Chapter 89: ...She is in trouble
SSSSSRRRRRR!!!
SLING!!!
A brilliant light flashed for a moment.
BOOM!!!
A white light crescent arc crashed straight at the incoming blazing flame, the moment the two of them connected. A massive explosion echoed, its shock wave hitting the tall trees. Making them shiver.
"What!? Who is this!?"
The Dragonkin roared in astonishment; he didn’t think anyone else would pointlessly intervene between their fights.
Even Sera was surprised; suddenly, she felt a hand on her shoulders. A wave of pure Verth flowed inside her.
"T-This, ahn~!!!"
Sera almost moaned when she felt that Verth flowed inside her; it was so pure that it almost pulled a soul-stirring moan from her throat.
She hurriedly clamped her mouth shut, her long Elven ears turned red slightly.
"Ahem! Lady Sera, it’s been a long time since we saw each other."
Emperal coughed lightly and conveniently ignored the moan of that woman. Sera’s eyes widened when she heard those words.
Her Gainsboro eyes reflected a handsome figure, "You...aren’t you, Emperal?"
She spoke, almost stumbling on the ground. In this vast realm, she certainly didn’t expect to find one individual, of whom she was not fond, due to his connection with Lady Dresh.
"The one and only"
Emperal replied, his lips curved lightly. He looked at the stunned Dragonkin in the distance and shook his head.
"These hot-headed, muscle-brained lizards and their usual tactics, it seems. No surprise at all."
Emperal sneered lightly, snapping back the attention of the insulted Dragonkin.
"You!"
His eyes widened in anger when he heard Emperal’s words, and his hands once again began to glow. Looking at the injured Sera behind him, he spoke with venom dripping from his tone.
"Just you wait whore, after I deal with this brat. Into my slave collection you are going."
A vein popped on Sera’s forehead when she heard this, "This... lowborn."
Those words were barely spoken as a hand landed on her shoulders.
"Calm down, Lady Sera. Don’t fall for that lizard’s taunt, I mean, just look at his face. If there were Ratkin in this world, even they would think twice before becoming his confidant."
"Pfff~!!"
Sera burst into laughter the moment Emperal completed his words, "Y-You, no way you said that"
She spoke, half trembling and half in disbelief.
That, combined with the stunned face of the Dragonkin, would definitely paint a picture worth millions.
The Dragonkin’s face darkened further when he heard Sera’s laughter.
"You...boy, will not die a peaceful death."
The flames once again flickered in his palms, forming a huge blade. This time, the intensity of the flames was more than earlier.
"Yes, how can I die peacefully after seeing that hideous face of yours?" Emperal, of course, didn’t hold back.
The Stormvein sword vanished from his back, appearing in his palms. Clutching it tightly, he dashed towards the Dragonkin.
"DIE!!"
Seeing Emperal rushing towards him, he let out a feral roar and swung his flaming blade at the incoming man.
"Heh, you call these flames of a Dragon? What a disgrace to my friend."
Emperal spoke, and his sword began to glow lightly. He looked at the Dragonkin with a wide grin on his face.
"Let me show you the new technique I have painfully mastered...Kraeth’sol!!"
The tip of his sword ignited when the compression reached maximum. Emperal swung his blade violently at the incoming arc of flames.
SSRSHHHHHH~!!!
SUCKK!!!
A small wave of heat was released, yes, heat. Not flames. There was no way he could replicate the original Kraeth’sol...through a sword—a low-quality one to top it.
"Hahaha! This? This was a technique!? Boy, be prepared for a lifetime of torture!"
The Dragonkin laughed crazily when he saw the silly heat against his flames.
But, to his horror, The wave of heat...entirely immolated his flames the moment it came in contact with them. Its momentum was unaffected. After destroying the arc of flames, it went straight towards the Dragonkin.
"N-NO, W-WHAT IS THI—!?"
Before he could even finish his words, the heat consumed him. Burning him to ashes in less than a second.
"!!!"
Sera’s eyes widened when she saw this, "This...is this the strength a Verth Seeker should have?"
The moment her words echoed, Emperal’s eyes shifted back to her. Which made her unconsciously take a step back.
Emperal smiled and sheathed his sword, "Well, the nuisance has finally been dealt with. Let’s get down to business."
He walked towards her; his steps didn’t falter a single bit. He was as confident as ever.
"Business? What do you need from me?"
Sera asked, swallowing a small green pill. Her gaze dropped down on the man standing close to her. They were just a few meters away, a hand’s length to be accurate.
"Not even a thank you? It seems I have to have a talk with Lady Dresh."
Emperal suddenly chuckled, surprising Sera. Her eyes widened slightly when she heard his words.
"Your intervention was unnecessary, but your intention was good, and you have connections with Lady Dresh. I thank you for helping me out."
Sera spoke, her dark hair cascading down her shoulders. Despite those harsh words, there was a touch of warmth hidden there.
Emperal shook his head, well. It was not that he wanted to be a hero, but circumstance demanded some action.
He and Dresh had planned to meet in the EverHeart realm after their ’secret’ meeting in the borders.
So, he needed a backup here in case some Verth Shaper decided to attack him. And thanks to his luck, he found Sera here.
If, after the fight, he had gone up to her and asked, he would most definitely be shot down. And seeing her strength and recovery rate, he was sure he couldn’t force her too much.
That left him no choice but to play the hero like this.
"Well, anyway. Where is Lady Dresh? I need to see her right now."
Emperal spoke, his expression serious.
Hearing his words, a rare, worrisome expression flashed on her face. Looking at Emperal, she sighed.
"Lady Dresh...she is in trouble."
"...Say what?"
