Chapter 172: Another Bountiful Hunt
When the villagers saw her pull another earth dragon, their eyes couldn’t help but widen. This... since when did Han Ruochen become this skilled? Looking at the thrashing earth dragon in her hands, they couldn’t help but be envious. It would have been good if they had the same ability as her.
Aunt Gossip looked down at her buckets that held crabs and shrimps and sighed. "It’s good that we have Ruochen, or else Yichen would be ruined by that woman!" Old Madam Han wiped her eyes with a handkerchief and sobbed silently. "Without her, I am afraid that the family would have been eaten to the bones by that woman."
"Mom, don’t say that." Second Aunt Han also knew that her mother was worried about her eldest son and couldn’t help but sigh. Her brother-in-law was good at everything, but he was not a good judge of character. Why would he marry someone like Meng Yunhan? That woman was nothing but a troublemaker.
Old Madam Han blew her nose as she said, "You don’t know. That woman has always been eyeing Yichen’s money. I am not even surprised that she used all the savings without telling Yichen; if not for the fact that Yichen had money, that woman would have never even taken another glance at him!"
This was the first time Second Aunt Han heard such a thing, and even though she knew that it was the truth, this was her first time hearing her mother say that Meng Yunhan married her brother-in-law for money.
"Usually, I do not comment on such things. If that woman had sat still and not caused so much trouble for my son, I would have forgotten how she married him, but it seems like a leopard cannot change its spots! I should have gone to the city and fought with my in-laws back then instead of letting that woman marry my son." Fighting with the Meng family seemed like a much better option than letting that woman marry her son after all these years of suffering and bullying.
As Han Yichen’s mother, she should be living with her eldest son, but because of Meng Yunhan and her antics, she left her son’s house.
She looked at Han Ruochen, who had dug out another earth dragon, and sighed in relief. The only good thing about this entire ordeal was that Han Ruochen had become more and more sensible; she was no longer her gloomy self and did not listen to her mother as if her mother were issuing an imperial edict.
On the beach, when the villagers saw that Han Ruochen had dug more than five earth dragons, they were speechless. They knew that the woman was really lucky, but this was simply defying the heavens. Since when did it become so easy to catch Earth Dragons one after another? Some of the villagers couldn’t help but say that Han Ruochen was being too greedy, as she did not help the villagers by taking them to the sea. While some simply chased after Han Ruochen, hoping that they would be able to catch something.
But catching earth dragons was too difficult. They needed to be absolutely certain that the earth dragon was hiding under the soil or else they would end up losing it.
When Han Ruochen straightened up everyone turned to look at her and was waiting for her to say something but when she didn’t, Aunt Gossip nudged her and questioned, "Ruochen, are there more earth dragons in here?"
"No." Even if there were, Han Ruochen was not foolish enough to tell it to others. She had indeed seen a long tail earlier, but she did not want to collect it for now; after all, five earth dragons were already enough to cause quite a stir.
Han Ruochen popped her back and then turned her attention to the crabs and snails. She collected them swiftly and placed them all in her buckets. These things did not cost much, and Han Ruochen knew that there was no point in selling them; she would just bring them back to eat. Anyway, she had been craving spicy snails for quite some time!
Tong Zhaodi was also lucky and caught some blue crabs. These did not cost much, but she could at least earn an extra hundred yuan if she were to sell them.
The two of them were tired and sweaty, but neither of them dared to linger at the shore or go back home to shower. After the incident last time, Han Ruochen knew that if she brought these earth dragons back home, then her mother might go crazy and simply snatch them. So she went to look for her uncle and headed straight to the Emerald Pavilion. When she arrived, Uncle Bo did not even think twice before taking her goods and nodding.

He looked at the five earth dragons that were more than sixteen jin and did not know what to say to Han Ruochen. He had never seen someone as skilled as her. Every time she came to him, she would bring him quite a big surprise.
"It’s all thanks to my grandfather and his teachings," said Han Ruochen modestly. She did not want to claim credit, as she knew that if not for the sea scanning system, she would have never found these things.
