Chapter 127: It is HIM!

Emperal and the badger passed through several hurdles, though the path wasn’t as difficult as the one that he had gone through before. The Outer Zone to Inner Zone.

The core zone wasn’t much different, just...it was far less in radius compared to the vast Inner and Outer plains.

Emperal stared ahead. There was a large...cave-like opening. It was big, really big. Almost half a mile in length.

"Now that is...huge."

Emperal muttered, the badger beside him smirking.

"Mine is bigger than that."

Emperal’s brows twitched when he heard those words, but he didn’t say a word. Throughout the journey, Emperal swore it was one of the most hectic, hellish, and torturous times of his life.

There were countless instances where this badger had rage-baited him so much that he had almost used Dresh’s aura for the second time!

And that was just the beginning. The badger even went as far as to provoke a Stage One Verth Shaper beast!

It was his luck that he had Sol’Vethrak. Otherwise, he was sure he would have already been digested in that panther beast’s stomach.

Shaking his head of useless thoughts, he leaped high and landed on a branch. Looking ahead, he saw a large crowd gathered in front of the cave. Squinting his eyes, his gaze fell on various figures.

Figures...that really shouldn’t be here.

"No way, they all came even before me," Emperal muttered as his gaze swept across the figures of Zhaltharia, Seraveth, that Mysterious Elf, a huge titan, Theron, and Thyra!

All of them were their respective clan leaders, though he didn’t understand why Theron was here in the presence of Seraveth.

Emperal blinked and slowly got off the tree, his brows raised slightly in confusion.

"Infernal Dragon...why are there just the leaders? Am I missing something here?"

He asked.

"It seems there is some force here that is preventing the entry of cultivators below Verth Shaper. And somehow, just you and that...thing down there are unaffected."

It spoke. Even the Dragon was confused by the situation.

"I...see."

Shaking his head, he looked down at the badger...

BADGER!?

Emperal’s eyes widened in horror when he saw the absence of the small, smelly creature.

He snapped his head in every direction, but there was not a single sign of the badger.

Just then, he heard a voice.

A voice that he desperately didn’t want to hear.

"Hey! We meet again, you ugly-haired bitch! Last time, those fireworks were good! I want more!"

Like a mechanical robot, he slowly turned his head ahead. There, a few miles away, the badger stood on a stone and pointed arrogantly at the figure of Thyra.

Its snot was raised, and its chest puffed out, and under the surprised eyes of every THIRD STAGE VERTH SHAPER.

It pointed arrogantly at Thyra. For once, the refined and elegant woman blinked in confusion, but the next moment, the realization hit her...slapped her.

"Y-You!! You are alive!"

Thyra pointed a trembling finger at the badger and spoke. Nearby, Seraveth almost choked on her own breath when she heard the words, ugly-haired bitch. And that too, directed at the Thyra of Solmere!

It wasn’t a small thing. But, to her surprise, the badger turned towards her. It pointed its stubby hands towards her.

"You there, you average-looking hag. Why do I smell my friend’s smell on you?"

Seraveth’s expression twisted alongside Thyra’s. A vein popped on her forehead. She, however, wasn’t as patient as Thyra.

She vanished from her spot. The sound had just completed its echo and her fist was already descending upon the badger.

SMASH!!!

BOOM!!!

The badger was smashed into the ground, but to Seraveth’s surprise, the warm blood splatter she had expected never came.

Instead, there was nothing but emptiness. The Mysterious Elf, who was standing silently with a bored expression, suddenly narrowed his eyes.

"...Huh? Not even a drop of blood?"

A rare expression of surprise passed through his face. The rest weren’t any different.

"No wonder that disgusting thing had survived my beam. If it can come out unscathed even after taking that fist..."

Thyra’s expression was twisted in disbelief. The only ones who weren’t looking were...Zhaltharia and the Titan beast.

Their eyes were glued to the entrance before them...more specifically, the aura radiating from the cave.

Seraveth looked down, surprised to see the badger poke its head out and snap at her.

"Y-You! Old Hag, that hurts real bad!"

It dusted off the dirt on its fur and glared at Seraveth.

"H-How are you still alive?"

"Hmph! Consider yourself grateful that you have my friend’s smell on you, or this Elegant Sovereign would have had to take some drastic measures!"

The badger snorted at the stunned Seraveth and walked past her. Its pace was steady as if it hadn’t gotten hit by a tens-of-thousands of pound hammer.

The bastard even leaped towards the entrance.

All color drained from Emperal’s face as he watched the badger’s actions.

"Oh, I’m dead. This little shit will be the end of me!"

He couldn’t help but curse, but...now that he saw it getting stared at by so many overwhelming auras, Emperal felt bad for the badger. Almost

Bad until...

"You there, my friend back there needs something important, which is inside the cave. Go and get it, and make it fast. I don’t have all day."

The badger stretched its stubby arms and legs and lay flat on the ground in a nearby stone’s shadow.

Those words, however...it would have been fine if it were anyone else among the standing people. But the cursed little shit just pointed its fingers at the one person Emperal was wary of.

"...Are you talking about me?"

Zhaltharia pointed a confused finger at her chest, her expression genuinely confused. This was the first time someone had spoken to her in that tone.

"Yes, yes, you only."

The badger nodded unhurriedly and waved his hand, shooing the purple-haired beauty.

"Now go."

Step. Step. Step.

The badger squinted its beady eyes as it saw a shadow fall upon its figure. Zhaltharia looked down.

An intense shine passed through her eyes for a moment. Her lips curled slightly.

"How amusing. Why not? Just tell me, who is this friend of yours?"

"Oh, him? He is the guy hiding behind that tree. Go fast, he seems to be running away."

The badger pointed its hand in a certain direction.

Immediately, every present Verth Shaper snapped their head towards the source.

Even Zhaltharia turned her head curiously. The moment she did, her eyes widened.

"Well, well, isn’t this our little secret keeper?"

Her lips curled up slightly.

Seraveth snapped her head and muttered in disbelief.

"E-Emperal!!??"

She almost stumbled forward. All of the eyes fell on the emerging figure. Theron squinted his eyes when he saw Emperal.

"That...theif?"

From between the trees, a figure stepped forward. Despite the eyes that weighed thousands of kilos, the figure walking towards them didn’t shake in the slightest.

It was just that his expression was as dark as the badger’s nasty ass.

"I’ll kill it, I’ll kill it, I’ll kill it."

Like a mantra, he repeatedly muttered. A second later, he felt a pair of intense eyes on him. Tilting his head, he smirked lightly when he saw the source of the gaze.

"Well, well, isn’t this the high and mighty, the Great Dragon Princess...Seraveth Storm herself?"

Emperal spoke with a mocking grin, making Seraveth snap from her daze.

"Y-You, Emperal?"

"Yes, me."

Ignoring the woman, Emperal walked forward. Specifically, towards the cave. Not a single emotion was displayed on his face. Looking ahead, he saw an invisible layer extending outwards from the cave, essentially sealing all the possible exits.

"That barrier couldn’t be broken from the outside. It could only be opened from inside."

Just as Emperal was about to ponder, a soul-stirring voice echoed...right beside his ears. A chill ran down Emperal’s spine...but he didn’t panic. Barely holding himself together, he spoke without turning his head.

"Lady Zhaltharia, I wouldn’t have minded if it were just an illusion, but coming this close to a stranger, a man no less, is kind of uncivilized for you."

The moment his words fell, a melodious chuckle resounded throughout the plain.

"Please don’t mind that little joke. I was just hoping to play with you."

"Heh."

Emperal smirked, but deep down, he indeed wanted to say something else to her face.

"Play? Yours are simply not enough for me to play with."

Alas, he wasn’t strong enough for that. He controlled his expression.

"Is that thing...with you?"

Zhaltharia asked, pointing her jade-like finger towards the sleeping beauty on the ground. Emperal’s eyes twitched violently as black creases formed on his forehead. Taking a deep breath, he spoke.

"Don’t worry, I’ll take responsibility for it."

Saying that, he stepped towards the badger. His eyes were shining. The Mysterious Elf, Thyra, and Zhaltharia looked at the scene amusingly.

"Oye! You lazy dog, get up! We have some work to do."

Emperal grabbed the fat near the badger’s nape and lifted it up.

"Hey! How dare you!? Let this Sovereign down this instant!"

The badger struggled, but Emperal didn’t look at it. Turning towards Zhaltharia, his lips curled up.

"Lady Zhaltharia, didn’t you say the barrier would open from inside?"

"...Yes?"

"Well, you are wrong about that."

With a massive grin on his face, he violently threw the badger in his arms towards the sky.

"WET DOG, NOW!!!"
