Chapter 360: Her important day
Imperial University.
Today was marked by the huge celebration of graduation day. Smiling faces and crimson robes covered the campus of the Imperial University.
On this special occasion, the venue was graced with the presence of Chairman Caine.
As two of the toppers of the entire batch, Ella and Ruby were completely surrounded by the crowd. Not just as toppers, but also because of their reputations.
Ella had long established herself, infamously and famously.
And in recent weeks, ’The Rising Rose’ has been climbing the drama charts. After the initial explosion of the photoshoot, came the off-stage gossip revolving around Hill and Mo Entertainment.
But all of it was overshadowed when the trailers dropped and revealed Ruby’s phenomenal presence that surpassed the veteran actors’. Nobody could have expected such a performance from the usually stone-faced girl.
In Ella’s previous life, the drama ’The Rising Rose’ was backed by Hill Entertainment and the female lead was none other than Esther.
With an exorbitant amount of money spent in its promotions, it became extremely popular and Esther became a household name.
But in this life, there was no fake PR initiated from the team. The drama has been rising to fame organically. And as it did so, Ruby, who already carried the title of Imperial Goddess gained more popularity in the university.
And with Ruby and Ella back together as best friends, people just couldn’t help but talk.
There was another person who was gaining equal attention as well.
"Girls, girls, calm down, I barely graduated with passing marks," Kade said everything he could to put off the girls who surrounded him.
But in front of the Imperial God’s charms, they were far from discouraged by his words.
The graduation ceremony concluded smoothly.
"I always knew you’d overcome the obstacles thrown your way," Professor Grimwood said as he approached Ella.
Ella made a deep bow towards the man, "Thanks for always believing in me."
She was deeply grateful to this person who had backed her up without any selfish motives of his own. Without his support, things would have been harder for Ella in the university.
"Oh, I just remembered... The Chairman wants to meet you in his office," Professor Grimwood said.
"Ah? Why?"
"Why..." Professor Grimwood glanced at Old Master Caine, ’Father has been so interested in this girl ever since he knew she is Old Master King’s potential granddaughter-in-law... That’s what he says... But I think this interest has deepened lately because... Ella Yu looks like...’
"There must be some misunderstanding regarding the chairman wanting to see me," Ella said, seeing the blank look on the man’s face. She was about to say something when she spotted someone in the distance, "Professor, I need to leave now. I will see you soon."
By the time Professor Grimwood returned to his senses, Ella had already disappeared in the crowd.
His head throbbed, thinking of how his father was going to grill him for failing at this ’mission’.
"Eh, Ruby is the celebrity here but you are behaving more like one! Where are you running off to?" Kade blocked Ella’s path.
Ruby rolled her eyes at Kade and turned to Ella. Seeing the look on Ella’s face, she frowned, "Is everything alright?"
Kade also sensed the solemnity of the situation.
After that day in hospital when Adrian had ordered for Ella to return to the Eve Mansion, Kade and Ruby were clueless as to how things turned out between the both of them.
Unbeknownst to them, after Ella met Esther and spotted Adrian and Lana together, she ended up going to stay in a hotel.
She did not want to believe Esther’s words, knowing that the woman could very easily be deceiving her. But she had no reason to think otherwise. Why else would she be so easily discarded by the Yu Family, if not for the reason that... she wasn’t their child?
And then followed the other thought that crept in her mind like poisonous vines. Esther said it was just a replacement in Adrian’s life!
Just the way she replaced Esther’s real sister, she was replacing Adrian’s real lover as well.
Ella did not leave the city. She stayed in a hotel room without any disguise for two days, knowing Adrian would be getting to her any moment soon.
But within these two days, Adrian did not come.
Ella refused to believe he couldn’t find her. She had tried to run away from him a thousand times and he has found her every time without fail.
And it was impossible that Bertha did not inform him about her disappearance from the Eve Mansion.
The only reason he did not get to her this time was simple:
He was not looking for her.
"Ella... Ella!"
Ruby’s voice snapped Ella out of her daze.
She hurriedly nodded at Kade and Ruby, "I will see you soon..."
And before they could respond, Ella had disappeared from their side in a whir.
Kade turned around and his brows rose when he spotted somebody in the crowd, "Isn’t that Secretary Ji?"
Ruby followed his gaze, "Doesn’t that mean your brother is also here?"
Kade shrugged before nodding, "No wonder she did not spare us a few seconds."
On the other side, once Ella crossed the crowd, she stood in front of Ji Yan.
Ji Yan had a polite smile on his face as he bowed to her, "Congratulations on your great achievement."
"Thanks..." Ella smiled and looked behind the man, "Is he..."
"The Second Master has sent me to pick you up," As Ji Yan spoke, he watched Ella’s smile drop with every word.
And inwardly, he sighed.
On such a huge occasion, it was natural for Ella to expect his Second Master’s presence.
But the poor Secretary Ji couldn’t tell what his Second Master was thinking.
Not only was he letting Ella stay at a hotel for the past two days, but he did not even come to attend her graduation ceremony.
Instead, Ji Yan was sent here.
