Chapter 631: Chapter 629: Brother Yan Is So Pitiful
Once Yan Hui finally left, Ming Wan relaxed instantly.
Chuchu couldn’t help but laugh, saying, "You’re so afraid of him, like a student seeing a strict teacher."
Hearing this, Ming Wan couldn’t help but smile and said, "Isn’t he my teacher? When I first went abroad, I couldn’t keep up with my studies, and he tutored me for a whole year until he had to return to the country."
No wonder Yan Hui seemed so close and familiar with Ming Wan, and no wonder Ming Wan was a bit reserved around Yan Hui.
With Yan Hui’s brief interruption, Ming Wan’s mood improved quite a bit, with much of her previous sadness and gloominess dissipating.
As they almost finished eating, Ming Wan picked up the bottle of wine placed aside and pursed her lips, saying, "I shouldn’t waste this wine. I want to drink a little and have a good sleep later."
Still thinking about drinking, this girl must have recalled the unpleasantness with her family again. Chuchu advised, "Then drink a little less, too much will make you uncomfortable after waking up."
"Thank you." Ming Wan smiled faintly, poured herself a glass, carefully took a sip, frowned slightly, then put the glass back on the table.
She asked Chuchu, "Why don’t you ask me what happened?"
Chuchu blinked, glanced at the glass from which Ming Wan had sipped. The wine wasn’t that strong, right? Could one sip have made her drunk?
Without receiving a reply from Chuchu, Ming Wan took another small sip, smiled bitterly, "Actually, you don’t like me, otherwise, once you’re back, you wouldn’t ignore me. If I hadn’t called you today, you definitely wouldn’t bother with me."
Chuchu: "...What nonsense! I’m just trying to avoid getting involved with your brother."
Ming Wan paused, then burst into laughter, unable to stop. She laughed until tears came out, then turned her head and gently wiped them away.
"When we were young, my brother didn’t like playing with me, but he was very good to me. He always brought me treats and fun things, and whenever mom wanted to scold me, my brother would protect me. Later, in middle school, I went abroad, and I didn’t get to see my brother much, but every holiday he would personally come to bring me back.
He always fulfilled my needs, and I even feel my brother is more of a father than my own dad."
Chuchu listened quietly to her chatter, thinking to herself how she somehow looked like a good listener, and why Ming Wan chose her as the object to confide in.
Ming Wan suddenly sighed, mist rising in her eyes, "I just didn’t realize that he could treat me like this for his own purposes. Maybe he’s only a good brother when I’m of use to him."
Chuchu shrugged, "Even someone like me, unrelated to him, he’s able to recruit and use casually, so I don’t resent him."
"But you can stay far away from him," Ming Wan said, "I really envy you, having so many sincere people around who care about you, even Brother Yan likes you so much."
Chuchu: "...Yan Hui treats you well too."
"Hehehe..." Ming Wan laughed again, inexplicably amused. Chuchu watched as the full glass of wine was already half gone, clearly, she was indeed drunk.
Ming Wan suddenly leaned toward Chuchu, lowered her voice, and whispered, "Do you know? When I was young, I was both afraid of and admired Brother Yan, thinking he was the most perfect man in the world, even my brother was no match for him. At the time I wondered what kind of woman could win his favor, didn’t expect it to be you.
It’s a pity you’re married, and have two kids, a perfect family. Poor Brother Yan, he’s of that age, and finally finds someone he likes, yet can’t have them."
Chuchu felt a wave of frustration, this girl must be a mind-reader. In just a moment, she had deduced such deep thoughts.
"Don’t overthink it, because of my grandfather, that’s why Brother Yan treats me well."
Ming Wan didn’t dwell on it further, laughed again, and then ignored her, turning to sip her drink quietly, transforming into a silent kitten.
Chuchu: "..."
A drunk girl acting unruly is truly scary!
Chuchu examined Ming Wan closely, her features calm and charming, like a deep valley magnolia, bright, lovely, fragrant, sweet, graceful, and most importantly, she mentioned admiring Yan Hui when she was young.
Wonder if she still admires him now? Chuchu pondered over Andrew directly overlooking him, thinking he’s merely a toy for Ming Wan’s lack of love, not a lover at all.
Thinking further, she recalled the calculating Crown Prince, and immediately swept away her just-formulated idea, forget it, better not inadvertently deliver Brother Yan Hui into the Crown Prince’s scheme.
As she immersed in thought, her phone rang.
Taking a glance, it turned out to be a call from the kindergarten teacher, a thought flashed through: has something happened to Chuanqi and Hunter?
"Hello."
"What? Jiang Erzhuo got his head injured?!"
"Where is he now? And what about his sister Jiang Er Ya? What! Jiang Er Ya is in the hospital too!"
"Alright, I’m coming right away!"
Hunter had a fight with children and got his head injured, taken to the hospital by the school teachers. Chuanqi, to avenge Hunter, fell into bush with the children, scratched his face, and ended up in the hospital!
Chuchu felt a rush of anxiety, immediately packing her things, speaking to Ming Wan, "Quickly, don’t drink anymore, come with me to the hospital."
Ming Wan tightly gripped her glass, looking at her with groggy eyes, saying, "I’m not going to the hospital, I want to drink a bit more, just a bit more feels good. Didn’t expect alcohol to taste better the more you drink it."
Seeing her this way, Chuchu felt helpless, she couldn’t drag her, yet couldn’t leave alone, pacing around in anxiety.
Of course, Yan Hui was still here, he said to call him if needed, Chuchu suddenly realized and smacked her forehead.
She quickly called Yan Hui, and the phone was picked up with just one ring.
"Brother Yan Hui, I need to go quickly, but Ming Wan is drunk. Can you come over?"
"Alright, wait for me one minute."
In less than half a minute, Yan Hui came in, asking, "What’s the matter?"
Ming Wan, upon seeing Yan Hui enter, immediately pushed aside the glass, obediently lowered her head as if trying to hide, leaving Chuchu amused yet helpless, hurriedly said to Yan Hui:
"Hunter and Chuanqi have had a little issue at kindergarten, I need to rush over there. Ming Wan is drunk and can’t leave with me; could you take her to my home? There’s a babysitter there. She’s having some trouble with her family and is feeling down, so she might stay at my place for a couple of days."
Yan Hui caught the gist and asked, "What’s happened to Hunter and Chuanqi? Do you need me to have someone accompany you?"
"No need, just handle Ming Wan for me," Chuchu said while heading towards the door, then left directly after finishing her words.
