Chapter 1226: Chapter 1226: Going to the Rescue
In a short while, footsteps sounded outside the tent. Jiang Xue knew it was Mu Qiancheng returning, so she stood up to greet him.
"Xue’er, get ready and come with me," Mu Qiancheng said as soon as he saw Jiang Xue.
"Alright!" Jiang Xue nodded, then turned and strapped on her medical kit. Mu Qiancheng watched, a smile appearing on his face, and lightly pinched Jiang Xue’s nose with a chuckle, "Xue’er, turns out you were ready all along."
Jiang Xue smiled without saying a word, carrying her medical kit as she followed Mu Qiancheng out of the tent to assemble with the others. By the time they arrived, nearly everyone was already there, seemingly waiting just for them.
Seeing the two arrive, the leader immediately spoke up, "Everyone’s here, let’s move out."
With that said, everyone orderly headed towards the large truck parked nearby. Jiang Xue, carrying the medical kit, found it difficult to get on. Mu Qiancheng climbed up first, then took her medical kit and gave her a hand.
Gong Bei noticed Jiang Xue’s medical kit with some curiosity. He had seen medical kits before, all marked with a red cross, but Jiang Xue’s kit surprisingly had a pattern on it.
"Sis, what’s this pattern? How come I’ve never seen it before?" Gong Bei pointed at the pattern; he wasn’t sure if it was just his imagination, but looking at it for too long made him feel a little dizzy.
"You’re not supposed to have seen it." Jiang Xue replied blandly, then held the medical kit tightly in her arms, as if afraid someone would take it away.
As for the pattern on the medical kit, she didn’t know about it either until Little Fox told her it was an exclusive symbol of the Mystical Doctor, representing a flower called the Phoenix Flower. It’s also the name of a medicine, rumored to have the power to bring the dead back to life.
However, this flower is extremely rare, nearly extinct. Additionally, it has another name—the Enchanting Flower.
It’s said that staring at this flower for too long can cloud one’s mind, but Jiang Xue isn’t sure, as she hasn’t tested it.
Gong Bei, seeing that Jiang Xue didn’t want to divulge more, chose not to ask further and instead started chatting with Mu Qiancheng and the others. The group was happily conversing when the truck suddenly stopped—it turned out they’d arrived.
Mu Qiancheng and Gong Bei halted their conversation, jumping off the truck. After they got down, they turned back to help Jiang Xue.
Once Jiang Xue was off, they finally went to rendezvous. Night had deepened, and once she alighted, Jiang Xue took a look around but saw nothing.
Meanwhile, the leader was urging everyone to gather, so Jiang Xue had to withdraw her gaze and join the group.
Once everyone assembled, the leader briefed them on the mission and instructed the comrades to proceed with the rescue operation.
It’s often said saving a life is paramount. Upon dispersal, the soldiers immediately headed toward the collapsed building. Only then did Jiang Xue, illuminated by lights, see the collapsed structure not far away.
A glance revealed no shortage of ruined buildings—they seemed almost entirely toppled, with broken roofs and fractured walls, looking eerily tragic.
Jiang Xue followed behind Mu Qiancheng toward the neighborhood. Once there, the soldiers first shouted, checking if there were any survivors.
Watching the soldiers’ actions, Jiang Xue directly said to Little Fox, "Little Fox, I need your help now. Can you tell me how many people are still alive in this neighborhood, and where they’re located?"
"Got it!" This time, Little Fox didn’t haggle and immediately got to work.
