Chapter 205: ABO / 5.16 : Getting rid of him
Ludek entered his house and slammed the door.
"Ludek?"
Ludek and Elwyn walked to the living room.
When they entered Mircea immediately asked:
"Have you spoken to Atlas?"
Ludek said:
"I haven’t, I thought he would at least call me back after the press conference."
Mircea said:
"He texted me and said that he’ll be home in five minutes."
Ludek narrowed his eyes, that bastard didn’t answer him but he texted Mircea.
"He finished his new project right?"
"I talked to him yesterday and he said that what’s left can be done by any technician."
Mircea let out a relieved breath, he was worried he would be far from done and it would be impossible to finish the project. After what happened they’ll need something big to gain their client’s trust again.
He asked:
"Have you seen the stock market?"
Ludek took a seat.
"I have. Someone has been spreading the news that they’ll get hacked no matter what game they play and 80% of the players don’t dare to."
Elwyn frowned, he didn’t think it would go that far. He just thought that people would delay playing Extinct until they told everyone they fixed it. But some people still don’t dare to play the other games even after the press conference.
Mircea said furiously:
"We need to toss Atlas out of the house! How could he be so selfish and destroy our reputation like that? We kept him home even after we found out he wasn’t our son and this is how he thanked us? By screwing us over?"
Ludek said:
"Once we commercialize the VR headset and game through Cian Cube everyone will run to get it."
Elwyn asked:
"Didn’t you say Cian Cube took our games out of the portal?"
"They have but as soon as they see the headset and controllers they’ll immediately want to be in business again trust me I know Damian."
Mircea looked at Elwyn.
"You need to speak to Jacob and try to convince him to put the games back in Cian Cube. I’ve seen how much he loves you he would do anything for you."
"I will mother."
Mircea smiled and he smiled back but Elwyn’s heartbeat was out of control. He didn’t imagine that things would get this out of control.
He didn’t think the company would take such a dive and that Damian would end the deal between the two companies.
There’s a clause in the contract that says that if something that might tarnish Cian Cube’s reputation happens to Nye Games they’ll end their partnership.
Since he and Jacob’s marriage agreement pertained to the companies working together it makes him nervous. He wasn’t before he started to call Jacob and he never answered. Elwyn bit his lip in worry.
Atlas was looking at the video of Elwyn and Ludek’s press conference with a smile with Jacob and Damian at his side. When the video ended he put his phone down and chuckled.
Jacob asked:
"Are you okay?"
"I’m fine I knew Elwyn was going to blame me and his parents would believe him."
Atlas said ruthlessly:
"He thought that he would just make the company lose a little money but I’ll help him destroy Nye Games until the only thing left is ashes. I slaved off for this company and this is how they repay me by destroying my reputation and telling the whole world I’m nothing more than an insecure and jealous orphan. They’re going to learn their lesson the hard way."
He’s the one who shared everywhere that every game played made by Nye Games will hack your computer and cellphone. He told Damian to take the game off Cian Cube in the morning so he wouldn’t be impacted.
Now that he is done with his new project he can finally be done with them for good. He’ll talk to them right now then he’ll destroy what will be left of Nye Games.
Jacob and Damian frown, even if Atlas is acting like he isn’t hurt they feel like he is. Atlas looked at the house when they arrived. He said:
"I’ll be back in two minutes."
Damian asked:
"Are you sure you don’t want us to come in?"
Jacob insisted:
"We really don’t mind."
Atlas smiled at them and said:
"It’s fine I promise. I’ll just take a few clothes for the next few days then I’ll buy everything new they can throw the rest."
They nodded and looked at Atlas walking to the door. Once he was in Jacob looked at his father.
"What’s wrong?"
Jacob said:
"I didn’t think he would dare to go that far. Even if Nye Games existed before Atlas he made it what it is today. Honestly, I’ve been doubting Elwyn since he asked for the ring."
Damian put a hand on his shoulder when he looked down.
"I don’t believe you’re having doubt, you already made a decision you just don’t want to admit it to yourself. You’ve always been decisive it’s been the same since you were a kid."
Jacob sighed, he did that’s why he didn’t want to speak to him all day. He’ll text him tomorrow and meet so they can speak. Damian said:
"It’s gonna be okay. Elwyn isn’t the person for you I’ve always known that."
Jacob asked:
"Why did you think that?"
"Because you like to challenge yourself and work hard while he wants everything to be handed to him. Furthermore, he doesn’t share one of your biggest passion."
Jacob nodded, that’s true he always disliked that about Elwyn but since he said he would learn and be better he was patient.
He decided to destroy Nye Games’ reputation just so he wouldn’t have to compete with Atlas and work hard so, of course, he’s never going to change.
Atlas walked to the living room and looked at his so-called family. Ludek immediately stood up from the couch and yelled:
"Atlas how could you do this to the company?"
Atlas asked confused:
"What are you talking about?"
Mircea stood up.
"Don’t pretend you haven’t seen what’s being said about Nye Games everywhere. You knew that we had influencers demoed the game before it was released so you put a virus on it to destroy the company’s reputation."
Elwyn who had stood up after his mother yelled:
"Now people don’t even dare to play all the other games too and Damian removed all the Nye Games from Cian Cube."
Atlas said:
"I understand all of that what I don’t understand is how this is related to me."
Ludek howled:
"You’re the one who put the virus in the game!"
Atlas looked at him hurt then Mircea.
"Do you think I would do that after I worked so hard on the game? You know full well how much I love to create video games and how I give everything I have to make it perfect yet you think I would betray that to destroy Nye Games?"
When Atlas’s eyes moistened and a few tears ran down his face Mircea and Ludek were stunned, they’d never seen him cry except when he was a baby.
Seeing the pain in his eyes Mircea started to doubt and looked at Ludek. He looked back at him not sure either.
Seeing them shift Elwyn said:
"You’re just jealous because you’re not the heir anymore so you wanted to make sure that if you can’t be no one would be. This kind of virus could’ve only been done by someone who has advanced knowledge and you’re the only one at the company who can."
Atlas looked at Ludek and Mircea pleadingly and said:
"I didn’t do this I promise. Please believe me."
Mircea looked at him in silence, it seemed like he had already made up his mind despite his doubt before. Ludek asked:
"Where is your latest project?"
Atlas asked:
"Is that all you care about?"
Ludek said with cold eyes:
"It is where is it?"
Atlas swallowed with difficulty and bit his lip as more tears ran down his face. Elwyn felt incredibly happy.
He said:
"The only reason father and mother kept you is that they wanted you to finish your latest project and now that it’s over you can leave. How can you not see how much we hate you? You’re not part of this family and you’ve never been."
Atlas asked Mircea:
"Is that all you wanted my latest project?"
Mircea said with a mocking smile:
"It is you’re not my son so why should I care about you?"
He was just thrown when he saw Atlas crying, he’s not used to it but now the surprise is gone and he can see what an ingrate he is.
He said:
"You’re nothing more than an ingrate. I can’t believe I raised you as my son all those years."
Elwyn smiled when he saw how heartbroken Atlas looked. Ludek asked:
"Where is the project?"
"In the safe in my office. The password is 1807."
Ludek wrote down the password to make sure he wouldn’t forget then looked up and said:
"We don’t want to see you ever again. Get the hell out."
Atlas swallowed with difficulty, he murmured before turning around:
"I’ll take my stuff and leave."
Elwyn immediately grabbed his wrist.
"Father don’t let him take his things you’re the one who paid for it."
Atlas pulled back his wrist and said:
"I paid for it with my salary I’m not leaving it here."
Before he could take more than two steps they all started to smell something and looked at Atlas stunned. Mircea asked incredulously:
"Have you bonded with someone?"
Atlas met his eyes.
"With Damian, that’s what I originally came here to tell you."
Atlas turned around and left for his room. Ludek, Mircea, and Elwyn were in shock. Elwyn felt furious when his shock faded, he managed to seduce Damian his future father-in-law.
That means he’ll have somewhere to go. Elwyn cursed inwardly, he needs to break them up. His eyes lit up as he thought of Jacob. He hates his father he’s sure he’ll help him.
But first, he’ll tell him to get the emerald ring from his father before he refuses. He just needs to see him as soon as he does Jacob will do everything to please him again. Elwyn smiled maliciously.
