Chapter 118: Mafia / 1.5 : Home sweet home
Kuang put down his cellular after his call went unanswered again. He should stop calling Wu Han he’s probably too busy having fun with Atlas. He isn’t sure when Atlas’ heat ends but he knows it’s between today and tomorrow. At least he knows for sure that his plan worked. He can finally relax, it’s been hell since Shen Gaozong’s lawyer told them about the will.
Just thinking about it angers him. Turns out Gaozong never trusted him and was never planning to leave him the clan. He put Atlas as his heir as soon as his wife passed while in front of people he acted like he was his son. Gaozong has never cared for him and A-Xuan so if he doesn’t take the clan and the companies for themselves they are never going to get a piece of it.
He’ll never work under Atlas, he would rather die. He looked up from his cellular when A-Xuan entered the dining room. A-Xuan smiled gently at his father and he smiled back with soft eyes.
Even if he and Atlas are twins they are nothing alike, whether physically or mentally. A-Xuan has a round face and his hair is short and brown. His eyes are slanted and he has a small nose with thin lips. While Atlas has mesmerizing blue eyes his are gold. Ever since they were kids everyone always fussed about Atlas while they would just say that A-Xuan is cute.
But as they grew up everyone fell in love with A-Xuan because of how sweet and gentle he was while they all felt that Atlas was spoiled and would always accuse A-Xuan unjustly. Atlas would always hurt himself then show the wound to his mother and say A-Xuan did it.
He just wanted attention. That brat thinks that the worlds revolve around him because of Gaozong and his late wife. They both treated him like he was better than A-Xuan which broke Kuang’s heart.
Despite being put on the back burner A-Xuan never stopped being the sweet and caring person he’s always been. Every time he sees his son’s sweet smile he can’t understand how his late wife could ever believe he was manipulative and mean.
It’s like he saw this nonexisting darkness in A-Xuan when it’s never been there. Just because a few times Atlas was clumsy and hurt himself then pointed the finger at his twin his wife started to hate him.
Gaozong started to get closer to him to make sure nothing would happen to him like A-Xuan was a devil after Atlas’ life. Ridiculous. If anything Atlas has always been jealous for not being loved by everyone like A-Xuan is.
He even complained about the staff not treating him right a few days after he arrived. They’ve never had a problem when he was away and as soon as he comes back there is.
He shouldn’t be part of the family and before he throws him out he’ll take everything Gaozong stupidly left him. His darling son will inherit everything.
"Have you spoken to Wu Han?"
Kuang answered:
"I just called again but he hasn’t responded I’m sure he is busy."
A-Xuan nodded and proposed:
"How about we invite him to the dinner tomorrow? Er-Gege will be here too like that he’ll see that Atlas and Han are together. We’ll also invite Zheng Shen so he’ll see that Atlas wasn’t coerced to marry in any way."
Kuang looked at his son in appreciation.
"That’s perfect we’ll do that."
A-Xuan smiled sweetly. He can’t wait for things to go back to the way they were. Just him and his father.
His entire life everything has been about Atlas and now that he’s been named the heir it will be worst but he’ll never let that happen and he knows that his father won’t either. He’s the only one who’s been at his side while his mother and grandfather turned their back on him.
He wants to make sure that he’ll be named the heir soon like that he’ll be the clan leader and president while he marries Er-Gege. He’s engaged to the best alpha on the planet he can’t let him down by just being a stay-at-home wife. He wants him to know that he can count on him and that they’ll face everything together and for that he needs power. He’s so gentle and sweet and he believes in him too.
Kuang and A-Xuan looked at the entry when they heard footsteps. They were both surprised to see Atlas walk-in leisurely.
"Atlas what are you doing here?"
Atlas smirked and asked:
"Father, you haven’t seen me in more than a week shouldn’t you feel relieved that I’m alive?"
Kuang woke up from his stupor and hugged Atlas. Since he called Han without answers he was sure they were still not done.
He pulled back and asked seemingly worried:
"What happened? Your brother and I have been so worried we looked for you everywhere."
Atlas felt like laughing. He took a seat and asked:
"Why didn’t you send the shadow guards to find me?"
Kuang didn’t know what to answer and took a seat. The shadow guards are the best in the clan, they’re the clean-up crew in case they need to get rid of people or retrieve someone.
A-Xuan said:
"Father was worried people might find out that the leader of the clan disappeared and try to take over or god forbid overthrow you."
Atlas sneered:
"No one would dare to overthrow me unless they are traitors. If they don’t believe in grandfather’s decisions then they should die."
A-Xuan felt like beating the shit out of Atlas. What just because someone disagrees with Gaozong they should die? He isn’t a god he was nothing more than a blind fool who loved Atlas for some reason.
Every person in the clan is his family he won’t let Atlas kill them. He smiled gently and said:
"You know that everyone is loyal to grandfather and now you. Why would you say something like that?"
Atlas rolled his eyes and looked at the maid who was standing at the side. The maid ignored him like it wasn’t his job to serve him. When he is done with his list this entire house will run red.
Atlas asked condescendingly:
"Isn’t your job to serve me? You can’t even do that? Should I demote you to something simpler?"
The entire staff including the maid was stunned. Since they found out that Gaozong has left everything to Atlas and not A-Xuan they’ve been angry.
To them, A-Xuan deserves the empire, not Atlas so they’ve been treating him like he is beneath them but despite that Atlas never said anything or reprimanded them. He told his father and he said that he would talk to them but he never did. Kuang and A-Xuan have both been witnesses of the staff’s abuse but don’t care since they see it as them having A-Xuan’s back.
But Atlas is done with that bullshit. Now that everything belongs to him they all work for him and if they can’t learn their place he’ll show them that as a clan leader he can get away with murder.
The maid looked at A-Xuan and he nodded at him. He filled Atlas’ plate and went back to his place. Atlas looked at him with disdain.
"You better learn who is your leader now that grandfather is gone because I’m not as patient as him."
He rolled his eyes when the maid started to tear up. Atlas felt angry eyes at him and followed them but as soon as he looked at his father he smiled. A-Xuan stood up and went to hug the maid.
He said:
"Please don’t cry Atlas has been upset since grandfather passed I’m sure he didn’t mean it."
They both looked at Atlas waiting for him to agree but he was eating without a care in the world.
