Chapter 238: Unexpected Auction
Han Ruochen was not scared of offending the people at the docks. Anyway, they already treated her as their enemy, so even if she were to treat them with kindness, the men at the docks won’t appreciate her actions at all. So what was the point of acting nice with them? She might as well do her own thing. Anyway, she did not want to get along with a bunch of men who wanted to steal her boat!
Second Uncle Han sighed helplessly upon hearing Han Ruochen’s stubborn words. He knew that his niece was determined not to listen and did not waste his time either. He simply looked at the countless boxes that had been piled up inside the motorboat and said in a low voice, "Ruochen, do we need to move all the boxes?" There were too many boxes piled up in the motorboat; there had to be more than thirty. How was he going to pick all those boxes and put them in the truck?
Han Ruochen also felt a bit guilty when she saw her second uncle’s gaze. She was indeed asking him to do a lot of work for her. So she could only sheepishly smile at her uncle and say, "How about asking a few of your trusted workers to load these boxes on the truck?" Since there were too many boxes, she could naturally not ask her second uncle to load them all.
Her suggestion was quickly accepted by Second Uncle Han, who quickly hired a few men whom he trusted and had the truck loaded in a few minutes. Once the truck was loaded and everything was placed neatly at the back of the truck, Second Uncle Han left the docks with Han Ruochen and Tong Zhaodi. Once the three of them were gone, the men at the docks started to laugh at Han Ruochen’s foolishness. In their eyes, Han Ruochen was just a little girl who was acting all smug because she got a new toy in her hands. Sooner or later, she would be filled with regret for acting out of line.
Brother Wang sneered and said in a low voice, "That woman is going to be ruined sooner or later. Look at this, she is actually going around causing trouble for not only herself but also her uncle. I have no idea what the Han family is thinking by allowing her to run amok. Shouldn’t they try to make her understand that this is not a woman’s job?"
Brother Wang looked down on the Han family in his heart. Even if Han Ruochen had somehow managed to get her hands on money, they should have arranged it for her dowry. That way, no man would look down on Han Ruochen. But who would have thought that these idiots would let her run amok? They even allowed her to buy a motorboat and go to the sea; they were really letting her break all sorts of old traditions just because no one was saying anything to her!
It was truly too much!
However, someone among the crowd had a different idea. He looked at the truck that was filled with boxes and frowned harder. He turned to look at Brother Wang and questioned, "Brother Wang, are you sure that Han Ruochen did not get her hands on anything good? If she did not catch anything good, how come she is taking so many boxes with her?"
If Han Ruochen did not get a good haul, then what was she doing with those thirty or so boxes? Was she taking empty boxes to the county? But that would be too much of a waste, and Second Uncle Han did not seem like the guy who would do something so foolish!
So what were the two of them doing?
As soon as the man finished speaking, all the men who were gloating at Han Ruochen’s misfortune turned quiet. That’s right; if Han Ruochen did not catch anything good, then how come she was bringing so many boxes to the county, and for what reason? No one in their right state of their mind would take thirty boxes to the county for no reason. Even if Han Ruochen had a lot of money, she would be a fool to do such a thing. After all, who would squander their money like that?
Even Brother Wang could not help but think twice; indeed, why would Han Ruochen go to the county if she did not catch anything good? And that too with so many boxes? Even the last time, she took at least five to six boxes with her and came back with empty ones. If she was really as unlucky as she said she was, then what was she doing with the boxes? Suddenly, Brother Wang had a feeling that there was something that he did not know. There must be something going on that he did not know about.
After a short while, his eyes flickered, and his face turned red with anger. "Damn, that woman played us all!" Only now did he realise that there was something very wrong with Han Ruochen and her course of action. She said that she was not catching enough prey in the sea, but what if it was the opposite? What if she caught something so good that she wanted to avoid their attention and deliberately lied?
Brother Wang might be a thug, but he was a smart thug. He soon connected the dots and was so angry that he wanted to lose his temper at someone. It seemed like Han Ruochen did not catch anything; it was just that her catch was so good that she did not want to tell the truth to anyone! The more he thought about it, the angrier he became, but there was nothing he could do.
After all, the woman had already left the docks.
"What’s the matter, Brother Wang? Why are you angry at a fool?" one of the underlings could not help but ask. He thought that Brother Wang was still furious at Han Ruochen for not knowing what was good for her and wanted to curry favour with him. But he did not expect that as soon as he finished speaking, Brother Wang raised his hand and slapped him on the face.
