Chapter 1243: Chapter 1243: Found in the Countryside

Now that she’s back, she naturally can’t just be a hands-off boss anymore. Besides, she had already taken a leave of absence from school last semester, and apart from essential classes, she would be spending most of her time on the company.

After all, for her, developing and expanding the company is the most important thing right now.

Jiang Xue pulled up documents from the computer and began to read them seriously. She read until it was past eleven at night, only stopping when her eyes grew tired.

She glanced at the time; it was already late. Jiang Xue turned off the computer, stood up, and then went to her room to sleep. Before sleeping, she entered a space to bring her son out.

But when she went in, she changed her mind and lay down beside her son instead. Quickly, Jiang Xue drifted into a dream.

At this time, Nangong Chen, in Xu City, was finding it hard to sleep. His subordinates had reported that Jiang Xue had not returned to the countryside at all.

This news reassured Nangong Chen but also made him a bit sulky. Since she wasn’t in the countryside, Nangong Jun and his people were bound to come up empty-handed again. But the fact that she left without telling him left Nangong Chen quite frustrated. After all, they were friends now, yet she disappeared without even a word.

No one knew where she had gone. Did she know Nangong Jun was coming and was hiding?

The more he thought about it, the harder it became for Nangong Chen to fall asleep. He once again dispatched his men to track down information about Jiang Xue. This time, he instructed them to first check the train and bus stations to see if they had gone on a long trip.

After assigning the task, Nangong Chen finally closed his eyes.

Early the next morning, while Nangong Chen was still sleeping, he received word that Nangong Jun had already headed to Jiang Xue’s hometown.

Upon hearing this news, Nangong Chen felt a little worried, so he immediately got up and followed behind Nangong Jun to Jiang Xue’s hometown.

As Nangong Chen was somewhat familiar with Jiang Xue’s hometown, although he set out later, he arrived at the village ahead of them.

Upon reaching the village, Nangong Chen first asked Jiang Xue’s nearby neighbors, gathering information about her family from them.

After gathering information, Nangong Chen was worried that Nangong Jun and his people would also try to gather these details. So, he gave some money to the neighbors near Jiang Xue’s house, asking them not to reveal where Jiang Xue’s family had gone to anyone else.

With money in hand, the neighbors were naturally willing. So when Nangong Jun and his people asked where Jiang Xue’s family had gone, the neighbors easily made up an excuse to brush them off.

Nangong Chen didn’t leave until he was sure that Nangong Jun’s people hadn’t found out anything about Jiang Xue. Only then did he walk away.

He knew that with Nangong Jun’s abilities, he would soon find out where Jiang Xue had gone. Delaying them for a day was a gain. For him, the later Nangong Jun found Jiang Xue, the better.

This way, he would have time to warn Jiang Xue and prepare against Nangong Jun and his people together with her.

Nangong Jun returned empty-handed once more, and his irritation was evident. Upon returning from the countryside, he broke quite a few things in the hotel.

Once he vented his frustrations, he called his subordinates in and told them to track Jiang Xue’s whereabouts. He just couldn’t believe that Jiang Xue could vanish without a trace.

As for Nangong Jun’s persistence in finding her, Jiang Xue was unaware. Of course, even if she knew, there wouldn’t be much she could do to stop it.
