Chapter 1316: Chapter 1305: Siblings

On one hand, Lee Shishi brushed off her bothersome thoughts after listening to her friend’s hints, and on the other, Ye Cheng expressed his wish for her to accompany him to pick up his sister.

"Me too? Is that okay?" she replied, surprised yet delighted.

"What’s not okay? You’re my girlfriend, and you’ll be her sister-in-law in the future. She’s been eager to meet you. After we pick her up, let’s go have a meal together."

Realizing that Ye Cheng’s sister wanted to meet her, Lee Shishi felt relieved but also a bit worried.

Relieved because her boyfriend Ye Cheng wasn’t hiding anything and genuinely only saw that girl as a sister; worried because maybe Ye Qiu intentionally arranged this, potentially causing her discomfort?

"You must be careful, many scheming girls claim territory by pretending to get along with you in front of your boyfriend, while actually trying to aggravate you," advised her friend.

"No way?" Lee Shishi was a bit skeptical. "Don’t alarm me unnecessarily."

"I’m not exaggerating. Just wait and see. Once you pick her up, she’ll probably find an excuse, say she’s car sick, and grab your front seat."

"But lots of people get car sick!"

"And that’s not all. When you eat, she’ll probably say she doesn’t like something, pick it out and put it in Ye Cheng’s bowl, then ask if you mind. How will you respond then?"

Lee Shishi thought it over, unsure of how to reply. Saying she doesn’t mind might lead to sulking, while saying she minds could be seen as petty since they’ve grown up together as siblings.

"Therefore, you must stay on high alert, never show weakness in front of this girl, and dress nicely tomorrow to show her who really is the main one!"

Despite feeling her friend’s assumptions were off, Lee Shishi still took them to heart; she truly loved Ye Cheng and didn’t wish to face any consequences of losing him.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" On the third day, Lee Shishi donned a pretty dress and blushed under Ye Cheng’s surprised gaze.

"Nothing, I just think you look great today." Ye Cheng opened the car door for her, capable of complimenting his girlfriend without awkwardness, thanks to years of training from his two sisters.

Thus, Lee Shishi blushed even more and felt satisfied, believing her friend’s advice was spot on.

"Is there anything I should be mindful of when meeting your sister?" she asked cautiously on the way there.

"She’s my sister, not a stranger; nothing particular to be mindful of," Ye Cheng replied casually.

This casualness, however, made Lee Shishi’s heart heavier, since it indicated his sister’s importance in his mind.

"Isn’t school starting in September? Why is your sister coming so early?" she continued to ask.

"Oh, she’s opening a shop in City A soon, so she’s coming early to prepare."

"A shop?"

"Didn’t I mention? Though my sister and I are both orphans, she’s very capable, and started making money early. At the beginning, when I was starting my business, she lent me the capital."

"Really?" Lee Shishi’s eyes widened in amazement, growing more curious and apprehensive.

"Not just her; my two other brothers and sisters are quite impressive too. I was planning to introduce you to them recently, but one sister is too busy for the moment. So we’ll wait until my third sister’s shop opens."

Ye Cheng felt he’d explained thoroughly, yet Lee Shishi grew more confused; how come there are other brothers and sisters? Why wait until the third sister’s shop opens for introductions? And how could a young girl provide her boyfriend with startup funds? Isn’t she also an orphan?

Holding these doubts, Lee Shishi accompanied her boyfriend Ye Cheng to the high-speed rail station, scanning the bustling crowd. She soon saw her boyfriend move, and she followed his gaze to see a tall, graceful girl coming, triggering alarm bells within her.

"Third sister," she heard her boyfriend call out to the girl.

"Big brother," the girl smiled in response.

As she pondered how to greet the girl, the girl had already approached and warmly smiled at her: "You’re the sister-in-law, right? My brother has often talked about you, saying you’re as gorgeous as you appear. I’m Ye Qiu, call me by my name or like my brother, call me third sister."

The girl’s infectious smile left Lee Shishi a bit dazed; how was reality different from imagination? It seemed Ye Cheng’s sister really didn’t harbor ill-will towards her?

"Are you tired? Let me take your luggage." Seeing Ye Qiu’s friendliness, she smiled back, eager to make a good impression.

"No need, let’s go our way and let big brother carry things." Ye Qiu giggled, linking arms with Lee Shishi as they walked ahead, engaging in intimate conversation.

"Sister-in-law, how did you meet my brother? We’ve asked him, but he always dodges answering."

Recalling this, Lee Shishi thought back to spring, receiving a call from her professor and rushing out, inadvertently bumping into him in front of the office building. Later in a dormitory social event, she saw him brought in as an extra. Only then did they become familiar; eventually she proposed their first date, inviting him to study at the library, where he also asked her to save him a seat.

"Big brother still lacks emotional intelligence as always!" Ye Qiu remarked. "Sister-in-law, I have a tip: with big brother, don’t be too polite. He lacks a certain sense, so be proactive with him. Generally, he wouldn’t refuse."

Of course, her boyfriend Lee Shishi knows him well, though their relationship is still new, making her shy. Ye Qiu’s warmth, however, moved her deeply.

She completely dismissed her friend’s previous statements, dismissing notions of childhood friends or hidden feelings; the siblings truly only share a simple, close bond.

"Is there anything you particularly enjoy eating, sister-in-law?" Ye Qiu asked from the back seat.

"Today is for picking you up, so it’s all about what you’d like to eat."

"In that case, let sister-in-law taste my cooking; the shop’s renovation is almost done, let’s test the kitchen."

Hearing this, Lee Shishi was intrigued. "You started earning money and trying to open a shop at such a young age? Your brother mentioned you funded his startup."

Ye Qiu laughed and clarified: "Back then, the orphanage conditions were poor, and we siblings were forcibly separated. To reunite, we had to strive earnestly, I just happen to have talent in cooking! Plus, that money was earned together with big brother, it wasn’t only me, he’s just being modest!"

Listening to her recount how the four siblings were separated and driven to work hard, Lee Shishi was immensely curious yet felt awkward asking further.
