Chapter 1237: Chapter 1237: I Don’t Need It

"Are you sure?" Jiang Xue expressed deep skepticism towards Nangong Chen’s words. No matter what Nangong Chen’s intentions were for this contract, she wouldn’t sign it.

Money is a good thing, and having lots of it is also good, but it must be earned through one’s own hard work.

"I can assure you." Nangong Chen looked at Jiang Xue seriously, almost ready to swear an oath. However, Jiang Xue still shook her head and said, "I don’t need it!"

"Jiang Xue, you—?"

Before Nangong Chen could finish, Jiang Xue interrupted him, saying, "I’ve already said it, I don’t want to repeat it a third time. Those things are in your hands, how you handle them is your business and has nothing to do with me."

After saying this, Jiang Xue looked at Nangong Chen and said, "If you came to see me today just to talk about this, then I don’t think we have anything to discuss."

Seeing Jiang Xue so determined, Nangong Chen could only sigh inwardly. He initially wanted to use this contract as a legitimate reason to see Jiang Xue in the future.

But seeing her attitude now, his plan was once again thwarted. Oh well, if she were easy to talk to, she wouldn’t be Jiang Xue, and he wouldn’t need to go to such lengths.

Thinking this, Nangong Chen suppressed the tumult within him and then looked at Jiang Xue again, saying, "I came to see you today, and besides this matter, there’s something else I need to tell you."

"What is it, go ahead!"

"Jiang Xue, I’ve received word that Nangong Jun and Nangong Yao have left Beijing and are likely headed this way. You should be cautious in the coming days. If you encounter them, it’s best not to confront them head-on."

"Alright, I got it!" Jiang Xue nodded, taking the information provided by Nangong Chen to heart.

In a few days, she’s heading to South City, and she doesn’t want any complications to arise during this short period. Once in South City, she plans to find some people to secretly protect her parents and others.

Nangong Chen noticed Jiang Xue’s calm expression and felt uncertain, not knowing if Jiang Xue was worried or thinking about something else.

However, this matter was somewhat related to him, so he suggested, "Jiang Xue, should I find some people for you?"

"No need!" Jiang Xue refused with a smile. Although she had already acknowledged her friendship with Nangong Chen, she didn’t want to rely on him for anything.

Even if something came up, the person she should turn to was Mu Qiancheng, not the Nangong Chen in front of her. Jiang Xue believed Mu Qiancheng could help her solve any problem without needing an outsider to intervene.

"Alright, I won’t push you. But if anything happens, remember to call me. Rest assured, I have no other intentions; just wanting to help you."

"I know!" Jiang Xue nodded. Seeing that Nangong Chen had nothing more to say, she stood up and said, "If there’s nothing else, I’ll be going now."

"Let me walk you back?" Nangong Chen suggested with a smile.

"No need, it’s not far from my home, I can get there by walking." Finishing her words, Jiang Xue left directly. Nangong Chen watched her leave, shaking his head. Then he laughed. Anyway, he gained something today; at least Jiang Xue had acknowledged their friendship.

As for other matters, he would take it slow. Over time, he believed that consistent, sincere efforts can achieve the impossible.

Ouyang Yi had been keeping an eye on Jiang Xue, and upon seeing her leave, promptly got up to settle the bill and followed her out.

He trailed behind Jiang Xue, noticing she hadn’t driven but was walking, and with a smile, he started his car, drove up to her, and said, "Jiang Xue, let me give you a ride."
