Chapter 1136: Chapter 1009: You Made a Move?
Liu Yi shook his head, "There’s not enough time. We can only boost Aunt Yuan and Uncle Tao’s position within their work unit to suppress the other side, but the root of the problem hasn’t been resolved."
Zhang Guoqing didn’t ask how the kids were boosting the position; in a short time, it must be using family background to pressure others, what else could it be.
May 1st curled his lip, "Grandfather, should we just let the villains keep their way? If someone points at my mom and calls her a stinking intellectual, I’d be surprised if I don’t take them down."
This little rascal!
Hearing this, Zhang Guoqing glanced at Zhou Xiaozheng, who was tightly pressing his lips with no response. Then he looked at Zhou Jiao, who seemed to be lost in thought, and got a chill down his spine. Hopefully, this doesn’t backfire!
Zhou Jiao signaled her sons to start eating and smiled while serving them dishes, "Don’t be hasty. Your Aunt Yuan and Uncle Tao should strengthen themselves. How else will they take root if they don’t grow?"
"You mean, leave them as grindstones?"
Zhou Jiao nodded slightly, "If the couple wants to integrate into the system, such issues will always exist. If we intervene every time something happens, it might not be a good thing for them. I’ve already arranged for someone to ensure their safety."
Zhou Xiaozheng, who had been silent throughout dinner, put down his chopsticks and reminded, "Give them a few more warnings, keep an eye on them, and make sure nothing goes wrong."
"Dad, don’t worry. I’ll handle these small matters. But haven’t your meetings been quite frequent lately? Is that person causing trouble again?"
Zhou Xiaozheng didn’t want his daughter to worry, so he mentioned cryptically, "The old chief is getting on in years, and he’s been ill again recently. You should also be cautious at your workplace."
Upon hearing this, Zhou Jiao looked at her father. She seemed to understand some underlying meaning—someone wanted to seize the remaining power, and others wanted to cause trouble by taking advantage of the situation.

It seems things are unstable again.
"You all be careful, too."
Apart from expressing concern, Zhou Jiao didn’t know how to comfort her father and Zhang Guoqing. In such a situation, she couldn’t intervene arbitrarily.
It seems staying neutral is becoming increasingly difficult, and her family’s biggest crisis is approaching. Fortunately, Zhang Guoqing is by her side to assist her father; otherwise, they’d almost be in turmoil.
Luckily, it’s already 1972, soon, really soon...
Setting aside the feelings of helplessness and anxiety, Zhou Jiao left the dining table with them and went to the living room to listen to her sons talk about interesting stories from their hometown.
For anyone, home is a safe haven to relax, especially for the Ping An Brothers who feel this deeply after traveling away.
With the family around, the three brothers show their childishness, squeezing beside Zhou Xiaozheng and others, teasing, mocking, or discussing things seriously.
The family gathered, and the warmth returned to their days.
At least Miao Lishan no longer worries about facing an empty room, and the other three no longer worry about the children’s safety away from home.
As half a month passed, Zhou Jiao indeed did not receive the notice to go abroad. Instead, Wan Dayong and his newly formed team traveled across the sea to a foreign land.
May 1st had just come home from school and, upon hearing the "unfortunate" news, clung to his mom’s arm, "Mom, luckily you’re not going that far, otherwise what would I do if I missed you?"

"So dramatic!" Liu Yi mocked his brother, then looked at Zhou Jiao to confirm, "Mom, you’re really not going on a business trip? I thought I wouldn’t see you for several days again."
Several days? Zhou Jiao chuckled at this. If it were a business trip, it would last at least a month or so. She was actually unaware, having heard that she wasn’t in the quota, so she hadn’t paid attention to the exact schedule of this trip.
She comfortingly patted both sons, glanced at Ping’an with a worried expression across, and smiled, "I never planned to be away for so long. Recently, study well at home, and don’t go out too often. I heard that the kids in the Big Courtyard had a fight with outsiders a few days ago."
Not just a fight? They almost used knives. The bicycle chains have become quite handy for everyone lately, let alone the bricks everywhere.
"Maybe, we’ve been staying in mostly lately." Ping’an didn’t want his mom to worry about the troubles outside, even keeping his two brothers busy with chores at home.
Zhou Jiao suspected since the kids outside knew her son knew a few tricks, why hadn’t they come to invite him? But considering her son’s IQ and EQ, he probably understood not to involve himself in such chaos.
"Hmm, safety first. If there’s a delay and a friend looks down on you brothers, such people aren’t worth having in your life."
Ping’an nodded and smiled, "I know, genuine friends are about quality, not quantity. Those who don’t share the same aspirations with us are just acquaintances."
Seeing her son understand her, and the approving looks on her younger sons’ faces, Zhou Jiao didn’t say more. Being overly talkative would just annoy the kids, producing a reverse effect.
Besides, if someone really dragged her sons into fights, Zhang Guoqing would ensure they’re taken to military training, no need for the kids to refuse.
According to Zhang Guoqing, it’s better to spend that time in the military venting some excess energy. He and her father would absolutely not allow the kids out of their sight.
And the twins?
They’re so young, if they don’t show up, no one would care.

Care? Zhang Guoqing secretly chuckled. His wife underestimated their sons’ influence. Hopefully, with everyone set to travel far, he wouldn’t want her worrying about anything outside.
In the quiet of the night, holding his wife close, Zhang Guoqing took a deep breath, savoring the familiar scent. But he soon felt a pang of conscience, stealing a glance at her, hesitantly asking, "Is it because of my relationship with Dad that you can’t go abroad?"
Zhou Jiao gave him an amused sideways glance, "You’re overthinking it; I really didn’t want to go." As for the reason, does it matter? Some clowns were digging pits for her, so she might as well go with the flow and not play along.
Remembering some rumors from work, Zhou Jiao felt fed up. They really wanted to push her out as a figurehead, making it seem like she wouldn’t survive without a foreign trip.
These short-sighted folks, she was waiting to see how long they’d enjoy their good days.
What’s wrong with being from a military family? Since they all wanted the quota, she would mess it all up at once, leaving them all stunned, right?
"Da Yong had treated us to a big meal a while ago, and now Da Yi has been nagging about it these past few days." Zhang Guoqing wasn’t aware people were talking about Wan Dayong’s background.
Of course, Zhou Jiao wouldn’t mention this. Her workplace was different from Wan Dayong’s unit; this trip wasn’t necessary in the first place.
"What’s so good about abroad? No food stamps are needed, but the prices are awfully high." However, Zhou Jiao was somewhat frustrated, "Originally, I wanted this trip to handle some matters, but it’s better now, more peace of mind. Pity though, I wonder if Xiao Hui is going?"
"For business?"
Zhou Jiao whispered back, "Personal affairs. For business, I could have applied through Uncle Shi." She then hesitated, looking at Zhang Guoqing.
"Speak up, did you plan to hold onto foreign currency and feel uncomfortable?"
