Chapter 100: Death of the Butcher

Angelica suddenly smiled.

"My little sister... It seems living amongst mortals has made you softer."

"But..."

Her grip tightened on her halberd.

"The Eternal Battlefield isn’t a place where kindness survives."

BOOOOOOM!!!

The celestial crown behind her exploded into endless starlight.

Every fragment became a divine spear.

In an instant, countless divine spears appeared.

Millions.

Billions.

An immeasurable number.

And slowly, they descended simultaneously.

Kayla remained motionless.

Her silver hair gently drifted behind her.

The countless silent stars surrounding her quietly collapsed inward.

Then... she whispered:

"Eternal Star Art..."

"Silent Night."

The stars disappeared, and so did the endless spears.

There was no collision or explosion. Rather, they simply ceased to exist.

Even Angelica’s smile disappeared.

For the first time...

A trace of disbelief appeared in her eyes.

Kayla slowly pointed her rapier forward, her calm eyes containing neither anger nor hatred.

Only unwavering resolve.

"If anyone tries to take away my husband..."

"If anyone tries to take away my daughter..."

"If anyone tries to force me back..."

"I will erase them."

Her voice spread throughout the endless void, and every surviving God instinctively lowered his head.

Even Amon felt his heartbeat quicken.

Because for the first time...

He finally understood.

The gentle woman he had fallen in love with...

Had always been an existence capable of making Heaven itself fall silent.

Kayla slowly raised the silver rapier in her hand, and its slender blade reflected the endless void.

Across from her, Angelica calmly lifted the halberd condensed from distorted reality itself.

Neither of them moved.

Yet the surrounding void cracked uncontrollably.

Amon instinctively tightened his grip around Azrael.

"You really intend to oppose the family for a mortal?" Angelica asked, her voice raising slightly.

Kayla’s gaze never wavered as she calmly replied.

"I intend to protect my family."

There was a brief silence between the two, but the next instant...

BOOOOOOOOOOM!!!

The rapier and halberd collided against each other.

In the blink of an eye, everything behind them vanished.

Entire layers of reality quietly folded into themselves before disappearing without a sound.

The surrounding Gods instantly retreated.

Several floating worlds drifted backward as though avoiding the aftermath of the collision.

Amon’s pupils contracted as he tried to grasp the movements of the two ladies.

Even with his current strength...

He couldn’t follow their movements at all!

Clang!

Another collision echoed.

Silver and gold intertwined throughout the void.

Every exchange created countless cracks before restoring them an instant later.

Angelica’s halberd descended once more.

"Eternal Star Art..."

The golden star between her brows suddenly expanded.

One became ten, ten became a hundred, and hundreds became thousands.

Every star carried an indescribable pressure that was as heavy as a mountain.

However, Amon could vaguely tell that these weren’t stars. Rather, they were entirely worlds compressed into points of light.

"Endless Starfall," Angelica said smoothly as she executed the attack.

Instantly, thousands of stars descended simultaneously.

Meanwhile, Kayla merely sighed.

Slowly, she extended her rapier, and before long everything gradually became quiet.

The flowing void stopped, and the descending stars slowed.

Gradually, at the tip of her rapier, a tiny silver lotus quietly bloomed.

Its petals unfolded one after another.

Every petal contained countless constellation patterns, and every constellation seemed to give birth to endless galaxies.

Amon stared blankly at the attack being released by his wife.

He couldn’t comprehend it in the slightest!

It had already surpassed the Netherworld Sword Technique and even surpassed laws.

Just then, Kayla softly spoke.

"Celestial Star Art..."

"Origin Lotus."

The blooming lotus gently rotated, and the countless descending stars froze.

Then...

One after another, they quietly returned upward.

Angelica’s calm expression remained for a few seconds before it finally changed.

Impossible!

Her Endless Starfall had actually been reversed.

Unable to believe it, she closed the gap between the two of them, her halberd leaving a fracture in reality as she attacked.

Clang!

Clang!

Clang!

The sisters exchanged another dozen strikes.

Every collision birthed universes. However, as soon as the two separated from each other, they were gone.

Just as the two were about to execute another sword art on each other...

Everything stopped instantly.

This time was unlike the previous times where one’s thoughts could still move.

Rather, it was as though time had ceased to exist.

The rapier froze.

The halberd froze.

The collapsing realities froze.

The blooming lotus froze.

The endless stars froze.

Even the flowing void became perfectly still.

A pair of footsteps echoed throughout existence.

Suddenly, Angelica’s expression became respectful as she sensed this figure’s almighty presence.

’Father has arrived...’ she wanted to force a smile, but time was frozen, so she could only harbor the thought for now.

On the other hand, upon sensing this presence, Kayla’s face gradually turned pale.

A rare emotion appeared within her calm eyes.

Fear.

It was not the fear of death.

But fear of inevitability.

The one existence she had spent countless years avoiding... had finally found her.

A man dressed in simple black training robes walked through the frozen void.

There were no ornaments upon his body.

On the contrary, he looked so ordinary that he could disappear into any crowd.

Yet wherever he walked, reality instinctively made way.

Time silently retreated, and space lowered itself.

Even existence welcomed his arrival.

Between his brows...

A single silver star revolved quietly.

Every rotation seemed capable of creating and destroying endless realities.

Angelica immediately lowered her head the moment the pressure freezing time receded.

"Father."

Kayla remained standing, and her lips moved slightly.

"...Father."

The man never looked at Angelica and only spared Kayla a fleeting glance before his calm gaze settled upon Amon.

Silence stretched for what felt like eternity.

Then, slowly, he spoke.

"So... this is the reason you abandoned your duties."

His voice wasn’t loud.

Yet every law throughout existence instinctively obeyed.

Amon slowly raised Azrael.

Even though every instinct told him it was meaningless...

He still raised his sword.

The man regarded him quietly for a few seconds, then slowly raised a single finger in Amon’s direction.

Amon couldn’t sense a trace of mana or energy in his movements.

However, the mysterious man simply looked at Amon and spoke one word.

"Erase."

There was a brief silence.

Then, slowly, Azrael disappeared.

The endless sword intent vanished.

The God Slaying Sword Art dissolved, and Amon’s body gradually became transparent.

His hands disappeared first, then his arms, his chest.

Kayla’s expression changed drastically the moment the attack was executed.

The calmness she had maintained since the beginning completely collapsed.

"No..."

Her figure appeared before Amon, and she reached toward him.

However, her fingers passed straight through his fading body.

For the first time, the woman who had remained indifferent before countless Gods revealed panic.

"Amon..."

A single tear quietly rolled down her face.

Amon looked at her, then toward the little blue world floating in the distance.

Earth.

Home.

Ciara.

His lips moved as he tried to speak, but the words never came out.

"I..."

His entire existence disappeared, leaving nothing behind.

The endless void became silent as Kayla stood there motionless.

Her outstretched hand trembled slightly.

The man in black calmly turned away as though he’d barely done anything.

"Return."

As soon as he finished speaking, reality folded.

Angelica disappeared.

Kayla disappeared.

Even the endless void gradually faded, returning to normal.

Everything became darkness...

...

"...wake..."

"...poor child..."

"...is he breathing..."

"...someone bring water..."

Muffled voices echoed faintly in the endless darkness Amon found himself in, and they gradually became clearer.

Amon frowned slightly, feeling his head hurt.

An unfamiliar pain spread through his body, and a strange sense of emptiness filled his heart.

As though something unimaginably precious had been taken away from him.

He slowly opened his eyes.

Sunlight filtered through green leaves, and a cool breeze brushed against his face.

Birds chirped softly.

Gone was the endless void.

Gone were the Gods.

Gone was Heaven.

Standing before him was a middle-aged couple dressed in simple traveling clothes.

Their expressions were filled with concern.

The woman let out a relieved sigh upon seeing him finally open his eyes.

"Oh, thank goodness."

"He’s awake."

The man crouched beside him and smiled gently.

"Young man..."

"Are you alright?"

Amon stared blankly at the man, feeling he had forgotten something.

The man glanced around the quiet forest briefly in confusion, then asked curiously,

"Did you get lost?"

"Where are your parents?"

"How could they leave an eight-year-old child alone in a place like this?"

Eight-year-old...

Amon instinctively lowered his head.

He now had small hands, small legs, and a small body.

He froze, and his pupils contracted almost instantly.

"I..."

Countless thoughts flashed through his mind before disappearing like smoke.

His expression gradually became confused as he thought of something...

"I..."

"I failed..."

The words escaped his lips naturally, as though it was something he had been clinging onto for a long time.

The couple exchanged puzzled glances as they heard him speak.

Amon frowned.

A strange feeling appeared in his chest.

He slowly whispered once more,

"...failed?"

His eyes became vacant.

"Wait..."

"What..."

"...did I fail?"

A wave of silence descended onto the three.

The woman gently rubbed his head.

"It’s alright. You don’t have to force yourself."

The man asked softly,

"Can you at least remember your name?"

Amon remained quiet for a long time.

The wind rustled through the forest, and birds continued singing.

Finally...

He slowly shook his head.

"I..."

"I can’t remember anything."
