Chapter 247: Heretic / 1.8 : I wouldn’t miss it for the world

Serena took a seat next to the queen and smiled. Arabella smiled back. She can tell that Serena wants to make a good impression. She smiled at her parents as well, and they smiled back.

Arabella asked her husband:

"Where’s Lucian?"

"I don’t know, I’m sure he’ll be here shortly."

Arabella nodded, then looked at Cayus.

"Is Kian alright?"

"I checked on him yesterday before he fell asleep, and he looked drained. I called his doctor, he’ll be there in a couple of hours."

Arabella asked:

"Can’t he come sooner?"

"He can’t."

She proposed:

"We can call our doctor, he can be there in five minutes."

Aurelia said:

"It’s okay now that I’m here, I usually take care of him when he is sick."

Arabella nodded despite feeling confused. Kian’s aunt isn’t a doctor, and that’s what he needs right now. Elian frowned.

When the doors opened they all looked at Kian and Lucian enter together surprised. Lucian took a seat on his father’s left and pulled Kian, so he would seat next to him. Kian took a seat, despite wanting to seat as far as possible from him.

Kian said with a smile:

"Good morning."

The king and queen smiled at him. Kian looked at Elian, who was sitting next to him, and smiled.

Elian smiled back and asked:

"How are you?"

"I’m okay."

He felt better, seeing that Kian looked perfectly fine.

Kian looked at Aurelia and said:

"Aunt, you’re finally here, did you do enough shopping?"

Even though Kian’s words could be seen as a dig, because of his smile everyone believed that he was being nice.

Aurelia smiled despite her annoyance and said:

"I did. How are you feeling? I was planning to check on you after breakfast."

"I’m okay, I’m just hungry."

Arabella said:

"Dig in, If you want something, we’ll tell the chef to cook it for you."

Kian looked at her, he’s never met a mother figure that looks and is actually pleasant since he’s been transmigrating the multiverse.

But Arabella is genuinely nice, and so is the king. She looks a little like his mother, with her dark hair and chestnut eyes. He smiled and said:

"Thank you."

Arabella smiled, her husband was indeed right. She can tell that Kian is a sweet kid. No wonder Lucian has taken a liking to him. She was shocked when her husband told him about the feast. She wished she would’ve seen it with her own eyes.

Kian looked at Lucian when he filled his plate. When it was full, he looked at him then away, and murmured:

"Thank you."

Lucian caressed his head with a smile and filled his plate. Kian ate in silence, he could feel angry eyes on him and looked up. He asked:

"What’s wrong, cousin? You look upset."

Serena smiled and said:

"Not at all, you shouldn’t eat this much, you know that your body can’t retain it."

Lucian looked at Serena.

"He knows better than anyone his body."

Serena’s face flushed in humiliation, and she looked down. Lucian is her fiancé, why is he acting this way? Even if he isn’t open to him, he shouldn’t be to Kian. He should care about her and no one else. Why is Kian even awake after what her father gave him?

She looked at him and saw that he was looking at Kian wondering the same. Cayus said:

"Kian if you want to rest during Beast Warfare it’s okay."

Kian looked at him and smiled.

"I wouldn’t dare to miss the beginning of Beast Warfare for the world, no matter how exhausted I am."

Cayus smiled back.

Lucian asked:

"Are you tired?"

Kian answered, his head down.

"No."

Lucian moved his fingers lightly and Kian’s face was turned.

Kian narrowed his eyes.

"I don’t like it when you do that."

Lucian looked at Kian’s flushed face and chuckled.

He said:

"I don’t like it when you don’t look at me when I speak to you."

Kian blinked.

Arabella smiled. Kian resumed eating, annoyed. He feels that only Lucian can shatter the illusion of the person he is trying to become. It’s like his green eyes pierce through his soul.

Aurelia looked at her daughter and frowned. She needs to speak to Kian, he sees her as a mother, so she knows he’ll listen to her. It seems like Lucian is interested in him, he’s sure he’s not aware of it though.

She’ll just tell him to keep his distance. Serena should get closer to him, not the fool who is about to die. She should’ve been there yesterday, if she did none of this would’ve happened.

Serena told her everything, and she doesn’t like it one bit. She even mentioned to her that Kian threatened her husband.

She looked at Kian as he spoke to the king and queen. She felt like Kian was the one who was about to become their son-in-law, not Serena. She looked in silence and immediately stood up to grab the glass out of Kian’s hands when he was about to drink blood.

She’s furious that Cayus let him consume blood while she wasn’t there, that’s why the drugs he gave them didn’t keep him asleep today. He’s stronger, and it will take a few days for him to become depleted of it.

She’s not going to let him drink more of it, especially now that she’s seen how close to the royal family he is. The king, queen, Lucian, and Elian looked at Aurelia.

Kian tilted his head. Aurelia said:

"Kian the doctor was clear, you can’t consume blood."

The queen said:

"I’m sure a glass a day is okay."

"It isn’t, his doctor specializes in heretics and was clear about it. Cayus already told me you drank blood, and I’m very disappointed in you. I know better than anyone how bad things can get because I’m always the one at your side when it happens. You’re lucky you can walk, how can you do something that might put you in this situation again?"

Kian looked at his aunt hurt. Aurelia was confused. Kian asked:

"Just because you saw me at my worst, you think it’s okay to throw it in my face?"

Aurelia said:

"That’s not what I’m doing, I can’t watch silently as you worsen your health."

"I’m already going to die, why shouldn’t I get to do what I want? I’m sick of being sick and having you treat me as though I’m made of glass. From now on, you’re not to mention my health."

Kian waved his hand, and the glass left Aurelia’s hand and floated toward him. Kian grabbed it and drank. Aurelia looked at him wide-eyed, did that bastard just disobey her?

Cayus smirked, when his wife lost it at Kian drinking blood, and said that she would set him straight he didn’t say anything. He wanted her to see it with her own eyes. When Kian finished drinking the glass he looked at his aunt who was still standing stunned.

Aurelia woke up and said:

"If your mother was here, she would be utterly disappointed."

Kian’s eyes turned red and the glass in his hand broke.

Aurelia looked at it shocked, but before she could say something Kian was up and holding her in a chokehold.
