Chapter 109: Not a Fertility Goddess
Han Ruochen heaved a sigh of relief when she heard Han Ziyan’s snoring. It seemed like the girl had fallen asleep. She opened her eyes and then walked out of the room without disturbing Han Ziyan. Instead of wasting her time with Meng Yunhan, she turned on her feet and headed out of the house through the back door. She first went to her grandmother’s house, where she picked up the fishing gear and then started walking toward the shore.
She had just reached Aunt Ye’s when she felt someone reach out and touch her thigh. Even though Han Ruochen was wearing pants, she felt two skinny hands reaching out and touching her, which made her slightly flinch. She looked down and saw Ye Huanyu, who was touching her legs and doing something weird. She carefully looked at the little girl and realised that she was praying to the sea.
"You—"
Aunt Ye was also shocked. She came hurrying outside when she saw her granddaughter touching Han Ruochen inappropriately. "What are you doing? You little girl, where do you think you are touching?"
"Grandma, you were the one who said that Sister Chen was lucky and I should hug her thighs when I can?"
The little thing reached out and then touched Han Ruochen once again. She didn’t want to let go of this luck that she had finally got her hands on.
Aunt Ye blushed furiously. She did say those words, but she said those words to her son and wanted him to create a good relationship with Han Ruochen. Who would have thought that her granddaughter would eavesdrop on her conversation with her son and would even come looking for Han Ruochen to hold her thighs literally!
Aunt Ye said to Han Ruochen, "Xiao Chen, don’t listen to her nonsense. She is just a child; how could I have such an idea?"
Han Ruochen was speechless. She was sure that the woman herself didn’t believe those words that she had said to her, but what could she say to Aunt Ye? She couldn’t even cause a fuss; after all, could she say that she was upset with the actions of a little kid?
"It’s alright, Aunt Ye. I was also naughty when I was a child."
Aunt Ye could only smile awkwardly at Han Ruochen. The little girl beside her was not happy with the results and wanted to try once again to increase her chances of catching seafood today.
But she was pulled back again by her grandmother, who shot her a fierce glare.
Han Ruochen hurried out of their home, as she was worried that the little girl would reach out and hug her thighs again.
However, she had not even taken more than ten steps when she bumped into Aunt Gossip. The woman looked at her with a flattering smile on her lips. Just as she was about to hurry past, Aunt Gossip walked toward her and stopped her from going any further. Confused, she raised her head and looked at the woman. Her look only made Aunt Gossip even more embarrassed. She then heard her say, "Ruochen, if you don’t mind, can you give Auntie some of your old clothes?"
Looking at Aunt Gossip, who was looking at her with a flattering smile that made her wrinkled face even more scrunched up, Han Ruochen was even more confused. She had a lot of questions in her mind. If someone saw her, they might be able to see the question marks hovering over her head. "Why do you need my old clothes, Auntie?" Han Ruochen asked while trying to be as polite as possible.
Why did she not hear about these weird habits of Aunt Gossip?
"My daughter-in-law’s belly has not made a movement till now. I am thinking of taking your old clothes and putting them under her pillow to bring some good luck."
Han Ruochen was simply stunned. She was not some fertility goddess.
And if Aunt Gossip placed her old clothes under her daughter-in-law’s pillow and something happened, she would be the one to get blamed every time. If she wasn’t wrong, then Aunt Gossip’s son was an alcoholic. Thus, it was very difficult for him to impregnate his wife.
Han Ruochen thought about it a little and said, "Aunt, you know my mother. If you take my clothes and she finds out, she wouldn’t think twice before making it an issue and telling everyone in the village that your son and I are having an affair. I am not worried about it because I am used to it, but your son...well, he would not like it, would he?"
Han Ruochen knew that if she refused, then Aunt Gossip would certainly go around the village calling her arrogant, but if she were to refuse by quoting and showing concern for her precious son, Aunt Gossip would certainly be concerned. Sure enough, as soon as she heard that her son would be dragged down by that rotten woman, her face turned pale.
"You are right, Ruochen. I did not even think about it, your mother; she is such a rotten person. If she finds out that I have taken your clothes, she will definitely cause trouble for my son." Aunt Gossip frowned hard. Now what was she supposed to do? Without Han Ruochen’s luck, how would her daughter-in-law get pregnant?
Han Ruochen knew what the woman was thinking about and shook her head. She wanted to tell the woman not to be so impatient. With how severe her son’s drinking habits were, it was going to take a long time before his wife would get pregnant.
Fortunately, she was able to clear the obstacle, or else the trouble would have fallen on her. Who knows when Aunt Gossip’s daughter-in-law would be able to get pregnant? She didn’t want to carry such a big hat on her head.
She rushed to the beach, worried that she would be troubled by someone else.
However, when she arrived at the mudflat, she realised that there were more people here than yesterday!
