or you can call me Boss or Captain. But can you please not put my last name in front of Boss? It sounds horrible!"
