Chapter 84: She Ruined Her Plans Again
When Han Ziyan looked at the single piece of meat in her bowl, she wanted to throw a tantrum. She felt really unhappy.
It was such a big plate of meat, and in the past, no one would have dared to touch it under her mother’s ferocious gaze. She would be the one who would eat all the meat, and they would only eat her leftovers, which wasn’t much, but now she had fallen into such dire straits that she was eating their leftovers!
Han Ziyan just could not accept this sudden change.
It seemed like Han Yichen was really angry with her; he actually stayed true to his word and didn’t even stop Han Ruochen from sharing the meat so unjustly. It seemed like he was really determined to stop caring about her, which was not good. If this went on, then she would end up with nothing in her hands. Han Ziyan knew that she still needed to rely on the Han family.
Her father was still struggling, and given the current situation, there was a very good chance that her father might not rise to a good position in the next five or six years. She didn’t want to suffer with him, so she could only stay in the Han family. But she was already past twenty, and she was just a few years younger than Han Ruochen; she needed to get married as soon as possible. Because if she stayed at home for five or six years, then she would be called an old maid!
She raised her head and looked at Han Ruochen, who was eating her meal calmly, and clenched the chopsticks in her hands; it seemed like she had to come up with a way to deal with this woman first.
Later that night, when everyone was asleep, Han Ziyan was wide awake in her room. She was scribbling one sentence again and again on the paper—Han Ruochen, go and die!
Han Ziyan only felt better after she had finished filling a large page of the notebook.
And because she was ranting late into the night, she woke up very late the next morning. And just like always, she went to look for her mother to get her daily pocket money, but when she saw the six yuan in her hands, she was really upset.
"Mom, shouldn’t it be ten yuan?" Han Ziyan had lived like a young miss ever since she was little. When she grew up, she befriended a few young ladies in the county and would often go to small tea houses with them. If not, she would be heading to the shopping place. Han Ziyan knew since she was a young age that she had no aptitude for studying, so she never bothered with it.
Anyway, her adoptive father had a lot of money.
But now the pocket money had been greatly reduced!
Meng Yunhan smiled wryly. "Have you forgotten, Ziyan? Your dad said that he will be taking care of his children; since I cannot take care of them, he will be the one picking up my slack. Just this morning, he took the rest of the savings to pay for Jianyou’s fees. You should be glad that I somehow managed to save these six yuan. I have no job, so this is the best I can do for you."
When she was young, she relied on her good looks. Many of the educated youths would bring her chicken and fish, and she never had to work. If she were not good-looking, then Han Yichen would have never gone against his mother to marry her. But now, after so many years, she had to find a job. Meng Yunhan was not happy.
And when she thought about how those ten thousand yuan were not of any use, she became even more upset.
Master Yun took that money from her and told her that he would succeed in the end; it was another failure.
How could she not be upset?
When Han Ziyan saw that her mother was simmering with anger, she immediately backed down. In the end, it was her father who was good for nothing; if he had used those ten thousand yuan and turned things around, then she wouldn’t be suffering like this. She quickly smiled. "Mom, don’t be angry. It’s not that; I was just casually asking. Anyway, I wanted to do something for you as well, which is why I asked you for money. Since Sister Chen could earn her big pot of gold after digging around, I was thinking of doing the same, but I don’t have any equipment."
"You really want to collect seafood like Han Ruochen?" Meng Yunhan asked with a frown on her face.
"Yes. But don’t worry mom, I will start saving and buy myself a shovel... I don’t think that only sister can be the lucky one in our family."
Though she said that Han Ziyan was really reluctant. She was really upset with Han Ruochen; that woman really had no sisterly love for her. She could have easily handed that job to her, and then she could have married into Yang Jianming’s family.
Even if Han Ruochen had to marry that idiot and lose her reputation, compared to how she was living in the Han family without a proper status and listening to the mockery of the people around, this was nothing!
"As long as you have the heart," Meng Yunhan said to her daughter. She then turned solemn and added, "it will be better if you start saving a little; we have no money, and in case someone gets sick in the future, we will be the ones suffering, alright? Given how hard-hearted that father and daughter are acting now, they might even watch us die."
"I know mom." Han Ziyan forced a smile and then returned to her room, where she started to throw a tantrum again. "HAN RUOCHEN!"
She screamed into her pillow angrily.
She was indeed saving money these days, but that was because Han Ziyan had finally hooked up with a rich heiress. The woman was related to an army leader, and her cousin was a platoon leader. If she continued flattering the woman, Han Ziyan was sure that she could suck up to her and meet her cousin; if that man was good-looking, then she was determined to dump Yang Jianming, who was now useless to her.
But now that she had no money in her hands, how was she supposed to buy that dress that she wanted to gift to that young heiress?
No, she cannot give up yet.
Han Ruochen still had two thousand yuan!
