Chapter 110: Chapter 110: News of Wolf Warrior
Wu Yun said with some pride, "All that comes from user deposits. At most, we’ll just earn some interest and collect the rental fees. At this rate, Little Red Car should see some very high revenue in its first month online!"
Zhou Shen was quite envious. Little Red Car was the only player in the bike-sharing space right now, and many users were even posting about it and promoting it on their own initiative.
But Pinduoduo wasn’t the only one on the e-commerce platform. Domestically, Pinduoduo had two giants looming over it, and internationally, Amazon was eyeing the market hungrily.
If Pinduoduo wanted to break through the competition, it couldn’t lack strategy, resources, or funding. It was foreseeable that Pinduoduo’s initial marketing would be a cash-burning campaign. Zhou Shen could already smell the acrid scent of money burning in the air.
Fortunately, it seemed their boss’s resources were quite substantial. Pinduoduo could support itself for a while, which would allow it to achieve better data to attract external investment and resources later on.
"President Wu, are there any other companies? I feel like we’re not alone anymore!" Zhou Shen asked, the others looking on with excitement.
Wu Yun looked at their expectant faces and said, "I’m afraid you’ll be disappointed. The only company that can help Pinduoduo is a media company, and promotion is one of its services, but it’s still very small, and I usually don’t manage it much. As for the other two game companies, their products haven’t even launched yet. They’re still crying out for resources and need promotional support themselves."
Among Wu Yun’s companies, only Little Red Car was on the right track. The others were all still in their infancy.
"President Zhou, Director Li, while you’re recruiting, you need to first establish the company’s various rules, regulations, and compensation structures. This will help build and stabilize the company."
The two of them nodded in agreement.
"Director Yan, you all need to speed things up and develop the Pinduoduo app first. Let’s aim to get Pinduoduo launched by the end of the year!"
Yan Ming immediately declared, "President Wu, I’ve already contacted some of my old subordinates. Many of them are willing to jump ship and come over. With their help, I’m confident we can complete the task as soon as possible!"
"Director Shen, you need to communicate more with President Zhou about the company’s creative vision and spirit. That’s the only way to better plan corresponding events."
"Thank you all for your hard work! I’ll give everyone a big red envelope at the end of the year! And there will be no shortage of year-end bonuses. If the company does well, stock dividends are not out of the question." Wu Yun raised his teacup, dangling a carrot that was far more than just an empty promise.
The group enjoyed a happy meal. Aside from Zhou Shen, who was a little calmer thanks to Wu Yun’s prior promises, the other three were fired up with motivation.
「In the afternoon,」
Wu Yun only attended two hours of interviews before leaving early. He had received a call from Wei Feng at noon asking when he would be free. There had been progress on some of their previous plans, but it was too complicated to explain over the phone. Wei Feng hoped they could meet in person.
After leaving Citigroup Mansion, Wu Yun walked to the 16th floor of the neighboring Zhen Dan Mansion.
"Good afternoon, President Wu!" a lone female receptionist said, standing up. It was her first day on the job. She had just seen the photo of President Wu that President Wei had sent to the group chat. The receptionist felt a wave of relief. ’Good thing I have a weakness for a handsome face and studied the boss’s picture,’ she thought. ’Otherwise, I might not have recognized him.’
"Hello!" Wu Yun said, glancing at the bustling main office behind the front desk. ’No doubt about it,’ he thought. ’Wei Feng must have poached his entire team.’
People in the entertainment industry have a particular set of skills, one of which is an excellent memory for faces from photos. Their ability to recognize people from film clips is also top-notch.
And so, as Wu Yun walked in, he was met with greetings from all sides, making him feel as if he’d known them all for a long time.
Out of respect, Wu Yun knocked on the door to Wei Feng’s office.
"Come in!"
Wu Yun pushed the door open to see Wei Feng sitting at his desk, scribbling away. He was hunched over, completely engrossed in the notebook on his desk.
"AHEM~" Wu Yun cleared his throat twice, catching Wei Feng’s attention.
Wei Feng looked up and saw Wu Yun, then quickly stood up. "President Wu, you’re here already! I just called you a little while ago! This way, please! Come try my Pu’er tea."
Wei Feng led Wu Yun over to the coffee table, gesturing for him to take the main seat on the sofa while he sat to the side with his notebook.
Instead of immediately discussing business, Wei Feng picked up his tea set and, after a series of rinsing and steeping procedures, poured a small cup of tea for Wu Yun.
Wu Yun didn’t know the first thing about tea, but he thought Wei Feng’s process looked very particular, giving off a sophisticated and impressive air.
"President Wei, you’re something else. You pulled a whole team over this quickly," Wu Yun said, gesturing toward the office outside.
Wei Feng smiled, a hint of sarcasm on his face. "They were all people who had issues with our old company. The moment they heard I was hiring, they came right over. It’s the beginning of the month, so they just got last month’s salary. No loss for them to just up and leave."
"We have people for marketing, public relations, and sales, but the finance department is still empty. I’ll need you and me to interview candidates for that together, President Wu. After all, it’s a sensitive area."
Wu Yun shook his head, replying casually, "President Wei, I’ll have to trouble you to handle the hiring yourself. I’m heading to the Capital City soon, so I probably won’t have time for things like that. It’s fine. I trust you!"
’Besides, with the system’s monitoring, I can detect any signs of trouble before they even start,’ Wu Yun thought. ’And as long as Wei Feng isn’t a fool, why would he try any shady schemes instead of clinging tightly to a patron like me? If he were that kind of person, he probably wouldn’t have achieved what he did before.’
Of course, a reasonable amount of oversight was still necessary, so Wu Yun came up with an excuse. "President Wei, I’m entrusting the company’s management to you. You can keep me in the loop on major decisions and investments, but I probably won’t have much time for the day-to-day management of the other companies. My family will likely send auditors every year to check on my progress. After all, they invested a lot of money."
Wei Feng nodded with an understanding smile. "That’s to be expected. In that case, I won’t say more. I asked you to come over today, President Wu, mainly to talk about the progress on a few projects we discussed the other day and to figure out how to invest and what to acquire."
Flipping open his notebook, Wei Feng handed Wu Yun a stack of bound A4 paper. He pointed at it and said, "President Wu, this is the script for *Wolf Warrior*. After we parted ways the day before yesterday, I mobilized my friends in the industry to dig up information on Wu Jing’s *Wolf Warrior*. And we actually managed to find out a few things."
Wei Feng drained his small teacup in one gulp, refilled Wu Yun’s, and then added, "Wu Jing is preparing to sell his villa to fund the filming of *Wolf Warrior*. As you know, no one would sell their own house unless it’s an absolute last resort. I already had Wu Jing’s phone number, so I contacted him directly."
"When I called him, Wu Jing was a bit surprised. After all, he had approached my former company and was politely rejected. But when I told him I’d struck out on my own and was willing to invest in his film, he was thrilled and agreed to talk."
Wei Feng raised his hand to glance at his watch and continued, "Looking at the time, Wu Jing should have just landed in Modu!"
