Chapter 100: Draws
Author’s Note: We have reached a milestone of 100 Chapters!! Honestly this is a great milestone for me as this is my first ever novel published, and I wouldn’t have gotten this far without every single one of you reading this. I am so happy to be embarking on this journey with you all and I hope you stay and continue to follow me on this journey. It’s been a rigorous one because when I first started, my phone was faulty and it caused me to miss a lot of uploads, but I’m glad I’m able to create more consistently for you all now.
P.S: I also want to use this avenue to beg you, my dear readers for your gifts and golden tickets hehe. Even though I remain humble, I’m also still a greedy and shameless author. Thank you so much for sticking with me up till this point. Definitely more to come in the future. Please gift me.

The Pit was buzzing with life, Jacob thought it looked like a real gladiator pit, like the Roman coliseum.
Screams and whistles were coming from one end, chants were coming from the other, not even Xenia could believe how lively this arena was.
During the gladiator fights, the warriors were expected to sign up before the event began.
There would be twenty warriors in total, each one of them would battle each other at random, and then whoever won would advance to the next round, until there were only two contestants left.
Each fight would last twenty five minutes and the fighters were allowed to pick any weapon of their choice, killing was specially prohibited as this was a sport and not a massacre.
A contestant can only win when they knock their opponent’s weapon out of their hands and pin them in an uncomfortable position.
These were the rules of The Pit. Whoever didn’t abide by them would be immediately disqualified—or if they killed someone—executed.
The contestants were finally verified and the list of all of them were sent directly to the Primarch on a piece of paper, the man carefully studied the list.
The names were as thus:
1. Yannick Wutherhorn.
2. Jonathan Wutherhorn.
3. Randolph Wutherhorn.
5. Eron Wutherhorn.
6. Zion Wutherhorn.
7. Alfred Wutherhorn.
8. Christopher Wutherhorn.
9. Stryx Nyvanz.
10. Zeldris.
11. Ximena Dulan.
12. Kang.
13. Peter Wolfe.
14. Cedric Ravenshade.
15. Raphael Wymont.
16. Emery Kingborn.
17. Vale Drake.
18. Count Leonhart.
19. Sebastian Colleen.
20. Light Wutherhorn.
The man read the list and found no problems, until he read the final name in the list, a name that left a bad taste in his mouth, he couldn’t imagine how someone who had failed to awaken twice could even participate in an event like this.
It was enough to even set eyes on the boy, now he had to watch him humiliate himself in a tournament that consisted of real warriors. A blight on his family name, was all he could see Light as in that moment.
Light was the last to sign up for the tournament, he received a single kiss on the cheek from Anissa and a wish for good luck before she disappeared through the tunnels.
She didn’t really want him to fight, but Wutherhorn men, they were hard to convince when they set their minds on something.
There was an announcer who read out all the names to the public one after the other. They all stepped out, receiving a standing ovation from the crowd until Light’s name was called.
Murmurs began to ring through the arena.
"Isn’t that the prodigal son?"
"Didn’t he fail to awaken?"
"What is he doing here?"
"I heard he came back with someone from another house."
The murmurs continued and soon enough, boos began to ring through the walls, almost everyone disapproved of his presence but he didn’t care much. Once they saw him fight, their throats would tie themselves up in a knot.
After the contestants were called out and they stood in a line, the crowd appraised them and they were all sent back into the tunnels to await the draws.
Each of them was supposedly a seasoned warrior, three woman and seventeen men. Even women weren’t exempt from partaking in such a grueling practice.
The tournament was open to all who thought they were worthy.
The women were Ximena, Emery and Stryx, Light studied them closely, Ximena and Emery looked very much like warriors, they both had brown hair and a defined physique, they both wore armor, if one wasn’t paying attention, the two could be mistaken for sisters.
Stryx on the other hand, looked nothing g like a fighter, she wore a long dress and had short white hair, her eyes were deep crimson. And when she smiled, Light could swear that he saw a pair of fangs.
The men were well known in the estate, his brothers particularly.
Zeldris and Kang were brothers, huge in size, Zeldris was the elder one but Kang was bigger in size.
Light had been aware of them since he was little, tbe brothers had never liked themselves that much, always fighting, always getting into trouble.
Light was a little glad that they finally found something that they were both good at.
There was a table covered in weapons, whatever was needed, was provided.
There were swords, clubs, guns, spears, whatever was weapon they needed was available.
Light already had need for a new sword, so when he walked up to the table, he carefully browsed through the selection of swords they had.
That was when he saw it, a shiny blade with a handle coated in black and white leather. He decided that it fit him perfectly, so he chose it without hesitation.
He watched as every one picked their preferred choice. Yannick picked a sword, so did many others. Zeldris picked a club, and Kang picked an axe.
Cedric picked a desert eagle, a gun that Jacob thought was eerie to have in this world.
Light also shared the sentiment of not understanding why Cedric picked a gun, but he decided to watch and find out. The only person that neglected to pick a weapon—standing out again—was Stryx, Light could not ascertain what exactly the girl’s power was, but she gave him the creeps for sure. Everytime he looked at her, she would only smile, baring her fangs again and again.
After they had selected their weapons it was time for the draws, each of them would be randomly paired with another, but it would only be revealed after the draws were complete.
The draws would be done in an one fashioned way, with pieces of paper containing the names of the contestants placed in a bowl and selected one at a time in ten places. The selection would be done twice.
This selection process would take ten minutes to complete, everything done by the Primarch himself.
After the wait, the first battle was confirmed, and would begin in five minutes, even though it was a brutish sport, they tried to be technical about it, because a sport was a sport, no matter how physical or grueling it would be.
When the decision was finally made, the first fight was set.
Jonathan Wutherhorn vs Ximena Dulan.
