Chapter 311: Divorce Her

"Lowered themselves?" Han Yong sneered coldly. He languidly raised his head and looked at his mother, who stiffened upon seeing the indifferent look in his eyes. This was the first time Han Yong had looked at her like this, and Meng Yunhan could not help but stiffen with fright when she saw how Han Yong was staring at her as if he wanted to eat her alive. "Mom, tell me how they have lowered themselves?"

Meng Yunhan opened her mouth and then closed it again. She wanted to scold her son for questioning her in front of everyone, but before she could say a word, Han Yong stood up with a whoosh. His expression was calm, but his eyes were burning with rage. He looked at his mother with resentment and snapped, "How have they lowered themselves? Ruochen is right. All these years, I have worked like an ox and a cow and yet these people take away every penny that I earn. Even my wife —who should have been closest to me – acts like a bandit. She takes away my savings and spends it as she likes, and I am left to suffer."

"All these years I must have earned at least fifty thousand, but other than the house that I own, I don’t even have enough to eat! What is wrong with me wanting to do what I want? Anyway, even if I work myself to the bone, I will only make a wedding dress for others."

Han Yong felt quite relieved after saying those words. In the past, his mother had forced him to quit his job as a chef even when she knew that he liked it. He had unwillingly accepted it because he knew that fighting with his mother was going to result in nothing. His mother pushed him into doing business, saying that he was suited better for it. Only he knew how hard it was for him to deal with the real estate business.

The boss that his mother found him to follow was a fraudster. He was riddled with debt and used Han Yong as a shield to escape after the two of them joined hands in business. If not for the fact that Han Yong had his brothers by his side, he was worried that he would have been swallowed whole by those debt collectors. Only if he knew that the failed business he took over belonged to Yun Xinye! 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞

His mother had knowingly pushed him into the fire pit, thinking that as long as Han Yong bore the brunt in place of Yun Xinye, even if he went to prison, she would treat him well. What she did not expect was that Han Yong would turn things around and actually manage to save the business. Though she was glad the business was saved, she resented Han Yong for not disclosing his skills earlier and causing her beloved to make a losing bet. It could be said that she actually schemed against him and made him marry Xu Yuanshu because she was angry at him for not being of any help to Yun Xinye.

"You! How can you talk to me like this? Who am I doing this for?" Meng Yunhan felt flustered when she saw that she had been questioned by Han Yong. She knew that she had a thief in her heart, but she could not accept being scolded like this. "You and I both know that becoming a chef is nothing but a pipe dream. Even if I was harsh on you, you are living a better life than you would have if you hadn’t listened to me."

"But am I happy?" Han Yong questioned angrily. "What kind of better life am I living? Look at me and answer. What kind of better life am I living? I can’t even get a pot of hot water to wash my feet before sleeping. My friends have married virtuous wives. When they return home, they are welcomed with warm dishes and a pot of hot water to clean their feet; as for me? My wife is nowhere to be found. Not only do I have to cook for myself, but also for her and the child. And if I don’t, then she fights with me without letting me have a moment of peace. I would rather sleep on the streets than have such a life!"

Meng Yunhan swallowed her words back. She wanted to scold her son, but she did not know where to begin. Even if she wanted to scold him, she had to have a reason. What kind of wife did not cook for her husband? What kind of wife did not take care of her husband? She turned to look at her niece, who lowered her head and sucked in a breath. After seeing this, what else did she need to understand? It was indeed just as Han Yong said.

"Brother Yong, I know that what Sister Yuanshu did was wrong, but you cannot just abandon your business for such a small reason, can you? In the end, she and her son depend on you," Han Ziyan remarked with a frown. It was not that she was particularly close with her cousin, but her father told her to keep an eye on Han Yong. He told her that as long as Han Yong continued to work hard, there were always chances to make Han Yong sign away his shares through Meng Yunhan. If he suddenly stopped working, then what would happen to the shares? Who would benefit from a business that had gone bankrupt? It would be useless for them to claim it later on.

With that thought in her mind, she continued, "She is your wife no matter what."

"Hah, I think she is his ancestor," sneered Han Ruochen. "She doesn’t work all day long and spends the money without a guilty conscience. Brother, I think it is better to divorce her and marry someone else. With our family’s condition, what kind of woman can you not marry?"
