Chapter 1330: Chapter 1330: Why Did You Lie to Us?

Evelyn Taylor had no idea about Amelia Linton’s phone call to Harriet White. When she drove back home, Harriet and Amelia had already finished their call and were sitting in the living room waiting for her to return.

"Evelyn! Where on earth did you go just now?" Hearing movement at the door, Harriet immediately stood up and walked out of the living room. Before Evelyn, who had just entered the door, could see her, Harriet was already questioning her daughter.

Hearing her mother’s voice, Evelyn paused momentarily while changing her shoes but quickly resumed as usual. After switching shoes, she carried her bag and walked inside.

"I just went out for a walk." Unaware of Amelia’s call to Harriet, Evelyn gave a perfunctory reply and headed towards the stairs.

Seeing this, Harriet quickly called out loudly, "Come here for a moment; I have something to ask you."

She stood at the living room door, waiting for her daughter to come over.

"Whatever it is, ask me tomorrow. I’m a bit tired now and want to go upstairs to rest." Evelyn was in a very bad mood and didn’t want to talk to anyone or do anything. She just wanted to go upstairs and be alone in her room.

However, Harriet had too much to ask Evelyn and, without any hesitation, stopped her from going upstairs once again, "It’s not too late to go up after I finish asking. Come over quickly, and don’t waste time talking back."

Her tone and words were much less polite than before, and her gaze at her daughter showed no sign of courtesy.

"I..."

"No ’I,’ hurry up."

Evelyn just wanted to refuse, but as soon as she said a word, Harriet interrupted her forcefully.

Seeing her mother’s very firm attitude, Evelyn didn’t persist further and turned towards where her mother was standing, "Mom! What exactly do you want to ask me so urgently? Can’t it wait until tomorrow?"

She knew her mother wouldn’t agree, but she still sulkily asked after walking over.

"No, it can’t."

Harriet replied firmly, turning to go back into the living room. She went in and sat down on the sofa first, not caring about Evelyn, who followed her in.

"Ask whatever you want quickly so I can go upstairs to rest." Evelyn didn’t bother to dawdle or be polite with her mother, sitting down beside her, she said directly.

Harriet glanced at her newly seated daughter and let out an almost inaudible sigh before slowly opening her mouth to ask, "Why did you deceive us?"

Looking sideways at her daughter, her face was full of discontent.

"What did I deceive you about?" Hearing her mother’s accusation, Evelyn instinctively retorted.

Seeing Evelyn like this, Harriet thought her daughter was deliberately playing dumb with her, and her face showed even more apparent displeasure, "Are you still pretending to be confused with me? Do you really take your dad and me for fools?"

Thinking about how her daughter had been deceiving her made Harriet especially angry.

"Mom! I’m not pretending to be confused; I really don’t know you..." Evelyn stopped mid-sentence as she suddenly realized something, her face showing surprise and panic, "You know everything?!"

She had always thought she could fool everyone without being caught, but she didn’t succeed after all.

Her mom only came to question her after her dad must have said something to her just now. Fortunately, she had already learned about the situation from her brother earlier; otherwise, her mom would have really scared her.
