Before the end of the auction, Kent received a quest he could not refuse. In fact, it was a quest he felt compelled to accept, no matter the danger involved.
Even without the quest, he was already prepared to confront the Bat with everything he had, as he harboured a deep hatred for evil cultivators.
This feeling arose when he discovered that the sect master of the Divine Palace Sect was an evil practitioner.
This revelation fueled his determination to face the evil Bat, even though he knew that merely drawing its blood would be a significant achievement.
However, most of his resolve stemmed from the quest itself.

This was the quest Kent received, and right now, he doesn’t know how much he will earn from it. But as he watched the Bat appear in the sky ahead, his blood began to boil.
The odds staring down at him were overwhelming, even for someone like him. Yet, instead of fear, he felt anticipation for the battle to come.
He had exhausted all his points by allocating them to Agility, Strength, and Stamina, but he wasn’t at a loss. He still had a few tricks up his sleeve and his sword firmly in his grip.
"You’ve proven stubborn, brat, but since you had the audacity to kill my people, I will have to kill you," the Evil Bat said in a tone that made many who heard it shudder.
"I don’t know if bats are generally stupid, or if you’re one of a kind, but can’t you see I was killing others before they came? Or are you telling me your stupidity has reached the point where reason no longer applies?" Kent retorted, causing the Bat to frown.
The Bat extended its hands, and a swarm of bats flew out, speeding toward Kent. He stood his ground, watching calmly as the bats closed in.
Just as the bats were upon him, lightning bolts blasted them to bits. Kaizo was already on the move, charging at the Bat, who wore a smirk on his face.
Looking at the brute coming at him, the Bat wasn’t sure whether to smile or cry. Kaizo, on the other hand, had already sensed his opponent’s lack of seriousness but didn’t back down.
"Rapid Slash," Kent’s voice echoed in his head, and a smile spread across Kaizo’s face.
"Overdrive." His speed increased, and like a lightning bolt, he appeared in front of the Bat, who was caught off guard.
Kaizo’s fist shot toward the Bat’s face, but before it could land a solid blow, the Bat exploded into a swarm of smaller bats and scattered.
However, not all the bats escaped unscathed. Four hundred and fifty sword arcs decimated their ranks, forcing the Evil Bat to reconsider his strategy and attempt to sneak up on Kent.
Kent, anticipating the move, dashed toward Kaizo and retrieved an item from his space ring. He channelled his energy into it and hurled it into the air.

"Domain!"
The Evil Bat, who was closing in on Kent, sensed his surroundings growing cold. In fact, the area began to freeze, forcing him to retreat once more.
"Why, scared of the cold?" Kent sneered as he slashed his sword, unleashing 450 sword arcs. A frown spread across the Bat’s face.
He just doesn’t want to admit he was now dodging attacks from a mere Root Sage. That can truly be happening, right?
But it was and he could tell from the countless swarm of sword arcs coming at him.
The attack closed in rapidly, forcing him to retreat even faster before the cold could overtake him. Kent was attacking like a madman, and Kaizo was standing idle instead.
As for the Dolls, some were standing guard for any sneak attacks while some were in full-on attack mode.
The bat kept retreating, trying not to get trapped in the Ice, for that was one of his weaknesses. But Kent was also making sure his retreat wouldn’t go smoothly.
Evil bats burst into bats and flew away before forming into humans again.
However, he had to dodge to the side when Kaizo’s fist nearly grazed his face.
In response, he exploded into countless bats again, but as before, Kent unleashed the full power of Rapid Slash, slaughtering the bats in droves.
The battle was a testament to Kent and Kaizo pushing their limits and doing everything in their power to keep the Bat from getting close to Kent.
In fact, after just one minute of combat, it was clear that Kent and Kaizo were no match for the Root Sovereign-stage Bat.
Yet, the fact that they were preventing a Sovereign from reaching Kent was nothing short of monstrous.
"Enough!" the Evil Bat shouted as he was sent flying once again by Kent and his undead companion. This time, he didn’t fly too far. He stopped mid-air and raised his hand.
"Blood Spears!"
Up in the air, thousands of blood-red spears materialized and shot toward Kent.
"Master, get behind me," Kaizo said as he raised his hand, summoning an orb of lightning. He clenched his fist, and the orb exploded into a net of lightning, forming a protective dome around him and Kent.
The blood spears began to pierce through the Lightning Net, forcing Kaizo to pour more energy into maintaining the barrier as they brainstormed their next move.
Kent remained calm, his eyes fixed on the Bat hovering above. Stay updated through freewebnovel
"How can this Bat be killed?" Kaizo asked, glancing back at his master, who, despite the imminent danger, exuded an air of composure.
Kent continued to stare at the Bat for a full minute before letting out a small sigh.
"He’s just too far above our strength level," Kent admitted.
"Then should we escape?" Kaizo asked, ensuring his master understood that his safety was the priority. If they couldn’t kill the Bat, fleeing was their only option.
"No, Kaizo. We won’t be running. This bastard will serve as an example.
I know this is our first time fighting together, but the first rule of combat in my eyes and heart is... we never back down from a good fight. And this," Kent said with a smile, "feels like a good fight."
"In that case, Master, why don’t we beat this bastard until he forgets his mama’s name?" Kaizo replied, a smile spreading across his face as well.
"You said it," Kent agreed.
The brat and his undead companion exchanged determined smiles as Kent’s skin beneath his armour transformed, taking on the scaly texture of a dragon.
"All we need is his blood," Kent said, his voice steady and resolute.
