Chapter 1286: Chapter 1285: Pain Beyond Her Control

After Jenny York was knocked into the air and sent to the hospital, although the doctors did their utmost to save her, the injuries were too severe, and she regrettably ended up in a vegetative state.

Lily Turner learned about this incident a month later while she was playing at an amusement park with little Ann. She ran into a university friend who mentioned Jenny York’s car accident and her subsequent vegetative state.

When she first heard about it, it was hard for her to believe it could be true. But seeing her friend’s serious and regretful expression, she knew it was real.

Knowing that Jenny York had become a vegetable after the accident left Lily Turner feeling particularly uncomfortable. At this point, she could have felt some schadenfreude, but she simply couldn’t; her heart was unbearably heavy.

Easton Holmes didn’t know what had happened. When he saw Lily Turner return looking so glum, he approached her out of concern to inquire, but she said nothing, sidestepped him, and went upstairs to her room.

"Mom! What happened?"

Unable to make sense of the situation from Lily, Easton Holmes turned his gaze away from the stairs and looked at Amelia Linton, who had gone out with Lily and little Ann, filled with confusion and worry.

Amelia Linton wasn’t entirely sure what had happened. At the time, while Lily was chatting with a friend, she was playing with Ann nearby.

"When we were at the amusement park, Lily ran into a friend. After chatting with that friend for a while, she ended up like this." Amelia Linton faithfully recounted what she knew to her son without holding back.

After hearing his mother’s words, the image of Jenny York suddenly flashed in Easton Holmes’ mind, and he felt even more worried. "A friend? What friend? A university friend?"

Thinking of how Lily had looked just now, he thought the most likely friend was Jenny York.

"I’m not sure either. It seemed like Lily and that friend were very close," Amelia Linton judged from the interaction between Lily and her friend. They laughed so happily and greeted each other so affectionately; she thought their relationship must be very good, otherwise, they wouldn’t be like that.

Hearing his mother’s response, Easton Holmes immediately dismissed his guess, but he became even more puzzled and uncertain. "They seemed very close? Then why was Lily like that? What exactly did that friend talk about with her?"

If the two were that close, there must have been something troubling in their conversation.

"I don’t know. I was playing with Ann at the time, so I don’t know what Lily and her friend talked about," Amelia Linton also wished to know what had happened. But seeing how unhappy Lily was, she didn’t dare to say much on the way back.

Confusion and concern filled her mind the entire way, but she didn’t dare ask anything casually.

"I understand."

Having gathered some insight from his mother, Easton Holmes felt slightly more assured. He greeted his mother and headed upstairs. Once there, he went straight to his and Lily Turner’s room.

Upon entering, he didn’t see Lily’s figure in the room. Just as he was about to turn around and leave to look for her, he suddenly heard noises from the bathroom.

Without the slightest hesitation, he strode toward the bathroom.
