Chapter 484: Chapter 484: She Hates So Much

As soon as this was said, whispers immediately started below.

"Why are we re-electing class leaders?"

"Did some class leader not do well?"

The whispers reached Evelyn Vaughn’s ears, making her feel inexplicably guilty.

On the first evening self-study session, she was supposed to attend the meeting with Ashley Shaw, but she fled out of fear of being scolded for being late.

Could it be that Ashley told the homeroom teacher about this?

Her hand under the desk involuntarily tightened, and her resentment towards Ashley resurfaced.

Initially, she heeded Jocelyn Hayes’ warning and told herself not to bother with them, but she was still infuriated by Ashley this time. 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺

Why couldn’t things be said openly, instead of resorting to such disgusting tattling behaviors?

No wonder Ashley called Wilson Wallace after class this morning; turns out it was for this matter.

Her heart was burning with anger, but her face remained cold and stern.

Wilson Wallace said, "Let’s settle this. This time, we’ll reelect all class leaders, and confirm the roles that were not yet fulfilled. First, let’s reelect the class president. Anyone want to volunteer? Or feel free to recommend someone suitable for the role."

At these words, many instinctively glanced at Ashley Shaw.

As the class president re-election was about to take place, Ashley’s face surprisingly showed neither disappointment nor anxiety.

Her expression couldn’t have been more serene.

Evelyn Vaughn sat right next to Ashley Shaw today, allowing her to see Ashley’s expression clearly.

Seeing her calm demeanor, Evelyn sneered inwardly: It’s all pretend!

"Those who want to be class president, you can raise your hand now." Wilson’s voice echoed.

Evelyn Vaughn wanted to raise her hand inside.

During military training, Ashley gained a lot of attention and favor because she was the class president.

But she feared that Ashley might have tattled to Wilson, so she restrained herself from raising her hand.

A girl from her dormitory raised her hand and said, "Teacher, I think Evelyn is very suitable to be class president."

"Really?" Wilson smiled and said, "Classmate Vaughn, what do you think about this yourself?"

After chatting with Ashley Shaw, Wilson understood that it’s not just about electing a class president, but also whether classmates are willing.

Otherwise, appointing someone unwilling might lead them to quit someday, necessitating another election.

Evelyn Vaughn saw Wilson looking at her with a smile, with no hint of dissatisfaction in his eyes, feeling slightly relieved.

— It seems Ashley didn’t speak ill of her.

So she awkwardly said, "I’m used to serving everyone during these times, whether I can be class president or not, I’m fine with it."

"Alright."

Wilson nodded slightly, wrote her name on the blackboard, and then asked if anyone else wanted to be class president.

Leo Bell was recommended at this time too.

Later, two more students raised their hands, so there were four names on the blackboard in total — except Ashley Shaw.

Evelyn Vaughn felt strange, but since Wilson allowed hand-raising voting, allowing them to raise hands multiple times, her focus quickly shifted away from Ashley.

The voting results came out soon, and Evelyn won over Leo Bell by one vote.

Thus Leo became the vice president, and Evelyn Vaughn became the class president.

After electing other class leaders, the class was lively, yet Evelyn Vaughn felt even stranger about Ashley Shaw not being any class leader.

Was it because she felt she wasn’t doing a good job and lacked the face for it, or was there another reason?

After evening self-study ended, Evelyn finally got the answer.

She forgot her portable charger on the desk, and upon returning to the classroom, heard Ashley Shaw and Jocelyn Hayes talking.

Jocelyn said, "Not being class president is so great; you no longer have to waste time on all that nonsense and can study well."

"Indeed." Ashley’s tone was indescribably light-hearted: "Had I known stepping down was this easy, I would’ve told Ms. Wright during military training."

"If you had said it during training, Ms. Wright might not have agreed, because changing class presidents is too much hassle... But no need to think about that. Isn’t it perfect now?"

"Yes, it truly feels like a weight lifted."

"Just study well; Professor Quill asked you to visit him when you’re free, right? You can do that now."

"Yes, I’ll see him tomorrow. I’ve tidied everything, later I’ll hand these documents to Evelyn, and I won’t have to worry about those things anymore."

As they talked, they walked towards the classroom door, and Evelyn quickly hid in the neighboring classroom.

She exhaled deeply only when the footsteps faded completely.

While sighing in relief, her anger followed closely.

Turns out Ashley told the homeroom teacher not about her fleeing, but that she didn’t want to be class president!

So the class presidency she joyfully obtained was actually the role Ashley didn’t want?

She felt ecstatic inside, even planned to treat her dorm mates to supper.

But now, she felt like an invisible slap was harshly thrown at her face.

When she was elected, Ashley must have been mocking her from below, thinking she was foolish, right?

Jerk! Ashley Shaw, that jerk!

She couldn’t understand why every time she thought she encountered a good thing, it always ended as a fiasco.

Just like with the military training uniform, she purposely reported a bigger size for Ashley, yet Ashley’s training uniform ended up fitting better than anyone’s, making her figure the slenderest in class.

Because of this, several other classmates from different classes confessed to Ashley during training.

But what she truly wanted was to see Ashley humiliated!

She was so resentful!

...

Ashley Shaw didn’t know what Evelyn was thinking, nor did she know Evelyn overheard their conversation. Returning to the dorm, Ashley handed all the class president duties entirely over to Evelyn’s dorm.

After doing this, she felt completely relieved.

So the following day, in the afternoon when there were no classes, Ashley went to see Professor Quill.

Professor Quill was reading in his school-appointed suite living room. He saw her come in, said nothing, and went into the bedroom.

Ashley didn’t dare say much, she stood waiting in the living room, anxiously wondering if Professor Quill didn’t like her.

If Professor Quill didn’t like her, should she... not bother him any longer?

While pondering, Professor Quill came out of the bedroom with a bag in hand.

"Take this back, finish it within two days."

Ashley hurriedly received it, just about to ask what it was, but saw Professor Quill sitting back at the desk reading.

Ashley didn’t dare disturb him, just said, "Master, I’ll head off now," and seeing him wave goodbye with his back turned, then left with the items.
