Chapter 107: Spirit Animal / 10.12 : The others
Eden woke up and immediately looked up. His eyes softened when he saw that Klay had a tight hold on him like he was scared he might run away. He waited for him last night but he fell asleep before he came. He sighed, he only has a couple more universes before he and Cael can finally be together.
It will be weird not to be on a mission to destroy whoever made his life a leaving hell in different settings. Also, he’s not sure of what he would do. He has an idea but he needs to talk about it with Cael because he is pretty sure he isn’t Colton’s only victim.
He believes that if he could make him pay so harshly for something like that he must’ve kept a list of all the people who offended him and made him go through the same hell as him as soon as he became chancellor. He can’t wait to get his hands on him. Of all the people it had to be Cael’s ex, at least in the real world he isn’t a whore but he certainly had terrible taste. But then again Colton only showed him his sweet side.
To think that the people who have so much power over the universes can do something so destructive makes him furious. With power comes duty you can’t just do whatever you want just because no one can stop you. He has this gut feeling that Colton has been on a rampage since Cael has been asleep and he won’t stop until he gives him the name of those he punished.
When Eden felt Klay move he pushed his hands and went to the shower. A few minutes later he joined him. When he was done he went to get dressed and then left for the dining room. He sat at the head of the table waiting for his guests. He smiled when Jace and Jacob entered the dining room.
They took a seat on his left and right.
"Hey."
They both smiled. Jace asked:
"Hey did you sleep okay?"
Eden nodded. He raised an eyebrow with a mysterious smile and asked looking between the two:
"What about you two did you even sleep?"
Jacob’s face reddened slightly and he felt like hiding. Eden and Jace couldn’t stop themselves from laughing.
Eden can smell that they bonded and that they’re mates and he is happy for them. In the OG timeline, they never did and even if they both ended up with someone they felt a hole their entire life that only the other could feel.
Jacob narrowed his eyes at them then he asked Eden:
"Are you really okay?"
He was there when Eden said that he doesn’t want to go because he doesn’t pretend to be someone he isn’t or be judged by Luna and her friends which he understands.
He was glad he came but he is worried about how he felt, the entire night he was pointed at and had his picture secretly taken. They kept whispering about him and seeing how powerful his spirit animal is he knows that Eden was well aware.
Eden said:
"I knew what I was getting myself into but I had to go. It gives me a better idea of what I should do now. Plus Klay would’ve probably taken me there by force if I hadn’t gone."
They all looked at the entry when someone said:
"For sure."
Klay walked to Eden and after pulling him he took his seat and sat him on his lap.
Eden looked at him, after giving him a peck he asked:
"What is it?"
Klay said pouting:
"Even those two became mates while we still haven’t bonded."
Eden rolled his eyes and filled their plate. Jacob snickered mockingly, and Klay looked at him threateningly.
Jace smiled and asked Eden:
"Are you sure you have everything you need to not be overruled during the shareholder’s meeting?"
As Eden fed a happy Klay he answered:
"I am I won’t let anything up to chance. Once they know that I have enough to overrule them and announce my plan to change our contract with Ryatt Industry they are going to lose it."
Jacob and Jace looked at Klay to see his reaction but he seemed okay. He had a huge smile on his face elated that Eden was feeding him. Jacob inquired:
"What do you plan on changing?"
Eden said:
"The amount they pay, Knox Fort is the best cybersecurity company in the world and my father’s hard work speaks for himself so they shouldn’t pay 20% less that’s insane. I drafted a new contract and if they don’t agree with the new terms then we’ll go our separate way."
When Eden felt Klay’s hold tighten he met his eyes. He declared domineeringly:
"We’ll never go our separate way you’re my soulmate."
Eden smiled, he kissed him tenderly and went back to eating.
"Enter."
A man came in and said:
"This is all I could get in such a short amount of time."
Luna grabbed the USB key and ordered:
"You may leave."
The man left. Luna plugged the USB key into her computer and checked the files. After reading every document expressionlessly she looked at the video from the school.
She watched as Eden was pushed and insulted by a group of students and then left on the ground bleeding and in tears. She increased the volume when she heard him whisper:
"Maybe you’re right I should just kill myself and leave this miserable world. No one thinks I should exist. Why me? Didn’t I suffer enough at the orphanage? Father, how could you put me in this position? Being looked down on by those people is worst than by those at the orphanage. I’m exhausted I don’t know how much more of this I can take."
Eden covered his face for a few seconds then wiped his tears. When he stood up the fear Luna saw earlier was gone like he had nothing more to lose. Luna played next the tape of him and Destry on the bridge. When she saw it she looked at Eden being arrested by Jace. When she was done she closed her computer and tapped her fingers on her desk. She accessed the school server and checked more tapes.
Arya walked down the stairs to the dining room and asked confused:
"Why aren’t you packing?"
Bastian and Alessa laughed like she had made the funniest joke.
"What is so funny? Being tossed in the street by that hybrid freak’s security guards?"
Alessa said:
"Come have breakfast, we talked to Eden this morning."
Arya took a seat.
"What did he say?"
Bastian sneered:
"That fool said that he thought we were the one who hired Destry but then he talked to Jace and he told him that it wasn’t the case since there was no proof. That’s why he lashed out yesterday and told us to vacate the house."
Arya frowned.
"Mother father I don’t think we should stay I feel like he is up to something."
Alessa mocked:
"Please, Eden is the most naive person I’ve ever met he can’t even think let alone be up to something. The house will be ours as soon as he dies after the shareholder’s meeting we know now how we’ll get rid of him."
Thinking about Eden dying Arya became excited and she asked with a big smile:
"How?"
Bastian explained:
"The best way for him to die without anyone suspecting us is if he takes his life right after the shareholder’s meeting. I already wrote his suicide letter saying how since he can’t fulfill his father’s dying wish he doesn’t want to live anymore. We’ll make sure they are reporters in front of the company before and after the meeting and we already leaked that the new president will be named in a couple of days."
Arya smiled, she’s so happy she can’t wait. Now that she saw how sweet Luna was with her she knows she’ll name her president. Maybe it will allow her to get closer to Klay and their relationship will turn romantic. She knows that the only reason he acts like he is interested in Eden is that he is bored.
As soon as he sees how much his mother loves her he’ll come to her. Everyone felt how cold the air was between Luna and Eden. He even left before the end of the party while Klay stayed. Plus even if Klay acts casually he would do anything for his mother, she saw with her own eyes how much he adores her.
He would never go against her wish let alone for some hybrid freak. When someone rang Arya tensed until she realized that Eden already called to apologize.
She started to fill her plate eating leisurely. A man entered the dining room and Bastian immediately asked:
"Who are you?"
"I was sent by Eden to escort you out of his property."
