Chapter 22 - Demon king.
Dahesteros.
A special individual with a special agility that was said to be passed down from the demon king himself.
Years ago, during the reign of demons, the demon king, Voavkos, was said to have married over 12 wives, each one housing a part of his power.
From the ability to completely manipulate time to the power to freeze the whole world.
In accordance with their strength, they were called the witches of the demon king.
After the defeat of the demon empire, the witches all vanished from the world, leaving no trace of their existence.
Well, until years later, when they began to reincarnate back into the world they had once left behind. Every time a witch was born, she would go in search of a key, said to be buried in the one that carried the authority of the demon king, Voavkos.
These individuals were called Dahesteros.
Of course, not everyone knew about this, as it was something only a few people knew.
The only reason Adonis had any sort of idea about the matter was simply due to the fact that he had already read about it.
Still...
'I'm supposed to be her Dahestero?!' he exclaimed in his mind, though he still maintained a calm expression on his face.
The girl moved closer to Adonis, her lips almost touching his as she grabbed his hand.
"I'm glad I didn't have to wait a hundred years to find you. This is good; luck finally shone on me. Come, we have so much to talk about, my dear husband."
'Husband?!'
This time, Adonis could not hide his expression. His mouth was open, eyes completely sunk in.
Filo had enough.
She yanked Adonis's hand from the girl and pulled him behind her while keeping steady eye contact with the girl.
"Lord Adonis. Be careful; I don't like the vibe of this girl," she said with full seriousness.
'She's seriously sticking to 'Lord'?
The girl sneered a bit. "What do you think you're doing?"
"I should be asking you that. Why is a random person calling my guild master her husband? Are you some kind of harlot?" Filo spoke back.
Feeling embarrassed, the girl's face turned red. "How dare you?! I am a witch, the wife of the demon lord! How dare you call me a harlot?"
"What? A witch?" Filo was surprised.
For humans, witches were humanity's worst nightmares. A single witch was said to be capable of destroying an entire kingdom.
Though they had gone extinct, the world still feared them, always remembering the power of the witches.
"That's the right expression you should have given me. Now then, hand him over—" the witch stretched her hand forward.
"No. I don't care if you are a witch or not. Adonis is not your property," Filo voiced out, not backing down.
This made the witch furious, her fists clenched tightly.
"How can one person be so annoying? Why are you trying to get into something that isn't your business?!"
"He is my friend. It is very much my business."
"Pfft! Hahaha!" The witch laughed. "Your friend? Like the demon lord will align himself with a weak human. Once he awakens, he will remember how unreliable and untrustworthy you humans are. Now hand him over!"
The witch charged forward, but before she could get far, Filo sent a powerful punch straight at her.
Blocking the attack with her arm, the witch slid backward, the force pushing her despite how she tried to stop.
By the time she finally came to a stop and put her hand down with a frown on her face, she noticed Filo just standing there, a serious look on her face.
"That's enough joking around. Don't you dare call Adonis the demon king," Filo uttered.
Still feeling the lingering pain of the punch on her arm, the witch sighed before standing upright.
"You must be quite oblivious," she began. "For years, I have awaited the birth of the demon king. My husband will return to this world and destroy the world that once betrayed him. Even if his other wives are nowhere to be found, I still pushed on to find him. Now, tell me, do I look like someone who would make such a story up?"
Filo replied,
"Let's say you're right. If you're truly a witch, then you should have no problem killing me on the spot. I heard witches were incredibly powerful. Killing me should be a simple task."
The witch hissed in annoyance.
"Unfortunately, I don't have full access to my abilities. The demon king is the only one that can grant them to me after his awakening. And besides, if I wished to fight you, I would lose because you already have the blessing of the demon king."
"Quit calling him that," Filo said. "Why would I help you awaken him if he was truly the demon king? So you can destroy the world?"
"Destroying the world makes no sense. We simply want to eliminate humans and bring a world for only demons. Surely you can see the motivation in this." The witch replied.
"Yeah, no, I don't. You're crazy," Filo sighed. "Adonis, say something to this—"
Looking behind her, she realized Adonis was gone.
Adonis had gotten back to the ground ever since the two started arguing.
For the most part, he already knew what was going to happen. Calling him her Dahestero pretty much already cemented the fact that he was indeed the demon lord incarnate.
No point in arguing about it.
Standing in front of the gorilla corpses, Adonis placed his hand on his waist.

Behind him was Yuri, trying to heal Charles.
Adonis had already sent some of his soldiers to search the entire domain for any sign of another gate, in case the other hunters defeated the gate boss, so they could easily find their way out.
"Knowing Evans, I'm sure taking on the boss wouldn't be that much of an issue. Once he is done, I'll just go extract the boss's soul for myself. Now then..."
[Souls are ready for extraction.]
"Let's get this done," he grinned.
