Chapter 2126: Chapter 2029: Stirring Up Trouble

As Gu Xu had guessed, their cargo ship sailed for a full five days at sea before finally docking.

Taking advantage of the ship unloading, the three quietly disembarked and successfully arrived on American soil, at the western Port Houston.

After disembarking, Huo Sining and her companions finally breathed a sigh of relief; it meant they had managed to escape from that godforsaken place in Mexico.

"Damn it, I swear I never want to go there again in my next life!"

Ouyang Jun, still haunted by memories, muttered his curse vehemently.

Huo Sining and Gu Xu exchanged a knowing glance, fully agreeing with him.

Yet Huo Sining wasn’t aware at this moment that her plan would soon be thwarted, as she’d quickly face the choice of returning to that demon land in Mexico.

Upon reaching Houston, the group settled into a hotel to rest briefly before booking their flight back home.

However, what caught Huo Sining and Ouyang Jun by surprise was receiving another call from Yu Fei not long after resting in the hotel.

Yu Fei sounded anxious on the other end; with Gu Xu and Huo Sining’s phones previously turned off, he couldn’t reach them and feared something might have happened. Now, with the call connected, as soon as Gu Xu answered, Yu Fei couldn’t help but ask:

"Captain, are you okay?"

Gu Xu was taken aback, then chuckled: "We’re fine. What could possibly happen to us?"

Hearing the relaxed tone in Gu Xu’s voice, Yu Fei finally eased a bit, yet quickly remembered something and rushed:

"Captain, there’s trouble! That file you sent me, I’ve decrypted it, do you know what’s in it?"

Gu Xu, sensing Yu Fei’s serious tone, realized the file must be quite extraordinary: "What’s the content?"

"Inside the folder are top-secret pieces of intelligence on Mexican cartels, including six new types of drugs they developed, their worldwide branches and networks, and drug hiding warehouses set up across continents. Not only that, there are dirty deals between Mexican cartel Tranleva and some high-profile figures from other countries. All documents are marked top-secret. This time, you really stirred up a hornet’s nest!"

Yu Fei stared at his screen, eyes widening as the names of internationally renowned people stood out, each more shocking than the last, making his palms sweat.

With such a trove of secrets, should these high-profile figures learn of it, the Mexican cartel leader would surely fly into a rage, likely chasing Huo Sining and Gu Xu to the ends of the earth.

After decrypting the files, Yu Fei immediately sent them back to Gu Xu’s email.

Gu Xu opened the folder and perused each document, finally grasping the scale of trouble Yu Fei described.

Not to mention the drug warehouses and new Mexican drugs, but those sordid deals involving high-profile figures, if exposed, would surely spark public outrage, consigning those figures to ruin and infamy. With the data in their hands, should the cartel reveal this information, they wouldn’t need the dealers to act; the figures themselves would leverage their connections to silence them.

Yet, thinking this over, Gu Xu assumed that Tranleva wouldn’t make such a foolish move.

Those figures dared to engage in such covert deals with him, assured of his guarantee that those scandals wouldn’t be exposed, allowing them peace of mind in cooperating.

Yet Tranleva, duplicitous, secretly retained evidence of the trades, clearly to safeguard himself should things unravel and threats arise.

Gu Xu reckoned these evidences were surely unwelcome by the figures, and Tranleva’s actions blatantly contravened their initial agreement.

If Tranleva were to alert these figures about the leaked evidence, they’d likely fly into a rage, hating Tranleva fervently.

Instead of killing with borrowed arrows, Tranleva might find himself engulfed in flames, as the wrath of these figures wouldn’t be easily endured despite his dominance in Mexico, unable to withstand so many high-profile figures striking back.

Thinking this through, Gu Xu grinned, brows raised, savoring the irony.

Having suffered so greatly in Mexico, nearly losing their lives, should they not return a grand gesture to Tranleva?

Gu Xu only contemplated the idea, without intended immediate execution. He didn’t plan to involve Huo Sining further, considering convening with Yu Fei and Song Hui after returning home for thorough planning.

Yet Huo Sining’s response was more direct; after reviewing the data, she immediately questioned:

"These files are indeed sensitive, no wonder those dealers pursued so relentlessly, even tormenting that Elisa with all sorts of instruments. I’m curious, what was Elisa’s hiring company aiming for?"

Gu Xu furrowed his brows, eyeing Huo Sining, sensing something amiss. The company employing Elisa likely wasn’t targeting the new drugs or dealer warehouses; was their ultimate goal the evidence of Tranleva’s clandestine dealings with these figures?

After just a moment’s thought, Gu Xu deemed it highly plausible; for most, drug and warehouse details are useless, yet those incriminating evidence becomes potent leverage, capable of controlling those figures with strategic use.

Considering this possibility, Gu Xu couldn’t help but worry.

Huo Sining was about to speak when suddenly her phone rang, sharp and urgent within the hotel room.

Displayed was an unfamiliar number from Mexico, startling Huo Sining, who instinctively glanced at Gu Xu. Hesitating a moment, she answered.

Upon connection, a woman’s deliberately hushed voice came through:

"Miss Huo..."
