Chapter 212: ABO / 5.23 : Green emerald
Elwyn looked up from his cell phone when he heard sounds. The hacker told him that the alpha he found to kill Atlas was in the room but he can’t tell which of the servers he is.
He sent him a text but he isn’t answering again. He looked on stage and watched Jacob, Damian, and Atlas walk to the table and take a seat. He narrowed his angry eyes at Atlas.
He should be the one on stage in the middle of Jacob and Damian, not Atlas. It’s fine in a few minutes he’ll die.
Damian turned on his microphone and said:
"Welcome to Cian Cube’s launch party. Despite the new gear and game being under Cian Cube’s name, it was created entirely by a single brilliant mind and we were lucky enough to have him agree to work with us. Without further adieu Immerse Cube."
All the lights were turned off and everyone looked at the screen behind Damian, Atlas, and Jacob. They all looked at the screen stunned.
The promotion was from a first person’s point of view and you could see the amazing lifelike design you would experience once you put on the headset.
When the promotional video was over the lights were turned back on and everyone stood up and clapped.
Mircea and Ludek were speechless. This is by far Atlas’ greatest creation. With it, they would’ve been able to make millions but now Cian Cube will. At that moment they didn’t feel hurt but angry.
Elwyn who had noticed the change was over the moon. Once the room was silent again all the reporters lifted their hands to ask questions.
Damian pointed at one and he asked:
"When will the headset and the game be released?"
"They will be available in preorder starting today at midnight on CianCube.com and you’ll receive them in three weeks."
He pointed at another.
"Is everything patented and licensed under Cian Cube?"
Damian was about to answer but Atlas put a hand on his.
"It’s under Atlas and Cian Cube."
Damian and Jacob looked at Atlas surprised. Even if he works for Cian Cube in the contract it says that he’s more like a contractor meaning he can keep all his creations under his name but the fact that he put them under Cian Cube shows how much he trusts them.
Atlas pointed at a reporter and he asked:
"Didn’t you create all of this during your time at Nye Games? Shouldn’t they owe the rights to it?"
Ludek and Mircea smiled at that question. Atlas raised an eyebrow.
"Why should they hold the right to it when it was all created by Atlas, not a Nye? And this was all done by my lonesome during my free time so they have no grounds for it or they would’ve already sent their lawyer after me. Lord knows they would since they’re the most greedy person on this planet."
Ludek’s hands tightened into fists. A reporter asked:
"You destroyed Nye Games with Extinct then went to work for Cian Cube don’t you think you have to pay back the damage you caused?"
"Are you stupid?"
The reporter asked stunned:
"What?"
Atlas tilted his head.
"I asked are you stupid? If you are I don’t want to waste my time talking to you. You’re a reporter shouldn’t you base your finding on research and evidence? What kind of useless journalist are you?"
The reporter’s face reddened and he looked down. Another reporter asked:
"Then why didn’t you have a press conference to tell everyone that you’re innocent?"
Atlas said:
"Because I don’t care if people don’t believe me including the two selfish people who "raised" me. As long as the two people sitting next to me believe me I don’t care."
Damian and Jacob smiled. Damian caressed his baby’s head and said:
"We’ll only answer questions regarding Immerse Cube and nothing else."
Ludek stood up and yelled:
"We raised you as our son when you aren’t and this how you repay us by destroying our company and working for someone else?"
Mircea stood too and yelled:
"You’re nothing more than an ingrate! I should’ve never given you my love as my child."
As soon as Mircea said that the light was turned off and the screen turned on again. They were all surprised to see a man wearing a black hood and a mask looking at them.
His voice was modified as he said:
"Elwyn I gave you time to send the rest of the money but since you still refuse I decided that I would destroy you."
Elwyn felt his heartbeat quicken and he looked at the screen wide-eyed. It’s the hacker.
The screen was split in two and on the left was a security tape of Elwyn looking around to make sure no one was around before entering a room and sitting behind a computer.
The camera zoomed in on the screen of the computer and everyone could see that he had just opened a file called Extinct and put a virus in the file after making a copy and leaving inconspicuously.
The man said:
"Elwyn asked me to create a virus so he could destroy Atlas’ spotless reputation as a video game creator. That way once he fixes the problem everyone will see that he is better than him but unfortunately for him, he never thought things would go that far. To cover his track he asked me to find him someone who would be able to get rid of Atlas for good."
The screen split in two and Elwyn’s conversation with the hacker appeared. Elwyn immediately recognized it and knew he was fucked.
The hacker said:
"I already sent all of this to the police and I don’t doubt that they’ll soon arrest you for a murder attempt. Next time when someone tells you to pay them do it unless you want them to destroy you."
The screen turned off and the lights were back on. They all looked toward Ludek and Mircea and looked at Elwyn who had stood up at some point. His face was pale and he looked like he had seen a ghost.
It was easy to tell that he was guilty. Mircea and Ludek looked at him and Ludek said:
"Please tell me this isn’t true Elwyn."
Elwyn’s eyes moistened and tears ran down his face. He is already screwed the hacker sent their conversation to the police and now he’ll go to prison. He needs his parents’ help or he’ll be even more screwed.
He looked at them and said crying pitifully:
"I just wanted you to be proud of me and stop thinking that Atlas is a genius."
Mircea fell back on his chair in shock while Ludek looked at Elwyn incredulously.
All the reporters were having a field day. They never thought they would have so much drama at a game launching party. Ludek howled:
"You destroyed Nye Games when we named you the heir! How could you do this to us?"
Elwyn cried:
"You always complimented Atlas and gave him all the attention."
Ludek forcefully slapped Elwyn and he fell to the floor.
He touched his cheek in shock then looked up at his father. Ludek howled:
"Not only did we give you Atlas’ place as the heir when he did everything for the company but we gave you his fiance and you dare complain? We were willing to toss him out of the house for you someone we met a few months ago when we raised him all those years!"
Atlas sneered. Even if Mircea and Ludek love him they only love the person he’s been pretending to be since he entered this universe, not the real him. They want everything to be their way.
They’ll live the rest of their life in guilt without Nye Games and Atlas knows that it will be the worst punishment for them. Ludek was about to slap Elwyn again but Mircea held him back.
He said:
"It’s not worth it. You heard what the man said he sent everything to the police he’ll pay for everything he’s done. We need to speak to Atlas and beg for forgiveness."
Atlas stood up to leave but he stopped when he heard Damian call him.
"Atlas?"
Atlas turned around and looked at him surprised but quickly he was overtaken by excitement. Damian was on one knee and he was holding a box with the emerald engagement ring.
Everyone was looking at the scene stunned. They all believed Damian was asexual yet here he is proposing to Atlas with the famous green emerald. Elwyn who had stood up looked at the green emerald ring furiously.
Damian smiled at his baby and said:
"Atlas before I met you I never believed I would fall in love. I didn’t think it was possible to always be happy and have such a fulfilling life. You made every aspect of my life better and I can’t see my life without you. When I think about our future and having a baby with you I still feel like I’m dreaming. I want us to spend the rest of our life together. Atlas will you marry me?"
Atlas swallowed and blinked back tears. He murmured emotionally:
"Of course I’ll marry you."
Damian passed the ring around his finger and stood up to kiss him tenderly. Atlas held onto his neck tightly.
The entire room applauded and Jacob looked at them with a smile. He’s glad the proposal went well he knows how nervous his father was but as soon as he saw Atlas’ eyes when he saw him on his knee he knew that he didn’t have to.
He was literally vibrating in excitement. Atlas pulled back and said with a bright smile:
"I love you."
"I love you more beloved."
Atlas looked at the ring with a smile. Even if Damian would’ve proposed with another ring he would’ve been okay but he knows how much his mother meant to Damian so it makes him happy that he did.
Damian asked:
"Do you like it?"
"I do it’s beautiful."
Elwyn ran toward them and pulled out a gun, when they heard a gasp Damian stood in front of Atlas. Mircea screamed in fear:
"Atlas!"
Before Elwyn could shoot Atlas Damian’s bodyguard shot him and he fell dead on the floor.
Damian pulled Atlas in his arms and asked:
"Are you okay?"
"I’m okay."
Damian hugged Atlas tightly and Atlas caressed his nape. A few minutes later the police showed up and the room became a crime scene. Damian took his baby to the presidential suite so the police could question him away from the reporters.
When Atlas and Damian had given every information and the tape of the cameraman they left. Atlas leaned his head on his Er-Ge’s chest. Damian held him tighter and kissed his forehead.
At least now they are done with Elwyn and everyone knows the truth since the whole event was filmed live. When someone knocked Jacob stood up thinking the police might have more questions but it was Mircea and Ludek.
Jacob looked at Atlas and he nodded. He let them in and they took a seat in front of Atlas and Damian. Mircea asked in worry:
"Atlas are you and the baby alright?"
Atlas simply nodded. Ludek said:
"Congratulation."
"Yes, congratulation on the engagement and the baby."
Atlas asked impatiently:
"Why are you here?"
Mircea’s eyes moistened and he said:
"We want to apologize for the way we treated you."
"We’re sorry Atlas we believed Elwyn when he’s done nothing but lie to us since he came home."
Atlas said:
"I heard you and now that you’ve apologized you can leave."
Mircea said pleadingly:
"Atlas please forgive us we want you in our life again. We want things to be the way they were before all of this."
Atlas sat up and said:
"I don’t. I don’t want to pretend to be someone I’m not just to please you when the only reason you love me is that you have control over me. You would think that after everything I’ve done for you and Nye Game I would at least be allowed to be myself and be considered. The reason why it was so easy to get rid of me is that you felt like I had the upper hand on you because I bring more than you two ever did or will to Nye Games. The only way you feel happy is if I constantly need your help as Elwyn did. I’m not going to pretend I’m weak and needy just to satisfy your ego. Leave me alone from now on and like you said we’re not family since I’m not a Nye and I was never one. Stay away from me and my family."
Mircea looked at Atlas as tears ran down his face.
"Atlas please..."
Before Mircea could say more two bodyguards were blocking his and Ludek’s view of Atlas.
Ludek grabbed his wife’s hand and left with him. Atlas leaned his head on Damian’s chest again. Now that he is finally done with all of them he can focus fully on his family.
Atlas spent the rest of his life with Damian. As soon as Immerse Cube was released it was sold out in a matter of hours. When things finally calmed down at the company Atlas and Damian married.
Atlas resumed working on his and Jacob’s new game before he was due and it allowed him to meet someone. Jacob fell madly in love and the two became mates before Atlas gave birth to his baby.
Atlas decided to name the baby omega Eden. He and Damian decided to stay home for a year with the baby and Damian would sometimes go to the company if Jacob needed him.
A year later Jacob married and his mate gave birth to an omega. Once the babies grew up they became extremely close and ran Cian Cube together. Most people believed they were twins since they were always together.
When they married they were each other’s men of honor. Atlas was over the moon when he had grandchildren and he and Damian decided to travel around the world.
Mircea and Ludek tried everything in their power to Atlas back in their life but it never worked.
Ludek had to file for bankruptcy and he and Mircea had to move to a village since they had used up all their savings. Their entire life they felt guilty for the way they treated Atlas.
When Damian’s time was close Atlas and he went back to China and spent one last day with the entire family. That very night Damian passed away and after kissing his forehead Atlas left for Versal.
When he arrived he cried uncontrollably until he had received all the power and he could finally fall asleep.
He only opened his eyes 800 years later and looked around the space. He floated toward a pink planet and disappeared after reaching out.
