Chapter 56: Trial of Conquest 2

"I have set these trials according to the difficulty level required. The time has been set. Begin."

The voice responded beyond and beneath the clouds, encompassing the entire area. Just as it was gone, a count down timer began, spawning out of nowhere.

The instructions were clear to Jacob and Xenia, all that was left was to not run out of time.

Jacob’s POV:

Jacob narrowed his gaze at the monsters, twisting his sword in his grip, glossing over the best way to approach the situation.

’This seems easy enough, but I still have to make it interesting.’ He thought to himself.

The monsters roared in annoyance, each guttural bellow shook the pillars that stood on the four corners of the ring.

"Manifest!" Jacob yelled.

Two shadowy creatures appeared on either side of him, emanating dark aura that made the beasts lords hesitate for a moment.

One had glowing burn marks on its body and looked more like a human than a monster, the other one was clearly a demon, its horns protruding from its skulls.

"At your service, Master." The shadows echoed in unison as they crouched on the ground, their knees touching the floor.

"Jirin!" Jacob called out.

"Yes, master."

"Do what you do best."

The shadow flashed a knowing smile, instantly increasing in size and growing two extra arms. It pulled two crimson coated swords, made entirely of blood, out of its palms. Altogether, the shadow was wielding four blades, each one as sharp as the other.

"Savant!" Jacob called for his other shadow soldier.

"Yes, master."

"I don’t need to tell you what to do, do I?" The boy asked.

"No, master, your wish is my command." The shadow responded, then started to glow a deep crimson, its hands burst entirely into flames. Tiny sparks could be seen in flickers around its fists.

Jacob looked at each of his soldiers, geared up for battle, he then tilted his head to the side and smiled mischievously.

The boy stabbed his sword into the earth and held out his hand, performing the ’come at me’ sign. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂

The Beast Lords were already extremely vexed at this point. Even though they hesitated to attack because they were intelligent creatures and their opponent seemed very powerful, their pride wouldn’t let them accept that a mere mortal would defeat them in a four on one battle.

The first beasts to lunge into attack were the Frost Lion and the Primordial Ape. Jirin and Savant responded in kind.

Jirin vanished from Jacob’s side and before long, there were resounding metal clanging sounds all over the arena.

Savant was matching the energy of the Ape effortlessly, even without weapons, his power was incredible, each blow sent the Ape stumbling backwards a few steps, the Ape fought back to the best of its abilities, but it was no match for him.

Jacob had been too invested in Jirin and Savant’s battles, he almost didn’t notice the void serpent dashing towards him.

It’s colossal jaws almost snapped on Jacob’s head when, in a flash, he held out a single arm, pointed towards the serpent.

The serpents eyes flickered; left, right, up, down, around the socket. As much as it tried to snap its jaws and sink it’s deadly fangs into this human’s skull, it was unable to.

The serpent was frozen in place, the beast struggled over and over, but it was futile. In an instant, Jacob had created a small pocket of space around the creature that kept it confined, no matter how much it tried to move, its efforts were rendered useless.

’Hmm, I’ve always wanted to try this affinity.’ He mused, after a second of pondering how to kill the creature.

He slowly squeezed his hands into a fist, tightening the pressure on it, he watched as the serpent writhed in pain as it was being crushed by the endless space around it.

Jacob twisted his hand, the beast immediately began to weaken, it’s bright obsidian scales slowly turning grey. With every second that passed, the serpent was losing its life force. The serpent began to shrivel up in an extremely grotesque way.

The creature wailed as it was completely helpless.

The Earth dragon watched as its fellow Beast lord remained utterly helpless against their enemy. Its annoyance had reached the peak, it immediately opened its mouth, spewing out a sea of burning hot flames at Jacob.

Jacob remained unmoved as the fire engulfed him, the serpent glanced down from its position; seeing that the fire had connected with the target, its eyes turned black and within that space, a void dimension formed. The dying serpent managed to slither into that dimension while Jacob’s vision was blocked by dragon fire.

The dragon flames lasted for moment, only stopping after it felt that Jacob had been significantly burned.

The creature’s eyes widened in shock as it watched Jacob step out of the burning blaze, completely unscathed by the flames.

"Turns out immune to fire, bozo." He said calmly as he dusted himself off.

"And I also have a void affinity." He spoke again, plucking his sword up from the earth. The second he touched it, the blade was covered in a dark-like energy, from the tip to the base.

He took a breath and then raised the blade in the air.

A single slash tore through the air as he brought the sword down, creating a dark rift in space, in the void. A loud screech could be heard as the severed head of the Void Serpent fell out of this rift, rolling towards Jacob.

He placed his foot on the head and pointed the tip of his sword at the Earth Dragon.

"You’re next." He warned with an evil smile tugging at his lips.

By this time, Jirin and Jaran had sufficiently taken care of their opponents, leaving them battered and unconscious. Jirin dealt the final blow to both Beast Lords with his blades, watching them dissipate into nothingness.

They were already raring to go at the Earth Dragon, the monster roared, as it found itself surrounded.

"No!" Jacob commanded, forcing them to stop in their tracks, he stepped forward slowly, blade whining in his grasp.

"This one’s mine!" He grinned.
