Chapter 874: Chapter 874: Pursuit
Upon hearing Timothy Jennings’ worried words, Selena Kensington waved her hand.
"Brother Timothy, I know my physical condition well. I must go out and take a look myself. Besides... aren’t you aware of my abilities?"
Selena Kensington displayed a confident smile.
Timothy Jennings was stunned for a moment after hearing her words.
Only then did he let out a helpless sigh.
"Yes, you have indeed become very powerful now."
His cousin, Selena, was growing stronger by the day.
Sometimes, Timothy had to admit, God truly favored her.
It seemed as if all the love and care were given to her.
Whether in terms of appearance or talent.
Timothy Jennings no longer voiced any objections and instead told Selena which direction Grandma Jennings and Vincent Sinclair had gone.
After leaving the Rivers Family mansion, Selena began to head towards the back of the small fishing village, following Timothy’s directions.
The small fishing village was backed by a small mountain.
The mountain wasn’t very tall, but several villages were nestled beneath it.
Moreover, the mountain hadn’t been developed, mostly just visited by fishermen picking wild vegetables and herbs.
Fortunately, the small fishing village wasn’t large. After bypassing several intersections, Selena saw the entrance to that mountain.
Dense woods filled the inside, and even the paths were mere trails formed by frequent foot traffic of villagers.
Selena stepped inside.
Soon after entering, she spotted some bloodstains.
Seeing those bloodstains, Selena frowned slightly.
Vincent Sinclair and Grandma Jennings wouldn’t have caused these bloodstains if there had been a fight, so... these bloodstains were left by Cole Vaughn.
With that thought, Selena began following the trail of blood.
*
Vincent Sinclair and Grandma Jennings also followed the bloodstains left by Cole Vaughn to find him.
By his side, there were already two piled-up corpses.
Fresh blood was still dripping from one of his hands, and his whole aura was filled with intense killing intent and bloodlust.
At this moment, his expression also carried a hint of pathological madness, as if the mask he constantly wore was on the verge of breaking.
Seeing Cole in this state, Vincent Sinclair frowned slightly.
He had to remind him, "Cole, maintain your composure."
"..."
Upon hearing Vincent’s words, Cole stiffened as he looked up.
Soon after, a hint of clarity seemed to return to his eyes.
He pointed to a nearby valley and said, "They’re hiding in that small valley. It seems they’ve been staying here for several months. These ones were just out conducting a routine patrol when I caught them."
After speaking, he gave the corpse at his feet a disinterested kick.
Upon hearing Cole’s words, Grandma Jennings was startled, "A few months ago..."
Wasn’t that during the time she left?!
Grandma Jennings’ voice was heavy, "But what exactly did they use to cause Selie to suddenly vomit blood?!"
Cole said nothing, instead looking over to Vincent Sinclair.
Vincent let out a mocking chuckle, "I told you, didn’t I? They dabble in quite a few crafty and dishonest studies. Originally, these were meant to deal with me, but they don’t work on me anymore."
"But they affect Selie, perhaps because she has the other half of Estelle’s Heavenly Master Power within her."
As Vincent spoke, a shadow of gloom passed through his eyes.
He seemed provoked, exuding an inexplicable aura of oppression.
Grandma Jennings was taken aback.
The expression on her face darkened as she seemed to come to a decision.
Grandma Jennings said fiercely, "Go, we need to handle that camp, and we can’t let any of them escape!"
Where her family’s safety was concerned, Grandma Jennings’ usually gentle demeanor turned decisive and ruthless.
Vincent Sinclair and Cole Vaughn were also of the same mind. The three wasted no time and headed toward the valley.
*
Not long after Grandma Jennings and the others left, Selena followed the bloodstains to the place where they had stood.
When Selena saw the two corpses lying on the ground, she was stunned.
Because the way they had died was too horrifying.
They... had been alive when their stomachs were pierced, and they had died with wide-open eyes, in apparent disbelief.
Moreover, they seemed to have died not long ago, as the blood pooled on the ground hadn’t fully coagulated.
Even with Selena’s strong mind, the sight made her look away slightly uncomfortably.
Was this Cole’s method of handling things?
Much more ruthless than during his time at the Aethelgard sanatorium...
The bloodstains faded here, and Selena momentarily didn’t know where Cole and the others had gone.
So she began inquiring of Esther Jennings in her mind.
’Auntie Esther, can you sense them?’
Before Selena fell unconscious, it was Esther Jennings’ sudden reminder in her mind that allowed her to alert Grandma Jennings and the others before passing out.
Esther Jennings’ voice quickly echoed in her mind.
’Look ahead.’
Upon hearing Esther Jennings, Selena quickly raised her head to look ahead.
Yet there was nothing particularly remarkable ahead.
Except for the small valley.
The small valley was concealed by dense trees, making it difficult to see the situation below.
"Auntie Esther, do you mean Cole and the others went there?"
Selena asked.
Esther Jennings replied, ’Yes.’
If Cole and the others went there, then it’s likely that’s where their hideout is.
Selena took a deep breath, "I understand; I’ll head over now."
’No matter what happens, I will protect you, so don’t worry.’
Esther Jennings’ voice carried a comforting tone.
Selena smiled faintly, "No need, I can handle it myself."
Esther seemed to sense the concerns in Selena’s words. She paused for a moment before speaking, ’Borrowing your body won’t make me disappear.’
Selena’s eyes brightened, "Really?!"
’Yes... Having returned to the Rivers Family’s main house just now, some Origin Power was reclaimed, it’s sufficient.’
The Rivers Family’s main house housed the ancestors of the Rivers Family.
After passing, these Heavenly Masters would instinctively attach a strand of Origin Power to their Spiritual Tablets, blessing future generations.
So the moment Selena stepped into the Rivers Family mansion, Esther Jennings felt her Origin Power being instinctively drawn back into her being.
With Esther’s reassurance, Selena was relieved.
As long as Esther wouldn’t disappear, all was well.
Selena breathed a sigh of relief. "That’s good."
In a place Selena couldn’t see, Esther Jennings smiled slowly.
’I’ll have to temporarily borrow your body, sorry.’
Upon hearing Esther’s words, Selena shook her head slightly. "It’s okay."
After speaking, she paused briefly, "Auntie Esther, could you not return to my consciousness right away later?"
"Your husband... he’s just ahead."
