Chapter 52: Interstellar / 7.1 : This Eden is a soldier
When Eden opened his eyes he immediately knew he was in danger. He blinked quickly to receive the information about this universe.
This Eden was a 20 years old Omega of The Royeax Kingdoms & Principalities. Eden was also a temporary service officer hoping to become a full-fledged soldier. He was signed to The Military Society which was responsible for making the fiercest soldiers including his father and grandfather previously. Before his father died on the battlefield like a hero he was the Supreme Commander of The Royeax Kingdoms & Principalities. He had the King’s army under his command.
Eden had always admired his father and decided to follow his route. Being an Omega in the army wasn’t unheard of but the percentage was 80% Alphas and Betas for 20% Omegas. Eden who only had his mother left at his sides after his father and grandfather passed away supported his decision. His mother knew that it was bound to happen when he married into the powerful Ning family. Eden’s family on his father’s side was one of the richest in the kingdom.
Unfortunately, not everyone supported his decision. Tong Shangyu Eden’s fiance thought that he should stay home and act as his wife once they marry when they turn 21 while he becomes a full-fledged soldier. The Tong family had been friendly with the Ning for generations and when the two were born only a few days apart it was decided that they would marry. Shangyu believed in the old ways of Omegas being only good for carrying babies and warming the bed.
After a medical procedure was created that allowed their heat to be put to sleep using drugs more Omegas joined the army including Eden. Even if he respected his fiance he had decided and no one would change his mind. Because of Eden’s rich background and his family’s impressive military history, people thought that he was arrogant and defiant when it wasn’t the case.
Having been raised in a military family Eden had always been obedient and duty-bound but no one saw him that way when he entered The Military Society. As soon as he became a temporary service officer he faced many trials and tribulations, not just the one imposed by the school to make sure he had the strength to become a soldier for the strongest army in the galaxy.
Everyone hated him and he had a blackened personality courtesy of Chen Yanzhao an Omega. Yanzhao was the colonel of The Royeax Kingdoms & Principalities the third in command under the General and at the top Zhu Haoxuan The Supreme Commander. As soon as Yanzhao saw Shangyu Eden’s fiance he fell in love and decided that he would do anything to have him.
During the trials, they had to face to become soldiers Yanzhao would always sabotage Eden. It first started with tossing Eden’s knocked-out body into a cave full of Goises. The first trial happened on planet Vrokkro. There they had a terminal that would count points every time they killed an alien.
The Goises were black creatures who had green scales. They had latent telepathic abilities and lived in the thick atmosphere of a carbon dioxide-rich gas giant. Only someone with a strong spiritual power would be able to resist and not choke on the atmosphere to end up being ripped apart by the Goises.
Eden ended up surviving when his roommate Huang Dawei happened to pass by and he passed the trial by a point. The second trial was a simulated spaceship highjack where each soldier had a team they had to keep safe and steal as much information on the enemy as possible.
Yanzhao hacked his terminal and the little information each soldier had at the beginning of the trial was falsified. Eden ended up losing his entire team and failing the trial. At that point not only was his reputation as a Ning destroyed but also as a soldier.
The last trial was the hardest and Eden decided to give it all to be able to enter the army. It was a mission under the Lord Commander Zhu Haoxuan on the planet Tamengi. The army was after the Sokloran-Pans. These hunter-gatherer aliens would trawl the galaxy looking for decommissioned ships and space debris to add to their fleet. Their collective name: The Gathered, was founded upon their objective, and they were known quite famously around the galaxy.
They had abandoned their homeworld over 300 years ago due to rising temperatures and a resulting decline in plant and animal life. Their sun was dying too, causing dangerous solar flares, and so they had to leave home and adopt a nomadic lifestyle.
The Gathered had assembled their entire fleet on the planet Tamengi and it was the best way to exterminate them all. After working tirelessly on his father’s last mission before he died on the field after fighting The Gathered Eden found out that he could kill the entire army in one strike.
The Gathered had a queen they would always keep hidden because she was vulnerable and the center of their strong power. Yanzhao who had hacked Eden’s terminal found out and decided to use that information to kill Eden and become a hero. Eden knew that someone was after him he just didn’t know who it was so he decided to keep it a secret.
When they arrived on planet Tamengi all the soldiers were separated between the Supreme Commander, The General, and Yanzhao The Colonel. Eden who was on the Supreme Commander’s team explained his finding and the plan to him but he became furious.
The Supreme Comander Zhu Haoxuan was friends with Yanzhao and he had already told him Eden’s finding in the ship as his own. Haoxuan thought that Eden was jealous of Yanzhao and his fiance Shangyu’s close relationship which was visible to everyone and decided to steal his hard work. He sent Eden to Yanzhao’s team so he would see the labor of his hard work he tried to steal. It was Shangyu’s idea who was on the Supreme Commander’s team.
Eden joined Yanzhao’s team and at that point, he knew he was the one sabotaging him. He already knew he loved Shangyu but he didn’t care because he had no intention to marry him but that mission was important to him because The Gathered were the ones who had killed his father a decade ago.
He decided that he would be the one to kill the queen wether Yanzhao liked it or not. In the middle of the night when they camped Eden sneaked out and enter the tunnel leading to the queen after he gazed The Gathered.
He had researched enough to find out how to best kill them with fewer casualties as possible. Eden made it to the queen and killed her and all The Gathered died. When he turned around he was killed by Yanzhao who then had his body beamed on a desert on a remote planet so it would never be found. He sent a message in the terminals of every soldier waking them to let them know he had killed the queen and subsequently the entire army of The Gathered.
The entire Royeax Kingdoms & Principalities celebrated him for doing something that even the most powerful Supreme Commander Eden’s father couldn’t do. Before leaving Tamengi they only looked for Eden for an hour before tracking his terminal in the stomach of a Sokloran-Pans. They believed he had been eaten which was a common occurrence for the Sokloran-Pans, especially during war.
Shangyu decided to stop fighting his feelings for Yanzhao and they married. They had two children together and they became the most famous couple in The Royeax Kingdoms & Principalities.
When Eden had received all the information he smiled and optimized his body. His spiritual strength went from a 2S to a 5S and his physical level L became triple-A. The strongest Omega in the Royeax Kingdom is Yanzhao, his spiritual strength is 2s and his physical level is C which is impressive for an Omega.
50% of Alphas are 2S, then 25% are 3S and the last 25% are below. Usually, they don’t go above that. Eden’s father was the only Alpha to be 5S and right now The Supreme Commander Haoxuan is 5S too. An omega who is 2S is extremely rare let alone 4S.
The fact that Eden an Omega is 5S makes it incredible. Eden stood up and tossed a spiritual orb illuminating the dark cave and saw the seven Goises surrounding him. Because of his spiritual strenght, he had no problem breathing and he could tell the Goises were surprised.
A spiritual sword materialize in his hand and he smiled. He loves being in this universe, especially after what happened in Versal before. He can’t OOC and every him in every universe is always too nice and soft-spoken but in this universe, they all think he is arrogant and defiant so if he acts like it he won’t.
Plus he is a soldier and he gets to lash out all the pent-up anger he has against the one who did this to him especially after he had to give up a part of his power when he checked on him. Eden pulled out what seemed to be a small ancient brooch and fixed it on his shirt.
Two of the Goises ran toward him but Eden jumped high in the air and after his spiritual sword disappeared he gripped the two blasters at each side of his pants and shot them both. He landed gracefully and holstered them back. Two swords materialized and he moved fast like a shadow slashing each Goises until they bleed out.
When they were all dead Eden looked at their corpses then at his terminal and saw that those seven Goises had gotten him each a thousand points. Usually, people finish the trial with 1000 points and that’s if they sleep only five hours each night.
The trial lasts five days and Yanzhao who’s part of the checking team of the temporary service officer knocked Eden out and threw him in the cave a couple of hours before the end. In the end, they are beamed to the ship and their terminal is checked to see how many points they earned.
No one dares venture to the caves of the Goises because they would choke but Eden will go there since he only has an hour left. He walked out and after checking Versem he walked to another cave. The good thing right now is that Yanzhao still hasn’t hacked his terminal and he doesn’t know about The Gathered having a queen.
What he loves, even more, is that his reputation is blackened so he doesn’t have to pretend to be nice and care about people. Despite them treating him terribly Eden never talked out of turn and he was always the respectable person he was raised as. What angers him the most is how they kept saying he uses his father’s legacy to do whatever he wants when he worked as hard as everyone else.
Just because Yanzhao loves Shuangyu he thinks it’s okay to destroy his life? The funniest part is that Shangyu was against Eden joining the army and thought that he should be a stay-at-home wife and yet he ended up with Yanzhao who was the Colonel of the army.
He is such a fuckin hypocrite and he is going to pay too. When Eden reached the cave he threw a spiritual orb in the air and it followed him until he reached a nest of five sleeping Goises. He used his blaster and left. He walked in the forest whistling waiting for the time to end.
He ended up passing in front of Shangyu but ignored him. He continued whistling in a good mood and he didn’t want his "fiance" to taint it. Shangyu looked at Eden pass with a frown and decided to follow him from afar. He followed him to a cave with a deeper frown.
He doesn’t understand why he is being so stubborn. Everyone knows that in the cave there are Goises and it’s not like Eden can kill them. He stood at the side looking as Eden killed every one of them using a spiritual sword. When he was done he continued whistling and left. He felt stunned and unable to say anything. He was preparing to intervene but he clearly didn’t need him.
When the alarm indicating the end of the trial rang they were all automatically beamed on the ship. They all dropped their terminal at Yanzhao. Eden handed it to him expressionlessly and left. Yanzhao looked at him leave angry.
He thought that he would never make it out of that cave alone but here he is in perfect shape, there’s not even a scratch on him. He looked at the terminal and was astonished. Eden terminal’s said that he had earned 17 000 points.
It’s impossible, he got 1100 points and he is the strongest Omega in The Royeax Kingdoms & Principalities. He saw Eden’s spiritual power and physique level he is far behind him. Realizing what it meant Yanzhao smiled maliciously, with Eden cheating he has a reason to expel him.
Without him in The Military Society, Shangyu will be able to get closer to him without feeling awkward. All they’ve done right now is talk a couple of times but he should feel freer without Eden. Once all the terminals were taken he left for the Supreme Commander Haoxuan’s office.
Once he agreed to have a meeting with all the soldiers in the counsel room he made an announcement. He sat at the table at the head of the council room on Haoxuan’s left with a smile while he watched Eden taking his seat. Today you’ll be gone for good.
